Family Matters: To Be or Not to Be: Part 1 (1994)
Where the show got super silly
Family Matters for what the show did for the American sitcom was nothing short of amazing. The TGIF lineup was a part of our childhoods. A great sitcom but a series will always jump the shark. I feel like this is where the show fell off the rails. The transformation chamber became the focal point more and more instead of the family dynamic. Say this episode for instance. Reginald VelJohnson as the nerdy character? Just way over the top!! Then in latter episodes, Urkel becomes Bruce Lee, Albert Einstein and a slew of other wacky characters. I just don't know. As entertaining as these silly storylines were as a kid, you learn as an adult that they're goofy and preposterous!
What Dreams May Come (1998)
A beautiful masterpiece
Captivating. Powerful. Beautiful. Emotional. These words only begin to describe this incredible movie! I watch this film a few times a year. It is the definitive Robin Williams picture. The visuals, the storyline, the score...it all comes together in such a magical way. Especially for a movie in 1998. The film details how a husband will go to the depths of heaven and hell to reunite with his wife (played by Annabella Sciorra) after tragedy befalls the entire family. As he does, he's accompanied but "Doc" played tremendously by Cuba Gooding, Jr.
Do yourself a favor if you're reading this, See. This. Movie!
Trapped in Paradise (1994)
Incredibly underrated Christmas flick...
I love this movie and watch it like twice a year! I've read reviews and behind the scenes info, and according to the cast and the director it was hellacious to make. I feel like Nic Cage, Dana Carvey and *sigh* even Jon Lovitz are wonderful in this film! Sure it's filled with cheesy schtick but it does have some great scenes and quotable lines! The story is a cute one. Give it a chance!
The Pee-Wee Herman Show on Broadway (2011)
Nostalgic...yet a bit sad.
Ok first off, I grew up LOVING Pee-Wee's Playhouse, the first 2 movies (Big Adventure and Big-Top), NOT the atrocious Holiday movie! All the characters back again with majority of the original voices! Very cool!! However, to see these 50+year olds prance around the stage just didn't do it for me totally! Go into this (usually available on HBO) with a HUGE open mind, especially if you were a fan as a kid!!
