The Sandman (2022)
Missed chance
This series is a missed chance of producing a first class adaption rather than concentrating on the story line which could have been so much better written and acted they have put all their effort into making a woke politically correct series.
Heroes and Villains: Richard the Lionheart (2008)
A good factual account by the BBC
I was very happy with the BBC's adaption of Richard the Lionheart most people know the name but not what he did and to say this happened nearly 1000years ago shows the power of his name. The style of the program is a Doc/Drama which works very well its hasn't got Hollywood big budget effects but then again this was more a historical documentary drama . The last battle scene was very enjoyable if it wasn't true i would not believe it could have happened and the actor who played King Richard (Steven Waddington ) was excellent he was very convincing if you like history i would recommend you watch this program as it a very interesting tale.
Heroes and Villains: Attila the Hun (2008)
A good factual account by the BBC
I was very happy with the BBC's adaption of Attila the Hun they researched him and consulted the historians before making it to make sure it was as accurate account the special affects where not up to a large Hollywood movie but then again this was more a historical documentary drama. If you like history and would like to know more about Attila i would recommend you watch this doc/drama as i knew very little before the program but my knowledge after was quite different as most people know the name but not the real man and his achievements which to say happened 1500 years ago shows the power of his name after all this time.
Jeremy Clarkson: Greatest Raid of All Time (2007)
The St. Nazaire Raid
The St. Nazaire Raid (also called Operation Chariot) was a successful British seaborne attack on the heavily defended docks of St. Nazaire in occupied France on the night of March 28, 1942 during World War II. The operation was undertaken by Royal Navy and Army Commando units under the auspices of Louis Mountbatten's Combined Operations.
The obsolete destroyer HMS Campbeltown commanded by Stephen Halden Beattie and accompanied by 18 shallow draft boats, rammed the St. Nazaire lock gates and was blown up, ending use of the dock. Commandos landed on the docks and destroyed other dock structures before attempting to fight their way out. Despite teaming up with a regular soldier unit in the town, all but 27 of the commandos were either killed or captured. 22 Escaped back to Britain in the motor torpedo boats and 5 to the Spanish border.
Five Victoria crosses were awarded to men involved in the raid, which has been called The Greatest Raid of All.
Torchwood (2006)
Sci-fi Dective Series
I was pleasantly surprised with the first episode of torchwood when it premiered on BBC3 but i was expecting a small budget production but the acting and effects where first rate .
The main actor John Barrowman (Captain Jack) played the part fantastic with his good lucks and great American accent .
The main plot of the series is for a renegade bunch of investigators charged by the British government to find alien technology that has fallen to Earth. There are going to be 13 episodes for this series if they are all as good as the first then I'm sure this series will do well. The only down side is there are lots of Dr Who Fans who may be to young to watch this spin off series as there are some strong words in parts and its down to the parents if you let them watch it (i thought i would just put this warning in as i have young children) but i would say a thumbs up well done BBC .
Hannibal (2006)
BBC Drama/Documentary
I was very impressed with the quality and history telling in this BBC adaption. The BBC seem to have a talent for picking famous stories and fetching them to life in a unique drama and documentary blend. I had little knowledge of Hannibal before watching it (most people just know about the elephants) but after watching it i new the entire history of Hannibal. The acting was excellent with actors such as Alexander Siddig (kingdom of heaven) and a lot more fine actors . I would say this is a must for any person who enjoys history and enjoys a good factual story of a man who turned the tables on the greatest nation in the world (Romans) .
Life on Mars (2006)
sci-fi comedy , time travel back to 1973
A first class 8 part series . Anyone who lived through the 1970s in the UK will find the whole series very gripping and will fetch back a flood of memory's it's been a long time since since any drama has grabbed me like Life on Mars. I was 4 in 1973. I found the acting and the story line very strong and enjoying the way Sam's slowly beginning to adapt to life in 1973. He's taking on board some of the things that at first seemed out of the code of conduct to him but at the same time managing to keep his moral ideology intact . Me and wife had 4 good nights in watching the series and hope the BBC turns out more great work likes this .
