Darlings (2022)
Finally a good movie from Bollywood! We need more of these!
I really enjoyed the movie start to finish! It was a breath of fresh air to not have the movie bombarded with unnecessary songs. The story felt so real, all kudos to the direction and the suburb job by every actor from Alia, Shefali, Vijay to supporting cast like Roshan and Rajesh. They made the story so real and the plot was entertaining through and through. They took a very sad issue faced by women but instead of making it another sad tale, they made it witty, smart and fun. Amazing dark comedy! I hope they make more of such films in Bollywood where the plot is unique and creative. It's been a long time since I've liked a Bollywood movie, and I hope to see more of such films! Great job to the writers and everyone involved!
The Summer I Turned Pretty (2022)
Team Conrad! Overall, comparing it to other teen shows this was quite good!
I'm sorry but why do people dislike him?
His character was obviously going through something very tough. Additionally, he liked Belly even when she hadn't had her glow-up! So what he's a bit troubled, but he never did anything to make him a bad character. It was more a bad phase, one that everyone noticed. They constantly said something about him changed and he even tried to tell Belly.
Honestly, I disliked Jeremiah more. He only liked Belly when she was pretty, and made a move when he caught her kissing Conrad. He and Belly have brother and sister chemistry at best.
I feel people who hate on the show forget that teen shows will always have some cheesiness to them. A show like Euphoria (a much better made show) wouldn't even count as a teen show as teens should definitely not be watching it. Like what teen show has ever not been cheesy? This one at least has good actors, beautiful setting and a cute story.
Spencer (2021)
Looks nothing like Diana and acts like older Bella from Twlight
Stop exploring Diana and making constant movies on her whilst casting terrible actors to play her! Like who in the world thinks Kristen can play Diana?!?
Yellowjackets (2021)
Amazing plot, but writers will ruin it if they drag it 5 seasons
This show DOES NOT need more than one season. The present day characters are just not interesting enough. Season 2 should focus more on wilderness and getting to the point. I skipped so much of season 1 present day character stories.
Boo, Bitch (2022)
Funny, cute and basically if you like NHIE or TKB then you'll like this
I enjoyed this show! It's quite entertaining and at points I really laughed a lot! The romance is also semi-cute at points and all together it keeps you hooked. I did however feel the downgrade of characterization for Erika was so dragged and annoying. At times I couldn't stand her so I skipped a lot. They needed to tone that aspect down. I also didn't like how she was so horrible to Gia and then switched to be caring once she was shunned. I wish they showed a bit more explicitly that her downgrade was more of a coping mechanism so her character wasn't as insufferable. I loved Gia and was so sad with her faith in the show. However, if you liked Never Have I Ever, Kissing Booth etc. You'll like this.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022)
Funny but the story is not at all like Bhool Bhulaiyaa
The movie was funny and I quite liked Karthik Aryan! But the movie's story is literally the same plot as the movie Alone with Bipasha Basu. In that move also they were twin sisters and one was a bad spirit and at the end it was revealed the good sister was the spirit and the bad one was with the guy. Same thing is copied in this movie so quite unoriginal. Also, the charm of the first movie and the psychological thrill is not at all there. It's a great horror/comedy and I enjoyed it but not at all like Bhool Bhulaiyaa.
The Fame Game (2022)
Had potential but dragged on
The first 4-5 episodes are just boring. The problem is that the characters are not strong and they show too much of their lives. It's more a drama than thriller but with extremely weak characterization where you don't really care for anyone except Anamika, Manaish and Madhav. Their parts were the only interesting bits, along with the slight unveiling of the truth. However, lot of cliches involved plus the climax was very gone girl like, however, unlike gone girl we are suddenly left with this mystery whether Anamika is a good person or just another fame hungry star. Throughout the show she's shown as a very good person and would do anything for her family. However, suddenly towards the end she becomes this ruthless woman who is ready to blame an innocent boy for everything she did and shows little remorse for Manish's death? Her characterization was suddenly gone down hill and it kind of killed the show. I don't think it needs a season 2, they should've ended it here. Actors did a good job though so I give them that credit.
The Batman (2022)
As good as the Dark Knight
The story was amazing just kept you in for 3 hours and you couldn't blink and eye because it was all crucial. No screen time wasted! Pattinson and Kravitz were amazing of course and wow what a genius Matt Reeves is! The riddler was such an intriguing villain! Loved every bit of it!
Fresh (2022)
The trailer gives away nothing!
I saw the trailer for this film and I was thinking it's going to be something very different than what it was. However, loving both the leads, I was drawn to watch it and of course the amazing trailer really pulls you in.
Sebastian was AMAZING! He played a crazy, sadistic and vile character of Steve so well. You could see by his dancing, expressions, and every move basically how mad he was. His obsession and love for cannibalism was very disturbing mainly because he acted so damn well.
Daisy was of course fabulous as well! She was vulnerable and strong as the movie progressed and played her character so well. She represented the everyday girl who goes on dates and deals with some not so pleasant conversations. Overall very natural acting and loved how she progressed in the movie as well.
I also loved Jonica T. Gibbs! She was so natural as Daisy's best friend and their relationship was very real. Of course in real life not sure if a friend would do what Jonicas character did for Daisy's but overall their friendship reminded me of mine with my girlfriends.
The story was shocking, gripping, disturbing and sad. I don't think it was a comedy and nor should be as it's a situation that can very well happen in real life to girls which is the sad world we live in. I think using Sebastian as this attractive nice guy was a good move to show how creeps don't always look like creeps. The love story aspect of him falling for her is the only thing that made audience zone of of how realistic it was and I was glad they added that in there because otherwise it was tooo realistic to watch and could be much more disturbing.
Overall, loved the movie! A good Horror/Thriller!
Fleabag (2016)
Well written, funny and amazing acting
This show is so clever as it truly shows a real life relationship between family members and just people. There were so many times I felt like things should've gone a certain way or fleabag should've said something but in reality that's how things work. Families fight, disappoint but at the end love each other. That's shows through Claire and Fleabags relationship. They both love each mother so much yet always biker and never show it. I was sad she didn't end up with the priest but that's life and I really enjoyed their relationship. Overall what a great show and wish there was more! Thank you Phoebe for this genius!
Inventing Anna (2022)
Entertaining and great acting!
I think we all know that any show based on reality will not have 100% reality to it. Keeping that aside, the show was very well made. With long 1hr+ episodes seeming like only 25 minutes have passed, I know I was hooked. Julia Garner was amazing as Anna! She made your gut wrench and hate her at some points and actually have empathy for Anna at some. Regardless, Anna Delvey is interesting. The way every story unfolded and especially the Morocco episode, amazing! Definitely a binge watch crime drama!
Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui (2021)
Funny and great message but could have been delivered better
I enjoyed the movie and of course it had a good message. However, we should have seen more of Maanvi's character's story. I think to create more acceptance for the trans community in India, this movie could've given a bit more context about the journey of Manvi. Just a glimpse into her childhood, her story, what she went through etc. Instead the movie just rushed into Manu's journey of acceptance. That was great, but we needed bit more depth to the film. It's only when people can connect and sympathize with a character can they understand why it's important to be more accepting in real life as many could be facing the same struggle. The story was very predictable and followed a similar pattern of a typical Ayushman Khurana movie. Could've had more depth so there is more empathy and acceptance for the transgender community in India.
However, overall the movie was entertaining and delivered a good message. Loved Vaani and Ayushman and their pairing was fresh and fun to watch.
Last Night in Soho (2021)
Loved it!
Very original story with just amazing sets, costumes, cinematography and of course, acting! Both the leading ladies did an amazing job and looked stunning in the 60s glamour and hair. Rest of the supporting cast were great too. Definitely watch it in the theatre for the amazing sound track and cinematography.
The Wedding Guest (2018)
Loved Dev Patel and Radhika Apte, but plot could be stronger
The movie was a great one time watch. The chemistry between Radhika Apte and Dev Patel was insane! They should be in another movie together. They were stunning on screen and just fabulous actors. The plot however was a bit weak and I would maybe categorize the movie as a Drama. Overall though a good watch sorely due to the amazing actors and the amazing contrast shown between Pakistan and India.
Ojing-eo geim (2021)
Amazing show just amazing! But someone please update the correct actors on the IMDB page as it's all wrong and the right actors are not getting the credit!0
One of the best shows I've watched! Everyone of the actors was so so good.
Clickbait (2021)
Loved it and binged it in a day
I really liked this show, as it offered all the great things a good thriller offers. Every episode I guessed a new killer and the ending was truly something I didn't expect. However, I do feel ending fell flat as the motive behind Dawn doing all this wasn't clear. She had a nice life and husband and was elderly. Like it was a weak motive for her to have all these sexual fantasies and relationships online with these women but isn't into women at all and happily married? Why? Like they needed to make her motive more convincing and that's the only reason I take 2 points way from a 10 score because I genuinely really liked this show. People saying Matt should've been it are picking the most cliche motive and killer. I also liked how the true killer and the person making the videos week different. The unlikable main characters like Pia and Sophie worked well to keep us doubting they had a hand into this - especially Pia! I really thought she may have known something about her brother and done this. Funny enough the name of the show really should've given away the ending - clickbait, you think it'll be something but it wasn't it at all! So you think Nick did all these horrible things but it wasn't even him. Overall a very good binge watch and hope Netflix gives us more of these shows!
After We Collided (2020)
20 mins in and I was like nope
Tessas character has gotten so much more annoying. Like of course first day if her internship she sleeps and drools on her dress but her boss takes her to a fancy party and lets her stay in a lavish hotel room? Of course she gets drunk and gets them the deal then sleeps with Hardin. So predicable and boring but whatever I made it through. Then next day she (wearing the same smelly clothes) gets so excited that Trevor got her a car deal she excitedly kisses him? Ugh such a irritating character I had to stop watching from there.
Somebody Feed Phil (2018)
Love this show and love Phil!
With travel restrictions all we can do is live vicariously through travel shows and this one has to be my favorite. Phil's personally is so infectious and fun - he just makes everyone he meets comfortable. I love the places he selects to go to as well and the AMAZING food he eats with upmost passion. You just know he's a foodie! But what I love most is how respectful he is to different cultures and food dishes from around the world. He never judges and always makes the chefs (Michelin stars or street vendors) feel so good with his compliments. He's so funny too! I hope he continues after travel restrictions are lifted as I need to binge watch another season!!
Indoo Ki Jawani (2020)
Fun watch!
I liked it and I though both leads were really cute and fun! A light hearted comedy! I don't get the bad reviews? I feel people expect too much out of Bollywood! Why can't a female lead be funny? If this was Ayushman Khuranna as a lead this would have 7+ rating. Bit hypocritical.
Love Aaj Kal (2020)
Is Imtiaz Ali ok?
Expected bad acting from the actors but the story and direction was awful too!
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
Slow build, but worth the end
Just pull through the first few episodes because the last few are worth it!
The Haunting of Bly Manor: The Romance of Certain Old Clothes (2020)
This episode was breathtaking and the star of this show
The story here is simple, but the way it's told is truly astounding. The black and white tone with the olden day setting just started the episode out in a truly Edgar Allen Poe style gothic-a and I loved every vid of it. From the moment Viola got ling disease, it became truly unsettling. Seeing her slowly wither away but still alive like a zombie like state was so scary. It brought out the true fears of of life which isn't usually ghosts but diseases like so which take away the quality of your life and make you feel trapped. Which brings me to the second part when Viola dies and is trapped in that box...that was just so unsettling. Just trapped in a state of repeat "she was sleep, she would wake, she would walk and she would sleep". It was just so disturbing to see a soul trapped this way forever. Finally to learn who the white lady was and why she killed so many. It was like an urban legend come to life in the best way! Kate Siegel was just amazing in this episode! Overall it was just so sad and that brings out the true horror of this episode. Sadness and forever trapped in a loop.
Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives (2020)
I loved it!! On behalf of reality TV lover, PLEASE DO SEASON 2!!
Netflix has so many reality TV shows that are guilty pleasures. This has definitely become mine! With real housewives doing so well, this was the perfect time to bring this show in. I loved all the women, especially Seema and Maheep! But honestly all were good and their friendships and quirks were fun to watch. I think Karan's lunch scene and the stalker in Doha seemed little scripted but what reality TV isn't? Please do season 2! Trust me all reality TV lovers want it back and most people criticizing it don't watch Reality TV!
The Kissing Booth 2 (2020)
Loved it. Perfect chick flick better than 1
Haven't watched a good chick flick in a while now and wasn't expecting much from KB2. However it pleasantly surprised me and watch really entertaining, cute and fun!
The Final Table (2018)
Good show but some judges were like why them?
I can't talk as much about the other episodes but what was with India and the stupid judges they got? The most useless food critic who clearly said most important ingredient in makhni sauce is coriander leaves?! No it's fenugreek leaves!! Plus she was so arrogant and you could tell has no idea about food. Then a vegetarian actor? Like no you can't judge a cooking show as a vegetarian! Even the lame challenge of making butter chicken without chicken?
I also couldn't stand the arrogant Italian chef!
Overall I loved all the contestants so that was fun and honestly the Japan episode pulled the show it was the best one! I also thought Shane should have fun but that's just my opinion I guess!
