Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo (2020)
Stylish mass body with no brain
A Stylish Mass Body with No Brain Attached. AVPL rides highly on Allu Arjun's swag and eventually there's no other surviving factor in it. Before watching Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, you have to decide what you want to watch. If you're looking for a quality entertainer then please don't even think of watching it. But, if you're looking for a popcorn entertainer, when you can concentrate more on the flavour of your popcorn than the screen, then don't forget to watch AVPL on any weekend of your choice. The film starts on a ridiculous note but that's like a warm up. It gives you the idea about what you are going to see in the next 150 minutes. If you can hold yourself for an hour or so then be assured, you'll feel satisfied by the end. Every fight scene in the film is so stylish and so highly decorated that you may find it brainless but not irritating. Well, that's one of the USPs of the film is that despite being a stylish body with no brain, it never really becomes a headache. Yes, some scenes are too terrible for today's times, I mean even 70s masala entertainer had more logic but it's a complete package of entertainment for the TV audience. If they can endure those crappy daily soaps then this is much better. Murali Sharma did his best to win the Worst Actor award, not just with that crippled leg but crippled expressions too. However, there is one thing that lifts it up and that's Allu Arjun and his larger-than-life, out-and-out stylish image. Additionally, the second half shows some growth in IQ level after that senseless first half. That meeting room scene is hysterically massy. LIT! Rest of the cast is there only to fill the screen, and direction is strictly below average. Overall, a typical family drama with hit numbers, enough dose of entertainment and towered-tall, stylish swag of Allu Arjun. The TV audience can go berserk over it. They deserve it. That's one way to troll, ain't it?
Soorarai Pottru (2020)
Petrotic movie must watch
In my life time I haven't yet watched a movie like this. Such a Motivating Story which makes you entertained with such an amassing concept. Entertainment value next level, which I can say even I haven't watched a movie like this in Hollywood or any other industries. If someone say this movie doesn't have a good story plot, then probably that person doesn't know what is an epic story. Music in this movie does its best with unbeatable sounds that makes you amaze. In whole movie I didn't even saw a single scene which doesn't have no logic. This should hit The Indian Best film ever. Such a superb emotional beats that even made me cry. Suriya and all other cast had made their best action to make this film best. Beginning, ending, pacing, dialogue, editing, cinematography, camera work, costume design etc. Had done their best to make this movie "Nothing better than this Soorarai Pottru"
2.0 (2018)
Film is as per my expectations.
A plot that no sane person could actually believe, forcefully trying to convince audience. Make no mistake it has a great VFX and CGI but lacks the minimum sense of movie making and the basics of story telling. Pros: not much expect Amy Jackson.. and I think that says a lot. Cons: I dont know what to say except the whole movie. Its a finacially rich absurdity. Akshay Kumar comes as Pakshi Raj which literally means king of birds which is nothing but hillarious and Rajnikanth's chitti tries to win the battle in a shootout. Guys before you watch a heads up- LOGIC ZERO and I mean a big ZERO but thats not what dissapoints me. What dissapoints me is that there is nothing much to enjoy at all except Akshay Kumars back story where he performs well (only good acting seen through out the film). Guys I strongly recommend guys who were anticipating th e release of this movie to watch it and judge yourself but those who are in doubt know this YOU AIN'T GONNA ENJOY THIS 🤐 peace out.
Laxmii (2020)
Love acting of Akshay Kumar in this film
This is special
2 minutes in, something felt wrong, I'd pressed play because I like Sci-fi and I like Bruce. At 24 minutes I came here to make sure I wasn't alone in thinking, what the actual F.
I think the BBC must have found the old sets for Red Dwarf and sold them to these guys because everything looks super cheap and the special effects are comical. The plot makes no sense, the characters make no sense, the acting is insanely bad. As a little side side point, why the hell would you have a cleaning product on a spaceship that if not diluted can literally eat through metal?
Sometimes really bad can still be fun, this is not one of those times.
Talk to Me (2022)
Hand of pure evil
Group of youngsters discover that by taking part in a small ritual involving an embalmed, ceramic hand, that they're able to contact spirits from the other side.
One of the better horror films I've seen for some time, when I compare to the other horrors I've seen in 2023, this rates as the best so far.
Talk to me has a degree of originality, it's loaded with jump scares, and has some genuinely memorable moments. The writing was rather good, everything pieced together nicely, including that pretty shocking opening sequence.
Quite graphic at times, it wasn't afraid to show a bit of gore, eyeball, that's all I'm saying, I had to look away. I loved that deliciously dark closing scene, it was such a strong, cohesive end to the film, it really worked.
There were a couple of clichés, and there were a couple of moments where you're left scratching your head, puzzling whether people would actually do the things that happened here, but those are minor faults, the only major gripe I had, was the rebirth of The Crazy Frog music (I thought our ears had been spared that years ago.)
They trailered Cobweb and Nun 2, will either of them surpass this one? Will have to wait and see.
K.G.F: Chapter 2 (2022)
Superhit movie goosebumps overloaded
The screenplay, cuts and sound effects deserves a standing ovation. There are illogical moments but that don't take away you, because the Director keeps you invested in the 'state of disbelief' and that is the success of this movie. There is hardly any sugarcoating to the criminal angle of Rocky, and it is more of a man with a promise to fulfill. Kudos to the entire cast and crew for a honest 'masala movie'!!The screenplay, cuts and sound effects deserves a standing ovation. Beast (2022)
Crinage action with good storyline acted by Vijay
Nelson's last film, "Doctor", was truly a new attempt in the action-comedy genre for the Tamil audience. Yes, it had those avoidable spoofs that were planted to please the hardcore masses, which disturbed the seriousness of the storyline, but otherwise, it made for a good watchable flick. With Beast, he goes completely massy with superstar Vijay, only to spoil the basic, simple rules of filmmaking. On the other hand, Vijay is also coming from an average flick, "Master", but it was saved by the director Lokesh Kanagaraj. Beast gives him a full-scale, massy avatar but not style and logic. If you remember watching Bruce Willis starrer "Die Hard" (1988), or the recent Hindi adaptation of it, "Sanak" (2021), then I don't think the story of Beast has anything new for you, except the action and hardcore patriotism. Just imagine those two films with regional comedy flavours, and the closest possible outcome is Beast.
The film is about a talented and patriotic RAW agent, Veer Raghavan, who quits his job after one sad and unwanted incident. Even after quitting RAW, the trauma stays with him as he tries to cure it with the help of a psychiatrist. With the help of his girlfriend, Preeti (Pooja Hegde), he gets a job in a company and visits a shopping mall, which eventually gets hijacked by terrorists. Veer decides to save the hostages for the sake of mental peace, which has got something to do with that old trauma. What challenges he has to face during the battle and how he handles terrorists and politicians to complete the mission is all that forms the rest of the narrative.
The screenplay here is very problematic. You have no clue about the number of terrorists in there, as Veer finishes them off easily and yet has many more left. Veer's strategies are sometimes successful, while others fail, but he has counter-strategies for every terrorist move. There are a lot of surprises in store, and some are really interesting, but I just can't spoil them here. What brings Beast down is the poor writing and illogical screenplay. The film is hampered by unnecessary comedy because it ruins the importance of a damn serious event like the hijack. You can't have any explanation for hostages having fun and cracking jokes during the hijack. The romance and jealousy parts were too cheesy to accept. Come on, you are the hostages under the attack of dangerous terrorists, so please show some little amount of fear.
Veer Raghavan is a tailor-made role for Thalapathy.
Saaho (2019)
Action movie South Indian action movie touched
Saaho is one of the most anticipated movies ever. It's the movie from Prabhas who rocked his legendary character Bahubali. I knew I shouldn't expect another Bahubali and I didn't. Even then Saaho let me down. It's full of cliche and cheesy as well as lazy writing. The movie lacks a strong script and the direction is really poor. They tried to glorify Prabhas way too much. The result was utter failure. They played this heroic background music when Prabhas went and bought a cup of coffee. Seriously? 😑. The songs are just stuffed into the movie just for the sake of it. And Shraddha Kapoor, I don't know why she signed up for this movie. Her character is potrayed as bright and bold at the beginning. But the writer made her character make all these stupid mistakes so that Prabhas can save her. And bam! She's in love with Prabhas for no reason. And that action sequence with both Prabhas and Shraddha.. That's one of the worst seen ever. What kind of background music was that..? God!! Tollywood needs to understand that women are not just there for some item dance and romance with hero. They shot even the normal scenes with cheesy background made by VFX. I don't know what stopped them from shooting all those scenes at natural background. The whole movie looks like a cartoon. There is so many twists but most of them were predictable except for the one at the interval. Fans need to accept the fact that this is a bad movie and treat it so. Otherwise people will keep making such movies. The viewers deserve better.
Zero (2018)
This movie is courageous and shows pain, sadness, frustration and emotions etc
First half is literally what majority of Indian people want in a movie.
Second half is very touchy, emotional, deep, little dragged, little underdeveloped which is again majority of Indian people do Not want in a movie.
Mohammed Ayub, R. Madhavan etc characters are underdeveloped. The space scenes could be a little more explored. Around 20 mins of second half could be well edited.
The biggest strength of the movie is SRK. He is on 🔥 with his performance. His anger, sarcasm, pain, frustration, love, sadness, guilt are very well captured.
Anushka is decent and so is Katrina. Direction is good but could have been better.
This is prime example of a movie which Indian public do Not want to see. They worship logicless action and comedy only. It breaks my heart to say that this might not work in India.
Red Notice (2021)
Love romance and fiction film
It's been a few days since I sat down and watched Red Notice, yet despite only mere hours passing in time I find myself struggling to recall anything of note in a film that fails to create a spark of imagination or excitement.
Costing $200 million to make and starring some of the entertainment industries most well-liked stars, Notice is a flashy Netflix exclusive that recently became the streaming services biggest day one hit but despite its high quality coat of paint, Rawson Marshall Thurber's lifeless and charmless action/comedy romp is an instantly forgettable and an incessantly bland blockbuster that is merely coasting along at all times.
Spanning a global collection of locales, that often are infused with a seriously distracting amount of poorly done green screen due to the film having to shoot through the Covid-19 pandemic, Notice should be a fun and frantic jaunt across the globe as we follow Dwayne Johnson's Interpol agent John Hartley (proving once more he loves a dress up more than anyone), Ryan Reynolds (wouldn't have guessed it) smart mouthed thief Nolan Booth and Wonder Woman herself Gal Gadot as the mysterious Bishop as the trio hunt down some priceless egg artefacts and try outsmart each other along the way.
Utilising a well-trodden path that was experienced by cinema fans with the likes of the Indiana Jones and early The Mummy franchises, Notice sadly lacks any of the smarts or style those type of entertaining romps possessed as Thurber struggles to bring much to the table when it comes to the action stakes, with many set pieces looking like a glorified video game rather than a top notch cinematic production, while his cast can't salvage the film from the boredom it will induce with fairly pedestrian turns that do nothing to enhance their reputations as Hollywood heavyweights.
Recently announcing his break from Hollywood for the foreseeable future after a number of years plying away busily in a number of productions, Notice marks a new low for the career trajectory of Ryan Reynolds in particular who has become a walking and talking caricature of his real life persona mixed with Deadpool's initially charming boundary pushing and wisecracks.
Trying little too do anything he hasn't done in his last handful of big films, Reynolds seems content to sleepwalk through his roles of recent times and his lethargy in bringing the potentially entertaining Booth to life here is a key example of just how tiresome and unenthusiastic this heist/adventure is, with Reynolds lame turn but one component of a film that does nothing too distinguish itself from the pack and seems content with merely existing rather than finding a reason to make us care or wish for more of where this came from.
Final Say -
A sadly typical Netflix waste of money, Red Notice should be a mindlessly entertaining and exciting ride but it's nothing more than a tiresome and trite example of modern day blockbuster film-making, the type of film-making that may get nice numbers to report on in regards to streaming performances but does nothing else worth remembering.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
After Avengers Infinity War, we waited for the Avengers Endgame
After Avengers Infinity War, we waited for the Avengers Endgame. We wondered how the story would go on, how our heroes would turn back, what would be the end of Thanos. Many theories related to this have been put forward. Avengers Endgame was undoubtedly the most anticipated film of recent years. Normally, the higher the expectation, the higher the probability of disappointment. But this is not the case for Endgame. Whatever you're expecting, you find much more in the film. This means that the biggest concern about the film has disappeared.
On the other hand, another comparison comes up. Is Endgame more successful than Infinity War? We can comfortably say it Avengers Infinity War is just the beginning of the story. Endgame was the finale of the story. So we shouldn't think of these two films as two separate stories. There is only one story divided into two parts.
Avengers Endgame is, above all, a great homage to the ten-year history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The story highlights the original Avengers team. Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye are at the center of events. No character comes in front of them. Of course there are many characters that play an important role in the story outside the original Avengers team. Everyone's concern was that Captain Marvel, who was included in the Marvel world, overshadowed other heroes. We can say that this certainly did not happen. What is important in this struggle is not how strong you are, but how good you are. This comes to the fore in all areas. It gives good message about being a hero and a family.
Of course, Avengers Endgame has some critical aspects. For example, is the three-hour period necessary in terms of the story? It can be discussed. The head of the story moves much slower than the rest. It also drags the heroes into an emotional predicament. Then the tempo is rising and the heavy scenes we are watching are getting more meaningful. The last 45 minutes of the movie is fully action packed. But the last 45 minutes goes so fast that you don't even realize it. Action and battle scenes are really successful. There is not even a slight distress about visual effects. There are also slight logic errors in the film, but in general the story is so successful that these details become meaningless and insignificant after a certain point.
Lastly, Avengers Endgame doesn't have a movie end scene. Because after the film's final, there is no need for another scene. The Marvel legend Stan Lee appears with a small stage. But this is the last surprise scene in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Moreover, there is no clue about Marvel's future. This makes us wonder more about.
War (2019)
Action dramatic, action and blockbuster movie.
War is an Indian action-thriller about a soldier who has to eliminate his former mentor who has gone rogue and starts assassinating influential targets around the world for mysterious reasons.
The movie convinces on numerous levels. The story comes around with numerous surprising twists and turns that will keep the spectators on the edge of their seats until the very end. Most of the characters have interesting background stories, convictions and motives which make the two lead characters progressively more profound as the movie unfolds in particular. The action scenes are spectacular and vary from explosive car chases to combats in an old church that has fallen into disrepair. The special effects have been designed with care as the camera work and light techniques are very solid except from one unnecessarily nauseating scene in a conference room. The beautiful locations and settings are very colourful and vary from India over Italy to the Arctic Circle.
On the negative side, the first half of the movie has a confusing chronological order and constantly switches from past to present and back again when a smoother chronological structure would have been much easier to understand. The movie includes two completely unnecessary dance choreographies that harm the movie's flow, contradict the tense atmosphere and look mildly amusingly amateurish. Some plot elements are a little bit over-the-top and it feels as if the scriptwriters had tried to include ideas for three movies into one single film which make the movie slightly overloaded. Some acting performances are rather wooden such as Vaani Kapoor's who was probably chosen for her role because of her elegant physical appearance but is lacking elementary acting skills.
Still, War is a very entertaining action-thriller of epic proportions that improves steadily until a gripping finale. Anyone who likes action films, spy flicks or thrillers should give this dynamic movie a try. Fans of the Bourne trilogy, the Fast and the Furious franchise and the films might discover a wonderful hidden gem here.
Student of the Year 2 (2019)
Love romance, chance and competitive with mates.
: You already know the story. Costumes, locations - 10/10 Script - 10/10 Acting - 8/10
The movie tries to be Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar really hard but fails miserably. The movie has no heart and fails to hold your attention unlike Jo Jeeta. Tiger, yet again has the same one tone dialogue delivery and expressions and the same goes for Tara and Ananya.
The film has flashy songs, costumes and acrobatics galore. The director wants you, the audience to cheer for Tiger, whose body is broken in half in a Kabaddi match(?) but Tiger's lack of acting range makes even that impossible. You could probably pop into the theatre post the interval and still get the story or the lack thereof! So, wait for it to come out on platforms like Netflix or Prime. Save your money!
October (2018)
Love and romance film.
You need to have patience to feel October. The director has not centered the movie around love but you are in love when the story hits you for real. From no melodious songs to no 'all good in the end' ending the movie stands apart from the league of Bollywood romantic movies. Bollywood has a neck for over fantasizing a simple story with some 'not-needed' overacting or 'un-meaningfull' dialogues which have no connection with real world to lay emphasis on the actors and present them as an example to the world but Shoojit Sircar is brave enough to bring you the reality the way it is- SIMPLE BUT STRONG. The movie as the name suggests depicts the season October which brings down the heat to cool thus changing our lives in many ways which we hardly notice. The movie depicts the real world where people are strongly connected but hardly notice others but what if there is a change. October displays an emotional tale when a man completely turns his life around a girl who hardly even existed in his life but what he learns from the experience is sure to leave a big impact on both your heart & brain. And to compliment your efforts to connect with the story there are some amazing performances from Varun Dhawan,Gitanjali Rao & Banita Sandhu. There are no negatives that might push you away from the movie, the more you watch the more you connect. Some movies are a mirror to our real world and October is definitely top on that list. The only thing which dis-satisfies you is the short duration of 2 hours because a kid inside you would love to watch more of it...
