Alison (2016)
Amazing woman, badly crafted film
I'd give Alison the human 10,000,000 stars for surviving and being an inspiration. Her telling of her story is so powerful! Alison the film, however, feels incomplete after the initial telling of the story. The filmmaker's attempts to tell more parts of the story fall flat and don't give Alison the woman the same space and power. Still glad I watched it, though. Alison the woman is an inspiration!
The Woman in the Window (2021)
The book was better
Headline says it all. The movie was fine. Very Lifetime Movie. But it didn't live up to the book at all.
Music (2021)
What is it about, exactly?
So, it's supposed to be about an autistic girl, but it's actually about her addict sister, mostly, and it's a "musical," but really it's just got random musical montages every now and then that don't always make sense in context, especially if the idea is that they're how the autistic sister understands the world. I mean, she's not even there for half of them! There's also a random possibly autistic character who lives nearby whose story is inserted in bits and pieces but it also doesn't always make any sense.
I wanted this movie to be good to make up for all the blowback it faced early on, and I went in willing to give it a chance, but it's just... so bad. Like, seriously, so bad. I have many questions.
