Forrest Gump (1994)
GOAT movie
A music to start with and to end. A Tom Hanks classic, it's a must recommendation from my side. You get to know life here. You don't need much in life, a supportive mother, a girl to love and a few trustworthy friend. A movie which emotionally pierced my heart. All the relations made me cry. Just brilliant.
Gwoemul (2006)
A must watch if you like monster movies.
A good monster movie, about a strange creature, which suddenly arose from the Han river. A victim of the abduction by the monster , tries to rescue her from the clutches of the creature. This is what the movie is all about.
Salinui chueok (2003)
A true 'underrated' masterpiece from Bong Joon Ho.
1986 South Korea. Several rape and murder case reports are coming one at a time. One local detective, and an other from Seoul starts
the investigation , start gathering clues, evidences. Although their ways of investigation were different, at the end they came together. There's a lot of humour too, in the movie, amidst the seriousness. One thing I can tell you, since this is based on a true story, the ending you may know beforehand. But please don't miss the ultimate ending scene. That's why I loved the movie so much.
Oldeuboi (2003)
Story is good, otherwise, I'd say that the movie is overrated.
The story is about a man , who was held captive for 15 years, for some reason, by a guy.
After 15 years, he is released, and then after knowing who captivated him, he tries to know the reason behind it. And this is what it's all about. Yes, the several twists might be interesting for some, but many a times they were predictable.
Cidade de Deus (2002)
Perfectly portrays the slum culture , their struggles , and path to success.
No famous cast, no great music, only a movie worth a watch.
The story is about the members(mainly 2 of them) of a small gang of a Brazilian slum, how they end up in life, and their story.
There is violence, drugs, revenge, and what not. This is truly an underrated piece of art.
Gisaengchung (2019)
Not quite a thriller , until the end.
The story is about a poor Korean Family, and it's 4 members, who live in an underground floor basement, which gets flooded with the slightest of showers. They do different sorts of part time jobs, for a living. Their fortune changes, when one of the friend's of a family member offers him to teach English to a rich house's girl, in his absence. Fortune of the poor family soon changes (and later they knew it changed for ever) , as they become fully dependant upon the rich family, for their living (just like a parasite and a host).
The real thrill starts, after they poor family discover a hidden truth about the rich house.
Busanhaeng (2016)
A must watch Korean Thriller. There's no room for boredom, not even once.
The story revolves around the South Korean Capital city, where a virus outbreak occurs, which turns victims into zombies, which again would bite another person to turn them into zombies.
A little girl, with her father board a train from Seoul station, towards Busan, where one person shows the symptoms of the virus. What happened next, is why you should watch this movie.
Heerak Rajar Deshe (1980)
Childhood.Nostalgia.
A classic by Satyajit Ray. The movie is all about legendary actors, beautiful and meaningful songs, music, a very important social and political message, and Satyajit Ray.
It is the sequel of Ray's 'Goopi Gayen Bagha Bayen' , and revolves around the adventure of the duo(a singer named Goopi, and a Dholak player named Bagha, to "Hirak Rajjo" (Kingdom of Diamonds), a kingdom, with an egoistic and tyrant king(Hirak Raja).
The movie gives stress upon problems that even our world faces even now.
What a visionary Ray was!
Legend.
Inception (2010)
An art of Christopher Nolan
A thief , who steals one's brain's datas through a dream sharing technology, wants to give up this job and get back to his family, but only if he accomplishes one last mission.
There's thrill all throughout the movie, and Nolan's unique style of storytelling persists here too. However, the mysterious ending will keep you thinking for days.
Jojo Rabbit (2019)
Not your regular WAR DRAMA .
Films are often made about America/Britain/Japan during WW2 .
Here, it is Germany. And as I said already, it isn't a war movie. The genre here is Comedy, Drama, although it wasn't a comedy everytime.
A boy named Jojo in Hitler's Germany, dreams of becoming a soldier in Hitler's regime. However, soon he discovers, he doesn't have 'that' , what it takes to become a merciless soldier. His second discovery is a Jew girl in his attic. Now to know how she went there, and what happened afterwards, you need to watch the movie.
Memento (2000)
Only reason to watch, is Christopher Nolan
The story is about the revenge of a guy who's wife got murdered, while the guy suffers from short term memory loss. He is then 'used' by several people, to their own benefits, as he continues to suffer.
The storyline of the movie is quite average. One main reason to watch this movie is Christopher Nolan, otherwise, the way the story in the movie was being told, is also quite interesting. Nothing more.
Se7en (1995)
7 deadly sins for their death.
The movie is about two detectives (Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman) the former a rookie, and kind of an angry young man, desperate kind of, and the latter, a veteran.
They come together to investigate a serial killing case, where the killer uses a specific motive to kill people, and he succeeds at the end.
The plan by which he succeeded, is the reason why the movie is a must watch.
Gokseong (2016)
Worth your 2.5 hours.
The story starts in a small hilly South Korean village, where reports are coming of people dying mysteriously. Symptoms include rashes on the skin, and the victim becoming hyperactive.
The primary suspect is an old Japanese guy, who people thought, might have brought a virus with him, while others have a different theory about him.
The movie contains concepts of Korean and Japanese folklore, and might be worth of its time span. Its upon you, if you love horror movies with a thrill/twist in the plot at the end, this is for you.
Pihu (2016)
Above average
The film is about a 2 yr old little girl, who gets trapped inside her high rise apartment, under few circumstances.
There are thrills throughout the film, and it's totally concentrated on a single character, that is Pihu.
This movie might leave you with slight depression, if you watch it alone
