Down the Shore (2011)
Big disappointment, too slow, poorly written, poorly directed
I found this movie to be a big waste of time. I kept hoping it might get better, It never did. It has good actors. I blame the script and the directing. The cinematography was beautiful, however.
La forêt (2017)
If you liked "Manon of the Spring" & "Pan's Labyrinth," you might like "The Forest"
Structurally, this TV series is like ITV's "Broadchurch" TV series. But emotionally, "The Forest" is somewhat similar to "Manon of the Spring" & "Pan's Labyrinth."
The heart and center of "The Forest" is the emotional healing journey of the Eve character, played by Alexia Barlier.
The whodunit and thriller parts of the series are certainly good, or adequate, but these are not the real core of the series.
How It Ends (2018)
It's like the 1968 "Planet of the Apes" without the final scene
Imagine if Charlton Heston's character in the first "Planet of the Apes" movie had never learned what planet he was on, and imagine if the viewing audience had never learned that either. Well, that's what we did get in "How It Ends," in effect. In other words, after all that we see in the movie, some explanation of the disaster was needed. Another IMDB reviewer speculated that the disaster was a Coronal Mass Ejection from the sun, and after reading the Wikipedia page on that, it certain seems to fit. So, thanks to that other reviewer!
