Scenes from a Marriage (2021)
Watching Two George Costanzas in a Drama
These two characters are acting just like George Costanza in 'Seinfeld'. Very immature, unstable, selfish, and self-centered people engaging in infidelity and completely self-created drama is fun to watch, but also laughable. When I was watching the show I kept saying, "Oh my God!!! She's acting just like George from 'Seinfeld".
On a positive note, the acting by the two main characters was superb. Jessica Chastain is still beautiful and gave a fantastic performance.
The Nest (2020)
Actors Good - Script Bad
The twist was that there wasn't a twist. I was expecting that the house may be haunted, turning the movie into a horror-type film. I was expecting something when the wife was digging up the dead horse at the end. I thought the wife may try to some way kill Jude Law. I thought Jude Law would turn everything around with the big deal ... that never happened.
The wife simply and finally realizes at the end that Jude Law is just a liar and complete phony putting on a fake show of wealth for all. That was the twist that wasn't. No big climax occurred. That is very much how real life is.
The movie started out as a 10 for 10, but continued to decline until the denouement. I also disliked how physically dark the movie was in many scenes. I think the director wanted the darkness to be artistic, but I found all that darkness annoying.
The Problem with Apu (2017)
What a Loser
I never heard of the guy who starred in this documentary. The.main reason.this guy created the documentary in the first place is that nobody ever heard of the idiot. He only created the show because he does not have a career and he is trying desperately to get a career. His standup routine shown in the documentary is terrible and completely amateurish.
Picking on Hank Azaria will NOT get this unknown loser a career. The loser should get a bookkeeping.certificate from a junior college and get a real job. This untalented idiot is an immature kid who will NEVER have a career in showbiz.
Family Business (1989)
The Biggest Problem is
That the characters in this movie are very unlikeable. Matthew Broderick played an immature brat. Dustin Hoffman slapped a woman and also slapped Broderick. Sean Connery was a lifelong small-time criminal. The Broderick and Hoffman characters did not get along. The Hoffman and Connery characters did not get along. The Broderick and Connery characters got along, but Connery was a horrible influence on Broderick.
The story was also not very good. I don't know what would have saved this movie.
The Facts of Life: I'm Dancing as Fast as I Can (1983)
ONE OF THE BETTER EPISODES
I greatly enjoyed this episode. It was educational in showing what people without money must do in order to achieve their goals. It was interesting to see Blair acting in such a judgmental manner, but it was much more fascinating to see Jo acting in an even more judgmental manner than Blair. Jo's judgmental attitude was surprising because I thought that Jo would be sympathetic to a person without money, as Jo sometimes talks about coming from a poor Bronx family.
The Wife (2017)
Should have started Al Pacino
I give the film 8 out of 10 stars. I think the film would have been far more successful if Al Pacino played the male lead and did an over-the-top, scenery chewing scene at the end, publicly giving his wife full credit and admitting he was a complete fraud. Where is Pacino when you really need him?
Also, the film could have taken an M. Night twist by having the husband release a posthumous video stating he was a fraud and how much he loves his wife, while the wife is sitting in her living room flipping from news channel to news channel as she watches her husband's video with tears running down her face.
The husband coming clean publicly would have been so uplifting and positive. The movie was unsatisfying because even the wife was not without blame. The wife was sleeping with her future husband while her husband was still married to the first wife. The wife willingly accepted the charade for fifty years and finally blew up when her hubby won the Nobel. The wife accepted all the philandering for years and now has a problem with it. The wife keeping the secret after her husband's death was very unsatisfying; the wife should have allowed Christian Slater to write the truth.
Becker (1998)
A Terrible Show
I watched this show a few times and it is just TERRIBLE !!! Becker is highly unlikeable and the show just is not funny. What else is there to write?
