The Rich boy falling in love with a peasant girl was given a new treatment by Elwood Perez. Nora has many dramatic highlight in this film, the pang aapi of Armida is so effective that she was able hold her own in scenes with Nora. The Guy & Pip tandem is in top form and showed the chemistry that made them the most successful loveteam of all time. Dina Bonnevie & Edu Manzano provided excellent support. Kastilyong buhangin (1980)
Huge hit from the Nora-Lito Tandem
Nora is superlative in all her scenes. Whether she is in a quiet moment with no dialogue or in a confrontation scene, she is sooo good! I think this is the only movie i appreciated the acting skills of Lito Lapid. Director Mario 0'hara guided him well & the role is tailor made. The scene where Nora as Laura is crying over the dead Oscar (Lito) is truly heartbreakkng! Metring David as Lito's mother must be commended for her natural performance.
Hindi kita malimot (1973)
Nora & Tirso in a dramatic remake
Barrio lass (Nora) falls in love with a rich guy (Tirso). He married her despite the objection of his Mom (Rosa Mia). He died & his twin brother presented Nora as a caregiver to take care of his mother. Secret was revealed & after some dramatic fireworks, Guy & Pip had a happy ending. This storyline was made by Gloria Romero & Luis Gonzales, repeated by Susan Roces & finally again by Nora Aunor. 3 generations of movie queen did this storyline
Gaano kita kamahal (1981)
Nora-Lito the 2nd time aound
This is a follow up movie of the Nora-Lito tandem after scoring a huge hit in Kastilyong Buhangin. This is a love triangle film set in the lives of stage performers. Musical numbers are excellently mounted by director Mario O'Hara. Nora performed the classic song Kalesa on stage & also sang I'll Be Seeing You with the famous Manila sunset as background. Geraldine provides excellent support as the scheming contravida who throws acid on Nora's face. Lito Lapid & Mario Escudero engaged in a long swordfight. The acting of the whole cast is splendid
The Singing Filipina (1971)
Nora Sajhid blockbuster film
This blockbuster film is about a girl who suffers amnesia caused by an accident. Typical of Nora Aunor hits in the 70s, this film is filled with musical numbers performed by Nora like the song Losing You. Shot entirely in the US
Tomboy Nora (1970)
One of Nora's 17 films shown on 1970
Nora played a dual role in this movie. The challenging one is the tomboy who is a long lost grandaugther of a rich man played by Bayani Casimiro.
Ana Victoria (1970)
Nora's Supremacy in the 70s
Shown Aug 1970, Nora,is already the superstar of Philippine movies (nobody comes close). This melodrama is about 2 women battle for custody over Nora. Leila Morena is the biological mom while Maria Victoria plays the adoptive mother. Typical of early Nora movies, this film is laced with song numbers one after another. One of the highlight of the film is the talent contest where Tinna Lapuz performed a chacha dance number to compete with Nora's golden voice. Of course we know who the winner is. The adoptive mother gets custody of Nora in the end.
Nora (Single Girl) (1969)
1969 Nora starts her domination
An example of Nora Aunor's early solo successful flicks that is made within one week. This film is a melodrama that has plenty of song numbers injected every 15 minutes to cater to her fans. Nora played the role of the oppressed girl raised by her lolo played by Martin Marfil. It would be revealed in the end that Nora as a baby was stolen & switched with another baby who would grow to be Tinna Lapuz by Martin Marfil from a rich couple played by Leopoldo Salcedo & Anita Linda. All's well that ends well. Nora sings Jingabel rock at the end of the movie. Director Artemio Marquez surely knows how to make an entertaining film even though its a quickie
Guy and Pip (1971)
GUY & PIP TOPS THEM ALL
Guy & Pip is the all time most popular love team of Philippine cinema. This fan movie has a thin story line & features the loveteam in a series of musical numbers that aims to entertain the moviegoers of that era. It became the top grosser of the Manila Filmfest 1971. According to video48, more than 10 percent of the population watched this movie. Adjusted to inflation, this remains to be the biggest blockbuster in Philippine movie history
