Call of the Wolf (2017)

This is THE WORST film I've ever watch

I'm not kidding nor am I exaggerating. I can say that this is the worst movie I have seen. I saw it with my family and they are not very critical, and they agree with me. I thought that it had to be a joke. The acting is incredibly fake, the main actor has a terrible voice and bad use of expressions. The writing was really boring, the pacing slow and in general very unrealistic. The only thing I like is the cinematography, some beautiful shots, nice stage, but that's all.

Please don't watch it.! At least you want to see it for yourself and have a good laugh.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)

Funny, family friendly and really entertaining

This is a classic. The best film in my opinion using both live action actors and 2D cartoons. It is very appealing and has a lot of good jokes. You will have a good time watching it, better with kids.

Yellow Submarine (1968)

Not a fan

This one is an experimental film, and I don't really like the style or aesthetic. I think only a true Beatles fan will enjoy this, or people who are looking for a different kind of movie. I don't listen to the Beatles, I don't like this animation style and I felt the story really boring and trying too hard. I don't recommend it at least you are a big fan of The Beatles.

Spirited Away (2001)

An exciting journey

First anime experience, and I really liked it. The directing was done perfectly, as well as the animation, beautiful colors and backgrounds, and an interesting story. The first 15 minutes are my favorite, the built is really great. Also the music is awesome, one of my favorite soundtracks of all time. On the other side, I don't really like some secondary characters design, and at times I felt the story a little slow. But I definetly recommend it to anyone who wants to watch something different to the Disney classics. This movie teaches a lot more than them and it's appropiate to people all ages.

Akira (1988)

A little overrated in my opinion

I wanted to like this movie so bad. I heard a lot of great comments by friends about this movie, they built to much hype that I expected way more. It went to a whole different direction from what I thought. The poster looks really cool and I thought it would be about motorcycles, but then I watched and was very disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the animation is really good, the colors and the idea, but the movie had much more potential. The characters are not very appealing and their expressions are awkward at times. Maybe I would like it more if I had watched it as a kid.

Toy Story (1995)

Old but gold

Simply a masterpiece. When the Pixar Studio and John Lasseter decided to do the first animated film, they would never do a film just as an "experiment", nor make it fast and neglect the story and the technical things. They worked for years to deliver to the world a new way to make films and a wonderful story that is appealing for people all ages. The dialogues are great and funny, every single character has a defined personality, it´s perfect technically speaking and lives to date, helping as a standard for new animated movies.

West and Soda (1965)

The movie its good for its gender. It works really well, both the comedy and the aesthetic. The style is really cool, the pointillism is not very common. But, it had bad moments, or in general, a really hard to follow pacing. Also, the translation isn´t very good, so it's better to watch it in Italian. I only recommend it if you want to see something with a different taste, different animation aesthetic and good sarcasm and humor.

Watership Down (1978)

Slow, predictable and not that sad to me

I watched this movie only because it was at the top of all lists of the saddest movie ever made, I was curious. But after watching it, I didn't enjoy it as much as critics said. The pacing was really slow, I wanted to skip some parts of the movie because they were really boring. I felt like the director tried so hard to make a sad movie that he forgot to make a complete film in every aspect. This really different from a Disney movie style, very bloody and slightly different aesthetic. I only recommend it if you really really want to see a sad movie.

When the Wind Blows (1986)

A very emotional film

The movie may seem kind of boring, having an old couple as main characters and the whole movie in just one scenario, a home. It is 90% dialogue and 10% action. So, why is this movie worth to watch? Well, I found it really interesting. You fell in love with the elders, and despite its Spanish accent, at the end you kind of like it. The marriage is really cute, and you really get to know these characters. The ending is really sad, I did not think it would actually end like that. In general, the movie is really distinct from what we see normally, but it is a must-see movie. Be open to it.

Azur & Asmar: The Princes' Quest (2006)

A pleasant surprise!

I saw this movie for homework and I must say I didn't want to watch it. It was really not very appealing to me, nor the art or the story. But then I saw it and I have to say I really enjoy it. Not a big fan of the aesthetic but, the story was interesting, we don´t usually watch this kind of movies, with a different religion and cultural background, but at the end it was entertaining, I liked the characters and the story worked. This is not the film of the century, not even the film of the year, but you will have a good time, and do watch it with kids.

Great job for the first animated film! A huge success, it´s a classic. The movie lives to date, children can watch it nowadays and don´t even notice how old it is. It is technically a masterpiece considering when it was done; the music and soundtrack are just on point, the colors are accurate and the animation really good. What it lacks is a sense in the plot, as most of the classics of Disney. Also for me, Snow White isn't a very relatable character. But I do recommend it because is a film everyone should watch at least once, the dwarfs are so much fun!

Bird Box (2018)

This was a regular movie

Not great, not bad, just regular. It does entertain, especially at the start. The movie had so much potential but it just started to fall down as the minutes went by. Lots of questions. The idea of the antagonist was not really well defined, they could do some crazy monsters or even zombies would be better I suppose. That ending is what will make people just forget about the movie days after watching it, nothing very intelligent. But if you want to watch it go ahead, it is enjoyable at times.

The Parent Trap (1998)

Watched this at least 20 times

No joke, there is no movie I've seen more times than this one. Why? Because I grew up watching this on TV and the more I saw it, the better it was. The movie is fun, it can really entertaining almost anyone of any age. Now that I see it as an adult I found that it has really no sense, how can a parent don't recognize their daughter? But well, it is just a remake of the original...we go and judge the other one about the plot.

This is the only movie I've seen that practice Double Dutch, it's nice to see a different sport. I remember me watching this as a kid and jumping all day long with my siblings. It is a very entertaining movie for kids, and I'm sure young adults can resist it. The songs are good and the pacing works, it's not boring. Good message, the story is predictable, yes, but still fun to watch with kids.

I did not have a good time with this one. Watched it with my family and we all thought at the middle of the movie everything had to be a joke, but sadly it wasn't. I am surprised at how great critiques this movie has had. I watched it only because I saw it in a Top.40 movie list on the internet, aside from that, I never heard about this movie in my life. Not everything was that bad, I will say, it had short good moments but in general, the movie intended to innovate a way of telling a story, but it was just an experiment, nothing more. I don't quite recommend it, only if you want to experience it by yourself.

I don't know how I had not watched this film until just a week ago, but I'm glad because this is not a movie to watch with distractions or when you are too young because you will not enjoy it as much as an adult does. I saw this movie and immediately become an addict, watched it at least 3 more times the same week. There is so much to talk about it! I found it hard to think someone doesn't enjoying this one. The cast, the great dialogue, big plot twists, all the emotions, everything makes it just great. This is no a film as many of these times that need a 4K quality to be appealing, you will not waste your time, every minute of the almost 3 hours is worth. You will want even more. If you haven't watch it, what are you waiting for? ("This is an offer you can't refuse")

The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

Best prison movie of all time!

It is a movie that catches your attention from start to end. Besides the great storytelling, what I most love about this one is the great cast with strong performances and the fact that the main character is indeed intelligent. He is very smart along the movie, so clever most of us didn´t see his plan coming. Every character in the film has a very defined personality and adds to the plot. The ending is great.

Smallfoot (2018)

Smallfoot, but not a small movie

This was an entertaining experience! I´m a digital animation student and I watched this one because I was told it had very good animation, and it does. Also, the pictures in most of the film are just beautiful, the snow, the mountains, and the colorful sky. But as it has very good things, it lacks in other things like the character design. The movie was very appealing but the characters had no real personalities, just a lot of stereotypes and all along simple yetis or humans. I really prefer the Yeti on Monsters Inc. The story does have a good message, but it was very easy to predict. Also, I felt the movie to be a little longer than it really was, maybe because at some point it appeared to have finished, but then it continued. You will definitely have a good time with this movie, but you will forget about it the next day.

The Iron Giant (1999)

Had giant expectations, but still pretty good

From the great director Brad Bird, The Iron Giant it's a good family-friendly movie. It does have some appealing, an emotional plot and a good ending, but, for me, it stays at 8/10 because I feel I have seen this type of movie before. A kid that founds "someone" that is very unusual or big, no ones believes him. Then people discover that he does exist and are afraid can be harmful, so they decide to eliminate him. Then at the end, that creature confirms he is good and it's a happy ending. So it was very predictable for me, but it doesn't mean it was bad. Another thing is that it let me with some questions like, where does the robot come from? How does he understand so well English? But I think that the movie let that to the audience to think. I recommend this movie to a family with kids, you will enjoy it for sure!
