This is suppose to be serious but it is funny as hell!
24 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
A Man dies after having sex with a horse basically - How much more do you need to know lol - OK so thats a cheap shot, it's not exactly a bestiality movie or anything of the sort. It is just plain weird - very different and I hope it gains the recognition it deserves because so many movies are carbon copies of the same crap we've been seeing forever and originality is rare in film these days - so thank god for something as out there as this - watch it people!

Sundance has always got the goods and one can only hope the good films make it and the crap stays hidden, I also want to recommend the movie TEETH which was a hidden masterpiece about a legendary story that needs to be put onto film. Thumbs up to these brave filmmakers.

Kathy Bates is the best thing about this one.
18 December 2006
I watched this with a friend the other day and I had a pretty good idea what I was getting myself into. Its written by a woman it stars women and its set in the south. Can you say chick flick.

I knew my grandpa loved the movie and considered it his fave and he had somewhat decent taste in movies, but this just didn't have that comedy feel to it. I walked away feeling as if I had watched a lifetime movie of the week.

Jessica Tandy is a sweet old woman who has played in a handful of movies I like throughout the years. Stan Shaw is the man and I was glad to see him here although his role in this movie was rather boring.

The Couch family was the best reason for watching the movie Gailard Sartain is just one of those 80's actors who always played the same silly character in most of his movies but he was always fun to watch. Kathy bates was doing one of her many 'out there' roles as she played the lonely in love Mrs Couch and I loved seeing her on this film.

It is basically a movie where Kathy Bates character meets Jessica Tandy's character in an old folks home and is told a story about a girl and a boy and a best friend and that best friends abusive husband and about the kkk and fried green tomatoes and the whistle stop café.

The story was told over numerous visits to the old folks home and the story bored me silly, I did as I mentioned above, love the parts with Kathy Bates in between.

This movie wasn't funny really, but it was dramatic and if you're into the whole chick flick thing then go for it. Its one of those movies your grandparents would like. I am glad I watched it, but never wanna see it again.

Oh no its a Native American slasher movie!
24 November 2006
So I got this somewhere recently and for some reason put it on to watch. It looked super duper cheesy and sometimes I get in the mood for that. I put it on and saw a dark poorly made movie and thats always reason to make me wanna quit watching, but I didn't.

It was a plot thats been done a million times of archaeologists digging on sacred ground and the mummy of a native American comes and kills a bunch of people! the end LOL.

It was decent for a slasher movie and although I never want to see it again I will say if you like slasher movies that it is pretty good. Its not just a slasher movie its a bit deeper plot wise. Very rare movie, so if you find it you might wanna watch it.

Funniest movie I have seen in years.
24 November 2006
I heard nothing positive about this movie what-so-ever but I bought it because I love Steve Martin. He is one of my favorite actors. I wasn't expecting too much from the movie either. I had not seen any of the old Pink Panther movies.

When I put this movie in I was laughing out loud and laughing hard within 5 minutes. I thought it was the funniest movie I've seen in a very long time. I guess Goldmember was the last movie I had seen that made me laugh this hard. I watch tons of movies so it was great to see a movie that was actually funny. It was perfect.

I come here and see it has a rating of 4.9 - I see the world is full of critics that wouldn't know a good movie if it bit them on the ass.

This movie is laugh out loud silly craziness. If you want to laugh watch it. If you want some romance chick flick crap then find the latest Tom Hanks or Julia Roberts movie. If you want a teen comedy about some horny kid trying to get laid there is one being made every week in Hollywood. Dark comedies are rare but if thats your thing go look in the bargain bin cause they always end up there, but if you simply wanna laugh then you must watch this. I do not know how you couldn't think this is great.

Peter Sellers is the ONLY reason to watch this movie.
24 November 2006
I watched The Pink Panther with Steve Martin recently and thought it was one of the funniest movies ever made, so it had me wanting to see the older films.

I went and spent $60 something dollars buying the pink panther collection of Peter Sellers movies. I am still hoping I didn't throw that much money away.

So far this movie is the first one I have watched of the set. It was a very very very boring movie to me. I watched a bunch of scenes that seemed to drag on forever with a bunch of crappy 60's actors that are about exciting as watching ice melt. David Niven is as boring as my grandmother and shes dead. In fact this movie killed me to set through.

THEN THERE IS PETER SELLERS.

When he was on the screen I was laughing. That man is a legend. A god amongst actors, amongst people.

I watched The Life and Death Of Peter Sellers recently and gained even more respect for him. Id recommend people watching that as well before seeing these, or at least in addition to seeing these.

When Peter Sellers was first told about the offer of doing this movie he rejected it because it was not a staring role and he thought he was too good for that. Blake Edwards was an American film maker and his manager thought by doing The Pink Panther that he would gain more fame in the states so he agreed. Now he is mostly famous because of this role.

He truly shines on film and especially playing the inspector in this movie. He improvised most of his scenes as well and it was funny knowing he made a lot of this up on the spot.

Watch the movie, suffer through the crap and just wait for Sellers. If not for him I would've given this movie a 1 rating and thats only due to the fact there is no 0 rating.

I have my fingers crossed the other Pink Panther movies will be better.

In Cold Blood (1996)

I couldn't recommend it, but then again it wasn't too bad.
24 November 2006
I watched this on T.V. when it first came out. I would've bet money that it was in the late 80's but it says here its 1996. I watched it with my sister and we only got to see the first part of the miniseries. I really was locked in by the whole attitude Anthony Edwards carried and the hate he showed.

The rest of the cast did nothing for me. Sam Neil is about as dry as an actor can get and Eric Roberts is an ugly no talent nobody who has never made a movie that he didn't cry in. I guess he knows that his sister is a big millionaire and he's nothing - that must suck, and for the record I hate her with passion as well.

The production of this movie was so plain and not even worthy of a lifetime movie of the week in my opinion. the direction has to be a character within its self and that was the most boring aspect of this movie for me.

I found this DVD at wal-mart for $3 last month and just had to see the rest of it. I wish I had left it setting there and saved my $3.

Anthony Edwards was mean and I liked him in it though and thats the reason to watch it. The fear he puts into that family. I just found out today that this is a remake of a 1967 Robert Blake movie of the same name. I'll try to get it and see if it's better.

Quit being stupid and watch this without Michael Myers on your mind.
24 November 2006
This movie is a decent movie. Its Not great but it is different and as original of an idea as you can get. I watched it as a kid and yes I thought it was odd it didn't have Myers, but not everything to do with Halloween has to do with him. I thought perhaps it was a movie having nothing to do with the others and didn't pay any attention to directors and sequels etc when I was young and first started watching films.

Season Of The Witch is a very unique movie about a strange old man who for some reason wants to kill little children by using their masks. My only argument was that there were three masks to choose from and I am sure that, unlike tickle me elmo, not all the kids would want one. Who wants to look like everyone else.

This movie always entertained me as a kid and I will always continue to watch it when I watch the Halloween series. It is a nice break between the Michael Myers films which all look the same if you watch them back to back.

Tommy Lee Wallace did an amazing job writing and directing it and I am a fan of his work. I mean he wrote Amityville: The possession which is one of the scariest movies ever made.

This Halloween was suppose to be a new direction. Myers was dead and Carpenter wanted to release a new movie every year with a new Halloween theme, but all these stupid people started whining "wheres Michael Myers where is Dr. Loomis Wheres Jamie Lee" and they never gave this movie a chance - it shows that people who did that aren't very intelligent cause this was a pretty good movie - so I urge people to get their head out of their ass and watch this movie as Season Of The Witch and forget Myers for five minutes and with all the sequels and all the crappy remakes and Hollywood garbage being fed to us these days you should appreciate something original like this!!!

Tim Burton and Johnny Depp now that's a winning team!
10 November 2006
Tim Burton might just be the most interesting director from the last few decades and there's no doubt in my mind that Johnny Depp is the best character actor to ever grace the big screen. Neither are my favorites but extremely high on the list. I have always said that Johnny might not be my favorite actor but he is definitely the best, and watching movies like Edward Scissorhands is proof of that.

Edward Scissorhands is one of those movie characters that will forever be remembered and that's possible not only because of Depp, but Tim Burton's beautiful and artistic way of bringing him to life. The town and the castle on the hill and the perfect mixture of bright colors and dark ones to differentiate the moods and atmospheres surrounding those settings were on point.

I have noticed that this is the second feature film in which Burton really shined. The first being Beetle Juice, which was his breakthrough masterpiece, also had this direction style that took on a life of its own. When a director can just add so much beauty to a scene and do one of those shots that you just cant take your eyes off of that's rare and Burton does it so well.

The actors were amazing and are almost as memorable as Edward was. I was so happy to see Vincent Price in what I think might have been his last role. Price is a legend and like Ed Wood tried to do for Lugosi, Burton wanted to showcase the legend that Vincent Price was.

This movie is amazing and a historical cinematic gem. Watch it and I promise it will forever stick with you

Geoffrey Rush was PERFECT for this role!
9 November 2006
I like movies about real people, especially actors and musicians and the like. That is the main reason that I bought this movie, but I'll admit I didn't know much about Peter Sellers so I couldn't watch it and appreciate it to the fullest, at least that's what I was thinking.

I recently watched the new PINK PANTHER movie with Steve Martin and I am a huge fan of Steve's and I laughed out loud all through that movie and that is something that I rarely do.

I liked The Pink Panther so much that I wanted to see the older ones. I went and bought THE PINK PANTHER collector's edition box set with all the Seller movies.

I watched the first one also called THE PINK PANTHER starring David Nevin and co-staring Sellers. I hated the movie. It bore the hell out of me to be quite honest - BUT...Sellers was awesome. I loved the inspector and those scenes were priceless - absolutely perfect. So I gained a new respect for Peter Sellers.

I was looking through my movies wanting a comedy last night and I saw this movie THE LIFE AND DEATH OF PETER SELLERS and I knew it would be more of a biography/ drama styled movie but I decided I wanted to watch it.

I started watching and was blown away right off by how much Geoffrey Rush was like the real Sellers - amazing! The movie was great at showing how great of an actor Sellers was and how messed up his mind is. It's the perfect example of how genius and insanity are divided by a thin line.

He was wild but he basically thought he was nothing if he weren't funny. He thought that he was these characters that he was playing and that Peter Sellers did not exist. I found that to be amazing and for the record my initial thoughts were way off....you don't even have to know who Peter Sellers is in order to appreciate this movie.

It's a touching journey inside the world of a man who was just the shell for hundreds of other men who he let out and entertained movie goers worldwide. He is a legend and this is his story!!

I also must say I am now a huge fan of Geoffrey Rush because his acting in this movie was the best. He became Peter Sellers and he played dozens of parts as Sellers and it's hard enough to play another person, but to play another person playing another person and still seem so authentic...well thats just amazing

A funny movie full of heart! If only all comedies were this funny.
8 November 2006
I watched this movie tonight for the first time and wasn't expecting much from it. I am not a big fan of comedies and especially teen comedies. I bought this about 2 years ago and it is the unrated version. I have come to realize "unrated" in Hollywood is just a way to make a movie sell. It's like they show you the PG-13 version in theaters and then show you the R version on DVD, yet they call it UNRATED. I am here to tell you its not that nasty - it doesn't push the envelope or shock anyone.

BUT....

I loved it! It had so much heart and soul that I finished it thinking WOW. I laughed my ass of, I shed tears because it hit some personal notes and I won't ever forget seeing it.

I had to give it a perfect 10 rating because it impressed me that much. I loved these characters and thought they were well casted and worked so good together. Not a lot of big actors and I think that helps make a movie seem more real.

The story was great and it was very original and I think if you haven't seen this movie then YES go buy it or rent it or whatever because you will like it I PROMISE!

She's the Man (2006)

He's "all that"
8 November 2006
I figured when I watched this one that it would be your average teen comedy and I was right. I mean who hasn't seen a movie about a person dressing up as the opposite sex in order to get into a sports team or get something that they couldn't get as the sex they are.

I bought this a while back and was told it was okay and I wanted a comedy tonight and I thought 'what the hell'.

SHE'S THE MAN had pretty basic acting and a pretty basic story. It didn't impress me at all, but it is worth a watch. Its a fun little movie involving funny characters, funny twists, great one-liners, sexy actors, soccer action and a talking fish - OK so it didn't have a talking fish, but I wanted to get your hopes up and then let you down - thats kinda what this movie did for me - oh wait - I never had high hopes for it to begin with.

Go rent PORKY'S or THE LAST American VIRGIN - thats great teen comedy!

Batman (1989)

Tim Burton, Beetlejuice, Jack Nicholson, Prince and Lando Calrissian all in one movie!
8 November 2006
This movie is a childhood favorite of mine. We watched this movie over and over and over. I bet I have seen it 30 times and it was still exciting as I watched it again the other night. I am watching all of Tim Burtons movies and this is the third feature film he directed.

When Burton filmed Beetle Juice he finally showed us the Tim Burton trademark look and it was nice. However, when he did BATMAN he had to focus more on bringing this comic book legend to life.

In Batman we see many of the costumes and such that have became familiar in Burton films. We get to enjoy the beautiful use of color and sets that Tim is famous for. I think the direction was less artsy simply because it had to focus on the action and characters and let the stars shine and the director simply direct. If the name had not been attached I would not have been able to guess it was even a Tim Burton film.

The movie was great. Keaton as Batman was great. In the earlier 80's I would've found it hard to believe that the MR. MOM/ GUNG HO star could've pulled off such a gig. In Beetle Juice Keaton did a great job and I gained a whole new respect for him. He lived up to it again in BATMAN.

All of the actors did a great job and I am a die hard fan of Jack Nicholson and him doing the joker was absolutely perfect. They all did a good job, it was a wonderful film and we all went out and bought the BATMAN shirts and toys and playing cards and don't try to deny it we all had the soundtrack and were bumping Prince from our speakers for a while there.

Disney is just running out of ideas
7 November 2006
I have to admit that Disney cartoons have always been my least favorite and although they have a few that are really good, most are a bit boring.

My problem with Disney was that their animation was dull to me. Some of them like Snow White and actually most of the pre 1980 animated classics were nicely animated but then they seemed to get dull and boring.

Even though I am not the biggest fan of Disney it still bothered me to learn they had shut down the animation department a while back. I think that was crazy and they will eventually bring it back.

Computer animated movies have taken over the last few years and although I dislike CGI in live action films, I do love it in cartoons. Movies like TOY STORY and HOODWINKED are very fun to watch, very crisp and neat.

I thought this movie was beautifully pieced together, but it lacked story and excitement. The characters left much to be desired and its no wonder why I left a vote of 5 and so did almost everyone else who has rated this movie. It is a middle of the road average movie. It will shut the kids up, but keep the adults and older lads bored out of their mind.

I will never watch the DVD again and I would not recommend it to anyone. There is a lot more out there to watch so don't waste your time with this.

One positive note, The vocal talents were great, especially Ewan McGreggor and John Clease.

Proof (2005)

My review is PROOF that this movie is boring!
7 November 2006
Yea sorry folks, but this movie did absolutely nothing for me. A friend of mine told me it wasn't half bad and I expected a good story and figured these actors would not have taken the role if it were bad. I was wrong on all accounts because the story left a lot to be desired, I mean If I had cared about the characters a bit more perhaps I would've like it.

Paltrow plays this girl who has taken care of her father for the last few years. Her father (played by Hopkins) was a one time mathematical genius who went crazy. Taking care of her father has made her give up on a lot of her dreams including dropping out of college and she becomes a bit of a headcase herself. One of her father's admirers (Gyllenhaal) wants to go through his memoirs and writing in hopes of finding some sort of amazing proof.

Going through his work he finds himself getting closer to the truth and closer to proof that the craziness his teacher had was heretic and that insanity and genius are separated by a very fine line.

This movie was a nice change of pace from everything being spoon-fed to us in the theaters these days. I watched it and didn't hate it, but it was rather boring and even for a drama it still was a major let down. I cannot recommend it to anyone, the actors were great and that's about the nicest thing I can say about it, but these actors should've picked better roles and spared us all the load of crap that this movie is.

The Boring House of Frightenstein
7 November 2006
I bought this movie at Wal-Mart for a dollar because it had Vincent Price on the cover. I love Vincent Price and love Horror so I bought it and was happy to add it to my collection. I went to look it up on IMDb and noticed it had a rating of 7.9 so I figured it would be good. I found out it was a Saturday morning show aimed at kids and was beloved by all that watched it.

I just put the movie on a few minutes ago and I watched about 20 minutes of it – I am guessing it was the pilot episode that I watched but couldn't say for sure. What I can say for sure is that I was far from being impressed.

This show bored the living daylights out of me, I never even so much as cracked a smile for one thing said. The characters were stupid and annoying to say it in a nice way. It was badly pieced together and sloppy. I can't imagine even in 1971 kids thinking it was funny. The jokes were a bit more adult like in my opinion and its obvious they were aiming it at both kids and adults alike.

Vincent Price couldn't even save it for me. Seeing him do anything other than horror has always been hard for me to enjoy. In this one he just sat and said little stupid rhymes in between the skits. His motives for doing such a crappy show are beyond me.

People, if you like this show please explain to me why.

If you have never seen it, then avoid it.

It's bad…very, very bad!

Beetlejuice (1988)
10/10
Movies this great don't come very often. Tim Burton rules.
7 November 2006
People tell me Im too friendly about giving out 10 stars, but thats not true. If a movie is perfect, then its perfect and BEETLE JUICE is flawless.

I watched this movie over and over as a kid and it never got old, there was just something about it that I loved. The weird characters, the scenery, the songs it was just great.

I never thought much about anything like actors, direction, production, sets and such as a kid - everything was taken at face value and that was enough.

These days I am very much in to the directors and writers and every aspect of a film. Directors can just point a camera and film a scene and its OK when that happens, but then there are guys like Tim Burton. He is a director but hes more part of the scene than any actor is, his style is unique and no one can do what he does.

This was his second real film following PEE-WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE and that movie he didn't really show much of who he was, it was a good movie but it wasn't a Tim Burton movie. In BEETLE JUICE we see amazing colorful sets and weird characters and it's just a movie you can not take your eyes off of.

It's fun and the actors are absolutely perfect. The house and the other worlds are amazing. The songs and the scenes involving them are impossible to ever forget.

This movie is a comedy, but its perfect for the whole family. It has a few scenes where the language might not agree with some parents but it isn't bad. It has elements of horror too which is great and I do not know how anyone could not love it or appreciate it. One thing is for sure, any who watches it will never forget it.

Had a few funny moments and chocked full of funny one liners.
7 November 2006
I very rarely watch these "chick flick" type of movies, but a friend asked me to watch it and I gave it a try and it was worth watching. I will have to admit I like Bette Middler and Goldie Hawn a lot and they shined here. Goldie Hawn alone is enough to watch it, her character was hilarious.

Many of the other actors were great and I love Bronson Pichett in all of his roles, this was his dullest and most unfunny role I have seen, but it worked. I hate Stockard Channing and was glad to see her commit suicide quickly. If she had been one of the main actors I would not have been able to watch it.

If you like movies that deal with personal feelings that we all go through this is for you. This is a perfect revenge movie for those of us who have been cheated on and would love to get back at our scum partners. It shows that no matter how rich or successful or perfect your life seems that truly everyone hurts and we all go through life the same and pain is pain and tears are tears and love is love or lack there of.

Touching, funny and full of those infamous one liners. Watch it and judge for yourself, its a fun movie.

Will to Die (1971)
3/10
I wanted so badly to not hate this, but it gave me no reason not to.
7 November 2006
Back when I was a kid and I lived with my sister, she bought every horror movie she could find and this was one of them. VCR'S had just became a household item and we didn't have but about 150 movies and we watched the hell out of all of them.

I was at a yard sale the other day and I saw this VHS copy of BLOOD LEGACY and I buy any horror movie I don't have and I knew this movie looked familiar. I thought for a second and realized it was one that my sister had bought. She had sold it years ago in a yard sale I am guessing - who knows.

I didn't recall anything at all about it and I watched it the night I bought it and it refreshed my memory because of a few scenes. I am not sure how I felt about it as a kid but I am sure I enjoyed it because it was new to me and I'd watch and enjoy anything back then.

I am a horror freak, but there are certain requirements in order for me to consider it "good" and this one fell very short. It was one of those talk talk talk and bore me to death types. What death scenes you see are done using the shadow on the wall followed by blood splatter and thats if you're lucky you get that much.

The story is good and I have seen a few with similar plots, so I think this one should be buried and forgotten. Don't watch this people unless you're hard up.

Halloween II (1981)
9/10
Better than part 1 because it's a real slasher, not just a psychological thriller.
7 November 2006
I decided I should watch these again and refresh my memory oh how great they are and then come here and talk about them. I reviewed part 1 and I think I have made a few Halloween fans mad as I talked about how it wasn't as great as what it was cracked up to be. I love part one but it was not scary nor was there a lot of killings. It was a bit dry and bored me at times.

Part 2 is a straight up slasher with lots of killings and a few scary scenes. It was a couple years after the first one and slasher movies were a dime a dozen by this time, but we slasher fans loved part 2 of Halloween because it took what so many of the slashers had evolved to and made one of the better slashers of the decade. It had become a cult fave because of the success of the first one and it had no problem quickly getting recognition.

It takes off right where part one ended and that was interesting. It was cool because when you watch the two back to back you cant even tell that they were filmed a few years apart. I loved it and just like Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers shows us here that he is not one to mess with and he will kill anyone who gets in his way.

I've heard so many people put it down and saying that Halloween should've been left alone and no sequels should have been made. I think though and I believe this 100 percent that if there had been no sequels that Michael Myers would not have been a household name and although part one would've lived on, it would not have been anywhere near as successful as it is now. The whole realm of horror and especially slashers would have been so much different and crappy without part 2 being made. It showed that a sequel can be successful and it helped movies such as Friday THE 13TH, SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT, NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET and such by showing them that no one wants to see them die in the first one – we want sequels forever. I love slashers and although many are bad still it's better than going to the theatre and seeing another damn Tom Cruise, George Clooney or Julie Roberts crappy blockbuster reigning supreme. Horror has almost taken over Hollywood and I couldn't be happier to see it. I will admit though that back in the day horrors were a dime a dozen, but only the good stuff made it to theatre - nowadays anything makes it. Companies like Miramax and Lionsgate are tossing out so many its crazy and they all seem to become pretty successful.

I think many of these should go straight to video and quit going to theatres and making people see them – it's giving horror a bad name. 99 percent of remakes suck ass and sequels are carbon copies of all that came before. Love seeing horror in the box office but hate seeing crap and knowing that no one even tries anymore. Anyone with a camera and/or a computer can make a horror movie and any movie company will buy it and everyone will watch it. What has happened to us people? Sequels are great, but give us a motive, give us a reason. Do not make these movies about someone coming back and killing more people; give me a reason why they had to come back. Halloween has done that better than anyone.

Remakes should focus on movies that need a remake, stuff that has been forgotten, not classics. Why remake stuff like NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, HALLOWEEN, PSYCHO, EVIL DEAD, and THE OMEN? We love those movies and everyone has seen the originals and loves them. Movies like Psycho, which was almost an exact copy of the original – stupid waste of time.

I want Originality and I want some talent and well written horror movies. Hollywood is killing my precious scary movie!!!!!

The night that real Horror was born
5 November 2006
So I was a little boy of about 8 years old and I secretly watched this movie at my grandpa's house on video and it scared the living daylights out of me. I had only seen a couple of movies on TV and when I watched this one it really changed my life. I was in my grandparent's house and basically alone because my grandpa was asleep and my grandmother was sick in the other room and she was confined to a hospital bed.

I watched the movie not holding my hands over my eyes or anything just sit there in a daze thinking how I couldn't move. I was afraid these dead people would be outside the walls and perhaps if they didn't hear me they couldn't bother me. It was scary as hell.

Now I am a grown man and I am a horror freak with a collection of movies that hit just a tad over the 5500 mark and about 3000 of those are horrors, if not more. I absolutely love horror and I prefer the slashers from the 80's but I like all types I have watched the silents all the way to the universal monsters of the 30s and 40s all the way through to the sci-fi fifties and the hammer 60's and they all hold dear places in my heart but I will have to say that to me George Romero took a bit from the classics and held true to the suspense but he did one thing that all those other movies couldn't – he straight up scared us.

Many of the older films were creepy and scary in there own way, but N.O.T.L.D. was the first one that wanted to flat out show us something scary and scare us and not just leave us to use our imagination, but show us what these monsters will do to us. The creepy soundtrack, the great actors and blood guts and WOW!! Almost 40 years old and still stands alone as being perfect and just as scary today as it was then. It's spawned many sequels, a remake and a zillion copies and still nothing compares to it. I think real horror was born with this movie and I don't know how any one could not love this movie. If you get a chance watch it, watch the sequels, the remake and you will see a bunch of great movies… watch this in its original black and white presentation. The colorized version takes so much away and also the 30th anniversary version with the extra scenes should be avoided if you are watching it for the first time. If you have watched it about 50 times like I have then the extra scenes are cool to see.

Boring movie - watch Die Hard again and don't bother with this.
4 November 2006
I love Bruce Willis movies and he rarely lets me down, and Richard Donner is awesome too, but hes been making more boring movies than exciting ones in the last while.

I had heard very little about this movie when I bought it and I just got around to watching it and it was the perfect 5 star out of 10 movie cause it wasn't awful nor was it good - just right in the middle.

A lot of gunfire and big budget bus crashes couldn't save this movie because the characters were dull and I could care less about any of them. Mos Def sucks as an actor and even Bruce was dry in this movie.

It was worth a watch I guess cause it's slightly different than most, but then again you will not see anything you haven't seen somewhere else. Just watch one of Donners great directed movies or a good action movie like Die Hard.

Filthy, nasty, disgusting, wild and funny as hell!
3 November 2006
I have watched several of the old Divine movies directed by John Waters and I always liked them, but this one stood out I think as being maybe the most disgusting one that I have seen.

Oral sex and sex with a chicken is one thing, but cutting the chickens head off and molesting its bloody headless body is another. The nudity, the filth, the eating dog crap all of that was just part of the plot to show Divine is the filthiest person alive and when someone else tries to take that spot, you see what happens.

I have to say it wasn't laugh out loud funny or anything, but it was full of laughs mostly from dialogue and the filthy stuff you see amazes you and it should keep you locked it.

If all of those things don't bother you then watch it, if you like John Waters or Divine don't miss it, but if you're just simply wanting to laugh then this may not be your movie. - this isn't comedy this is cult.

Halloween (1978)
7/10
Not the first, not the best, but very good and very important to the horror genre.
1 November 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I guess I take pride in being a horror movie geek. I am obsessed with the genre and find something good in almost all horror. I prefer slashers and zombie films above all and admire the writing style of Dardano Sacchetti, Stephen King, and Dario Argento.

As far as directors go so many stand out as being faves. Dario Argento, Lucio Fulci, Umberto Lenzi, Sergio Leoni, Lamberto Bava, Clive Barker and Sam Raimi are just a few of the ones I admire most.

John Carpenter has always stood out to me and remained very high on my list as well. Many of his movies are favorites, but I think the majority of the people will agree that Halloween is definitely his masterpiece.

I love slashers and as a kid was forbidden to watch horror and when I first got my taste of slashers in the form of Jason Vorhees I became obsessed with him and still to this day I think he is the greatest.

As I got older and started trying to get a hold of every horror I could it didn't take me long to stumble across Michael Myers. Part 4 and 5 were the first ones I watched and I absolutely loved them, bloody and lots of killings and just your average slasher - which to me is a recipe that will never taste bad.

I finally got to see part 1 and I liked it a whole lot less than 4 and 5 , but I was young and I wanted a killer and I wanted blood and part 1 was not anything like that. I have never been scared by slasher movies, its the psychological aspect that would get me, but Halloween even left much to be desired there for me.

As I got older I gained a lot of respect for the movie and see it in a different light now that I am 30 years old and tonight is Halloween 2006 and I just finished watching it for Im guessing about the 15th time and I wanted to express my opinion about it.

I have to say several things about it and the bottom line of it all will result in me basically saying I do in fact love the movie. I understand how so many people praise it for being the first of many, but I disagree by saying it wasn't the first slasher. It wasn't the first movie about a man in a mask. It wasn't the first movie about a babysitter being stalked. It wasn't the first movie that had teenage sluts getting killed. It wasn't the first movie involving a kid being a killer. It wasn't the first movie that had a mental patient escape and seek revenge. It wasn't the first movie about killings on Halloween, it wasn't even the first horror movie called Halloween.

It Was the first however to combine all of those things and make the world take notice in an overwhelming way. The one thing all other movies lacked was personality. Halloween has John Carpenter and no one else had that. The direction was amazing, the editing was great the lighting was PERFECT and the technical things that make a movie work all seemed to be as real and in your face as the characters themselves.

The great Donald Pleasence in my opinion was what sold the movie, he was the only one famous or with any credit really when the movie was being promoted. Moustapha Akkad was not known yet, John Carpenter had done a few things but nothing that had gained him much attention at all and all the other actors were either newbies or nobodies. Pleasence was a legend by the time Halloween was offered to him and I am glad he kept doing the sequels until he died.

I do not like Jamie Lee Curtis and I think the role could've been so much better with someone else playing it, she still to this day acts as if she is responsible for the fame of the series but she is way off.

Michael Myers - wow, what can one say about him? The mask, the stare, the knife, the determination, the shape, the shadow - the Boogey Man! He will be part of our movie legends guild forever. I really think 100 years from now that he will still be remembered and that this series will still be on cable or computer chips in out brain or whatever technology has in store for us in the future, that is if the series isn't still being continued in Halloween part 74.

This movie made a lot of people want to see these types of movies, many movies were made to copy it and it spawned several sequels. The first of the movie with its image of a child killer all the way to the mysterious rantings of Dr. Loomis about a kid who is pure evil with the blackest of eyes, all the way to the last shot of a man shot 6 times only to disappear and let us know the boogeyman is still there - the fear is not over - you can't stop being scared or locking your doors at night, cause evil has came to your little town.

Watch this movie and keep horror alive - real horror!

I was caught "enjoying myself" in the theater watching this one.
30 October 2006
OK so I didn't see this in theaters, and I definitely haven't masturbated while watching it, but I do enjoy it and always have.

Pee-wee is cool I don't care what anyone has to say. As a kid the teachers let us watch this in school and I liked it a lot, especially the scene where he dances to "Tequilla".

My sister became obsessed with Pee-wee Herman and even hung the movie poster to this up and she was in her 20's and married. The movie was always so great and she watched it at the theatre and I watched it later at school on video and went almost 20 years before I watched it again. I bought it on video for less than a dollar and watched it about 6 months ago and it was nice to see it again. It wasn't as great as I had remembered but I still enjoyed it.

I decided the other night I wanted to watch all Of Tim Burtons movies because there is a few of the newer ones I had not seen BIG FISH and THE CORPSE BRIDE and I decided I'd watch all of his from the beginning. I looked them up on this website and I already had every one of his movies so I didn't have to buy any of them and that was good. What shocked me though was this movie PEE-WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE. I had no idea Tim Burton did this movie. I had never noticed it.

I watched it and I was watching it for the direction and feel of it as far as visual more than story, and well it didn't feel like a Tim Burton Movie. It was a bit dry as far as direction style goes, but the actual direction was well adjusted with the screenplay.

Great story and great cast, one of those eighties guilty pleasures - gotta love it.

Hard Candy (2005)

Ellen Page made the movie amazing.
30 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I kept hearing praise over this movie from a friend and I had to watch it. I knew basically it was about a man who had a thing for young girls and the events that unfolded during his pursue of a 14 year old.

  • The following comments are very descriptive of the movie so they DO contain spoilers and you should be warned.

A young girl meets a guy on the internet who is in his 30's and they decide to meet. They meet at a coffee shop and through weird circumstances end up at his house. You find yourself fearing for the girl but find she is not the sweet innocent person she seems to be.

Ellen Page did an amazing job of being this little innocent, very kid like 14 year old with the adorable actions of a minor, the spunk of a pre-teen and the intellect of a young adult and you as a viewer could so easily imagine her being taken advantage of by this man.

When she arrives at his house the stage is set and she is setting it for him, we as a viewer keep thinking hes being extremely nice but wouldn't any "good" stalker/child molester probably be. Doesn't evil usually wear a smile?

The girl seems to be falling in a trap with every innocent word she breaths and I couldn't help but think that she is seducing him and that hes innocent, BUT THEN - POW - the tables are turned and you are smacked in the face and the truth hurts.. You think to yourself that perhaps you are scum too for feeling sorry for him for a while as she becomes this very intelligent, very adult like person who basically spells it out for him...

Grown men don't meet little girls from the internet. Grown Men don't invite little girls to their house. Grown Men do not offer 14-year olds liquor!!! Grown Men don't allow children to pose nude for them in their house alone!!!!

I found myself shamefully listening as I thought, Oh my god, I felt sorry for him for a second. I thought he was being tempted and it wouldn't be his fault. I felt like scum because she was right a grown man doesn't do any of those things - that is enough to make him scum, how could I have not hated him from the first.

Ellen Page, although playing a 14-year old, got in my face and hit me with the truth, hit this man with the truth, showed a reality that is as real as real can get, a reality that is much scarier than any Jason Vorhees, Michael Myers or Freddy Kruger movie. This is an average Joe who molests kids, your kids , my kids - this is horror...This is real.

The events that unfolded after that were light in comparison to what many of these guys need done to them, but it was still morbid and horrifying to see. I was not bothered so much by the torture, but I think anyone who has had thoughts like that about a kid might feel a tad uncomfortable seeing what she does to him.

The movie was pretty good as a whole, but I found it far from perfect. I absolutely loved Ellen Page and even thought Patrick Wilson was great. The direction and production values did very little for me, but in a drama such as this I rarely pay attention to that stuff.

I would like to know what made this kid do the things she did. Did she know the girl that was killed and think the man had something to do with it? Did she have a friend he had molested? My favorite theory is that perhaps someone else had done a similar thing to her and now shes seeking revenge. In that situation maybe she feels she can take her suffering out on just any child molester and get satisfaction. Perhaps she has done this before...perhaps she will again... Something for child molesters to fear. The Charles Bronson of the new millennium. Vigilante killers seeking justice. I wouldn't mind seeing such a thing happen to these guys who do this.

I am not one who doesn't believe that people do screwed up things because of the screwed up things that have happened to them. I know society, family, music, television whatever may make us crazy or mean or whatever, but it doesn't change the fact that if we harm other people that we deserve to be punished. Rehabilitated is the route I would prefer, but hey this made a decent movie and I don't see it causing any young girls to become stalkers - I don't see the hunter becoming the hunted in the near future, but perhaps some dirty child molester out there might see this and change his mind or get a tad scared, at least he will recognize and have someone telling him - Hard candy is hard to swallow and biting it might just break your teeth....
