Vikingulven (2022)
Common sense people! That is all we ask!
Yeah, well, this movie tried to do something, it did not quite get it.
I strongly believe that if all movies would have at least 80% common sense, we would have a lot more masterpieces, or at least good movies.
Let's see some scenarios and talk about common sense:
- You shoot the werewolf with tranquilizer enough to put an elephant to sleep. It kind of works, the wolf does not go down but it starts to wobble. What do you do? Common sense: shoot it again and again until it goes down. What do the characters do? They run away just to do the EXACT same thing that common sense stated: use another tranquilizer dart to put the licantrop to sleep. GREAT! You just bought yourself 10 more minutes of run time at the cost of being stupid!
- How on Earth did Arthur cut his arm? The wolf did not touch him and the bulb obviously broke on the wolf's back.
- Apparently Arthur and the mother ( can't remember her name, that's how hollow the characters were ) completely forgot they have 2 daughters. Thale just gets in and out, no one asking anything for SEVERAL DAYS IN A ROW. Jesus! No one bothers to ask her anything???
- I just saw every Hollywood cliche ever in this movie: disfunctional family created to advance the plot, unobidient daughter that does what she wants to advance the plot, breaking steps on the stair etc.
- How can you go to a wolf hunt with your rifles NOT LOADED? How?
- We spent like 20-30 minutes of run time on the ideea that the mother can not shoot her daughter. Ok, makes sense. We tranqulized her! Great, makes sense. After all this she just killed her! Wait wait wait! Why? Didn't you just say you can't, which is understandable? Wasted time!!!!!
- Who on Earth puts the bullet they used to kill their daughter, next to her photo to remind them of her????? JESUS!
- Another situation: you are being chased by a licantrop, you shoot the lock of the door, what do you do? Common Sense: you burst in the door full power with your shoulder first as you have no time to play around. The characters: wait some seconds to back up just to be able to kick the door because it looks COOL, thus losing a masive amount of time!!
COMMON SENSE PEOPLE, please!!
The Sea Beast (2022)
Awesome animation for everyone.
Very beautiful movie. Appealing for both kids and for grown ups. The landscapes were amazing, the animation was one of the best that was ever created. The story is very refreshing and relaxing to watch. The dialogues are just perfect.
There are action scenes, emotional scenes, cute scenes, funny scenes.
Awesome soundtrack also.
It has something to learn for the kids too, but is also packed with enough action to keep grown ups hooked.
I honestly think this movie will remain a super great one in time, and it may also rival with other classics like "Frozen" or " How to train your dragon".
Will definitely rewatch.
Athena (2022)
Very good movie, misunderstood by many people
The camera work of this movie is itself something worth watching. It gives so much immersion, that it held me glued down to the chair.
The actor are TOP Notch, they feel their characters and act accordingly.
It also appears that this movie is somewhat of a social experiment: it shows how people would cope in this kind of situation.
It really does not matter that they don't show every single detail regarding the little brother's death. Whatever... It let's you to believe whatever you want: they were corrupted DEA officers, they were not even cops, believe what you want. The important thing here is to see the pain of the other brothers, to see how innocent people, like the cop, get dragged into conflicts like this and almost lose their life.
Very immersive experience, very good.
Forget about the 1-2, stars reviews that blame the hollow plot: the plot was not the ideea here, the ideea was to see how people react to certain social events.
In this case the plot is hollow because maybe no one actually knows how it happened.
Just think about all the events in real life: do you really know if what you see on news is true? Do you?
All you can do is act accordingly to what you see, not knowing if you know everything, or if you know anything for that matter.
Very good movie, misunderstood by many people.
The plot was not the point, the actions of the people were the plot.
Lou (2022)
Not bad.
Pretty good film. Even though the characters are not memorable and not very well developed, but this is still a movie and not a very long one, so it's understandable, it is pretty fun. But it still has some issues like:
- Please don't go together on that rope bridge at the same time.
- Please just shoot the bad guy in the head when you have the chance.
- Please don't get to the close range of the enemy when you have a ranged weapon, like a gun.
- If they were so important for the CIA to kill, that they are willing to kill civilians, they were obviously going to confirm the kills by going down and shooting one more bullet to the head. Also, they most likely would have retrieved both bodies, so...
- Please understand that a thin rope like the one they used to tie the door in the lighthouse, can not hold a fully grown man from opening the door by bumping in it full power.
Still, fun movie.
The Imperfects (2022)
Interesting and engaging show
This show, despite it's average ratings being low is actually pretty solid. The characters are very funny, they did crack me up a lot of times and they have good chemistry. The actors were all spot-on, they all understood their characters and brought them to life really really well.
The reason I am going to say this is a 9/10 is because sometimes I had the feeling they skipped a few dialogue lines, and it kinda made it a bit hard to follow how they got there, how they came to that conclusion, how they know that. This may also be because there are moments when they are talking super fast, which adds to the overall atmosphere of the show, but if you miss a single dialogue line, you are done. I am not talking here about the moments where they transition between scenes super fast, like that one scene with Juan, those transitions are super nice.
Also, I would say there were one or two moments where they kind of chose if the people standing next to Abbi would inhale her feromones to advance the plot. They most likely would have inhaled them, but whatever...
Overall, pretty nice show, hoping for season 2.
The 100 (2014)
Very very good, but very very flawed
This is one of the best shows I have ever watched. I watched it twice actually. It is very fast paced, the scene changes every season, new plots, new characters, BUT it is also very flawed. Looking back at it the second time, I am actually having a hard time remembering why I loved it so much. I still like it, it is still one of the best shows out there, but still it has SO MANY flaws:
1. Transitioning from season 2 to season 3: they had like nothing in Arcadia ( the crash site of the ark ), but in season 3 they just happen to have a ROVER, a fully working car with a machine gun, really guys?
2. Transitioning from season 5 to 6, everybody seems to have taken every little disagreement they had before the crio sleep, and taken it 100 notches up. I can't even remember why they were mad to begin with.
3. Bellamy's death is like the most pointless death EVER. Clarke did not take that stupid notebook from him, not to mention she could have just shot him in the leg or something.
4. Characters go from rational human beings to mass murderers in like one episode. E.g: Bellamy's get tricked by Pyke in just a few sentences into becoming a mass murderer, just because he trusted Echo, a spy at that time and things went south. OMG shoot me pls.
5. The ending of season 5 should have been the finale, it was just perfect. It made me cry twice. Monty's and Harper's sacrifice was one of the most emotional scenes ever. It was just a perfect ending. But they made 2 more seasons, where they do exactly the same thing: kill each other. They introduced some weird new concepts like: time travel, reincarnation. Hmmm... not really a great addition to the series.
Every episode has something weird, stupid or idiotic about it. I would need more than 4000 characters to point everything out.
BUT, the characters are pretty memorable, the finale gives some closure, the action is fast paced, there are plot twists, but not a lot of them. There are as many good things as there are bad things.
This review is weird, because I love and hate the series at the same time: I love it because of the action, the characters and many other things, and I hate it because of the action, the characters and many more things that could have been done BETTER.
There are many more flaws with the show, but it still remains one of my favorites. A must watch!!
Manifest (2018)
Interesting and not so much after the first season.
Review for the first season:
The show is interesting, pretty fast paced, entertaining, but it is not perfect, i.e:
1. Apparently no one goes to work: not Ben, not his wife, so how exactly are they paying for anything? At first I thought only one week or so passed, but it is later said that it has been 6 weeks since the beginning of the show.
2. The characters keep holding secrets from each other in a manner that is actually frustrating because they always take cover behind "you won't understand". Really? Try me for God's sake. It is obviously a move made by the writers to get the show in a certain direction, but in real world, nah, sorry, it makes no sense. Even more, Ben breaks up with his wife, but after telling her the truth, everything works well between them.
3. The bomb squad really cut the first wire they saw in the bomb without examining it first. Come on!!
Interesting, but in order for it to work, you must believe some things that are unbelievable, oh, and also not work a day in your life, Ben got fired and never got another job.
Review for season 2 and 3.
The writers are completely unbelievable. They forgot where Grace's brother died. They teleported his body from that little wooden thing where he kepts his weapons, right in front of his house. We keep dragging this not so good ideea that nobody can tell anyone anything. Jared gets dragged into weird situations because Mick can't tell him anything. Also Mick seems to be completely from another world: she looks at Vance's son through binoculars and does not call the cops. Apparently Saanvi got dragged into the water by some invisible force or something otherwise I can't figure out how she fell.
Her axe must be blunt because it can't cut a rope or whatever.
She fell in the water on the right side of the tail of the plane, but somehow she gets stuck under it. After that she is teleported back on the ship, no one knows who saved her.
Writers skip dialogue lines, entire scenes, and just end up teleporting characters back and forth with no logic. Very hard to follow, as they jump between 3-4 parallel scenes. I can't remember every single detail, and also know what they are doing because they just don't say what they are doing, they are just teleported there.
BAD. Looking forward to see if Netflix can save this.
Narco-saints (2022)
Very interesting.
This show is surprisingly good. I really love how they combined languages and ethnicity throughout the show. The casting is spot on i.e: if people talk English, they talk English, if they speak Korean they speak Korean. There are some shows that are actually supposed to be speaking Chinese or other languages, but they do that for 10 minutes and then switch to English to make it easier to follow. This is not one of those shows, and in my opinion it really adds to the authenticity of the overall atmosphere. The characters are well developed, and most importantly: it really is an engaging show. I really look forward to see more of it.
The Mist (2017)
Worst show ever
Yeah, well this was probably the worst written show EVER. Only watched it because I hoped it would get better. Bad actors, especially Alex who has the same face in every scene, bad dialogue like: I went there and I did that and I did not find that and I did that and and and and and and and and... Characters are too retarded to be alive. Kevin would rather spend time in a hospital full of strangers than go save his family. The mist does not enter through bullet holes. Every door in the series is air tight XD. They keep every light in the hospital on when they have only 1 day energy left. The fix internal bleeding and a punctured liver using napkins XDDD. Honestly the writers really want you to be brain dead to believe this show. Worst show ever.
