American Made (2017)
Love A Good Conspiracy
Gotta confess when Iran-Contra was news, I was not paying too close attention. From a distance the Reagan cover-up of illegal military operations in Central America was just more of the same. Politics and corruption like peanut butter and jam . . . "you can't have one, you can't have one, without the other" (to the tune of Love & Marriage).
So for me this was a nifty find in the IMDb listings.
Like many Cruise action films, this one should hold your attention pretty well.
Worked for me.
Good Girls (2018)
Sam The Sham !!!!!
"Wooly Bully" was their bigger hit but, selecting "Little Red Riding Hood" was truly inspired. Beyond that, not too much about Good Girls sound track pushed my buttons. I thought too much of the score was flat-out annoying. "The Glory Of Love" . . . REALLY ???
Tunes more like in Gilligan/Tarantino/Lynch's work would be way more my speed.
With that off my chest . . . Good Girls is a clever and entertaining series. I dig it.
Deluxe cast. Especially great to see Matthew Lillard again, after Twin Peaks. Among all the great new folks in Season Three. Matthew nailed it too.
Eager for Good Girls return but please, less AM Radio.
White Tide: The Legend of Culebra (2018)
A Baffling Good Urban Legend . . . Or Not???
This is very cool.
A double-edged whammy:
Is this a true story? Did this actually happen? Or is this a clever mockumentary about some wild people and a bad-dream event(s)?
Seems, according to The Gainesville Sun's webpage there is a Rodney Hyden, who had some very bad luck around the campfire.
If there is (or was) 70lbs of coke buried in Culebra . . . only those happy turtles know for sure.
Green Book (2018)
So Much To Love About This Film
So excellent on so many levels.
Only finished watching minutes ago and, rather than attempt to collect and verbalize all the emotions and life lessons the picture contains.
Lemme just say: If You Watch This Movie, I Promise It Will Make You Happy.
Oprah Winfrey Presents: After Neverland (2019)
But Oprah, You Loved Michael !?!
There is a video out there of Oprah's biggest ever show from Neverland, where I thought she was going to seduce Michael.
So #1, how did she loose her love since then.
So #2, is it me, or is a studio audience of all abused men, a little sensational.
So #3, should I really believe anyone who is so vain as to put her photograph on a magazine every issue?
I once heard of a place somewhere on the west coast where celebrities, politicians, and other pillars of society go for their pedophile delights and other garden variety hedonists activities. I could be wrong but, hasn't this national treasure been a secret get-away since the 50's? See if Oprah's morals were pure, why would she stay so silent about this place called the Bohemian Grove?
Leaving Neverland (2019)
"It's Weekend Update With Norm MacDonald"
While Michael was the King, I was anywhere but there, I was among his biggest anti-fans. Everything I knew about him was learned from Norm on SNL. I believed all these years, he was simply a homosexual pedophile. Leaving Neverland was semi-compelling, and I am surprised I did make it to the 3.5 hour mark. Two hours would have been ample. What the film did for me, was prompt further viewing of the abundant "pro-Michael" videos that are out there. One thing that this research has done, confirms my view of Oprah! Loved seeing her '93 live worldwide interview with Michael. Love that woman' s moral compass!
Bird Box (2018)
What Was All The Noise About?
I dig watching Sandra Bullock, that's the bright spot of this movie.
If it weren't for all the buzz (Netflix generated, likely) I doubt I would have checked out Bird Box.
Ya got me guys. Fizzzz !!!
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
Well Done
After Queen's first two brilliant lps, I lost most of my interest in the band. Freddie was an amazing vocalist, no argument.
This is a very very good movie. And, intelligent. True to the era. Very well crafted and it should keep you involved until the credits run.
Probably the only thing missing is my own passion for the band but, I would watch it again. To me, a great movie sticks with me for days . . . we'll see.Saw it today.
El recluso (2018)
This Rocks !!!
What a classic. However, my classics are: Repo Man, Big Meat Eater, Trailer Park Boys . . . the cheesier the better.
The characters are all brilliant. The lip synching straight outta a 60's Godzilla flick.
The dialogue is perfect. Plot tight tight tight.
So much to love. Perfect.
