Anne.

It was quite boring and a poor attempt and period humor. I liked Emma's approach so much more than this Fleabag-esque wannabe. I also didn't think the main love interests suited each other at all. There was no chemistry there whatsoever.

Warning: Spoilers
Generally speaking I'm not a huge marvel fan, not super into the cinematic universe or anything. This series was very compelling tho. I didn't knew much about the characters but I finished it knowing them and their motivations well. It was funny, it was emotional and it was well written. Maybe the last episode was a bit too much for me, but I'm still giving it an 8 because it was so original and refreshing from Marvel.

Animated over live-action
3 March 2022
What an amazing show! I really makes me think that animated series are so much better for these type of productions. Imagine animated Percy Jackson or other adventure/fantasy/sci-fi books or games. The fight scenes and the magic just looks so good in that format. It would end the bad CGI we have to see in most live-action series adaptations. I hope Arcane will start a new wave of animated ones instead.

Diamonds are girl's best friend

Warning: Spoilers
What a polarizing movie.

I loved the little bits and pieces and scenes that put together a charming, although messy story. Paul was truly a darling for most of the movie. I loved the little comedic details and jokes.

On the other side, there's an awful Asian caricature not even played by an Asian actor. There's a manic pixie girl talking nonsense and pacing around the room without any reason. Especially at the beginning, the dialogues were so random and pretentious at the same time. And Holly was insufferable for most of the movie. However, I do agree with her when it comes to men. Her husband married her at 14. No wonder she ran away. And now Paul, just because he's in love with her, he thinks she belongs to him? Awful message. I wish their relationship stayed platonic (I've read somewhere that his character in the book was supposed to be gay). That way, reunion with the cat and a hug would be such a sweet ending. But no, he had to add his toxic sexist nonsense into the mix.

Overall, a movie worth seeing. It was my third try to finish it tho.

A Arietty's Life

One of the most beautiful Ghibli animations. I think it's my favorite so far when it comes to visuals. It's just stunning and the sound and music makes it even better. I love how you could really get the feeling of being tiny compared to our own species.

The story is simple and sweet, like other Ghibli movies dedicated to younger viewers. It doesn't exactly give a satisfying ending but to people complaining - to me, a new Ghibli fan, the story is just as "not-finished" or "oversimplified" as My Neighbor Totoro, a movie that is valued greatly in the cinematic world. Both are more about moments and connections between people and creatures than about an adventure. And I'm fine with that!

Mediocre movie at best. It was so simplistic and full of clichés I couldn't stop rolling my eyes. Lacked the nuance. Maybe it's just targeted towards younger audience, I'm not sure, but I was obliged to watch it for psychology class and I don't even think it's an accurate portrayal of schizophrenia. Maybe it's because I knew what it's supposed to be about and therefore the movie was badly predictable. The romance came out of nowhere and Alicia was just a painfully stereotypical female love interest with no real substance. All of the science stuff was comical in it's simplicity. The ending dragged for a very long time and it was very sweet which I like but it didn't feel earned.

Just went with it

The movie is... fine. It has a lot of charming, funny moments. I MOSTLY enjoyed myself watching it. It does have a lot of gross, stupid humor which I'm personally not a fan of. Especially coming from the character of Eddy. Couldn't stand that guy, everytime he was on screen, I just wanted it to end. The oversexualization of women is another thing that rubbed me the wrong way. The amount of objectifying jokes and remarks regarding every female character was just overwhelming. Also a lot of making fun of people's appearance but that's kind of given considering the year it was released. I also cringe at men going after women half his age. Good thing is, Aniston and Sandler had a lot of chemistry and there was enough cute, wholesome moments for me to not leave uncomfortable.

It's the perfect mixture of teenage cringe and charm. A childhood favorite and a guilty pleasure in adulthood. There's something so pure and enjoyable about this show with it's Aussie aquatic vibe and dumb but lovable characters. It's also quite funny and ironic enough that it doesn't have to be for children only.

Shadow Man

As a fan of Six of Crows and someone who enjoyed Shadow and Bone, I gotta say it's the best book adaption Netflix has ever made. Ben Barnes is absolutely phenomenal as the Darkling, the setting, music and cast is on point. Most characters really look like in the books and they also kept some iconic quotes.

The story itself is changed quite a bit but it flows pretty well considering the original Six of Crows story takes place years after the events of the Grisha Trilogy. I think they made it work.

I've enjoyed it way more than I was even expecting and overall they really did a good job on this one. Looking forward to season 2!

Real journey

Warning: Spoilers
I don't know what it is about the game but it makes me so emotional. When I realized I've travelled with actual people, I was so moved by the whole experience. Especially considering I've played it during the first wave of pandemic, being locked in my house and missing the connection. The music is magical, the art style is cute. The story is not complicated but it sends a message.

Such a lovely game. I love the story, the art, the music, puzzles vary from more to less difficult, locations are beautiful and the overall conclusion: my favorite indie game.

The series was so charming and magical to watch when I was a child. I remember being scared of the anime but I loved books so I watched this version, native to my country. It felt so whimsical and mysterious. Great job!

Anna with an A

Warning: Spoilers
Classic stereotypical movie about Russian spy/prostitute. Many clichés. Too many jumps and cuts forward and backwards. I still don't know what era was it supposed to be set in because nobody really cared to match fashion, hairstyles or even cars to one specific time period. A bit cringey at times. The scene with two kisses had me roll my eyes HARD. Non-realistic fight scenes. And not because the main character is a woman, it's the choreography that was surreal. Few good twists. Like most new spy movies it had potential that was wasted. For some reason Queen's Gambit had more suspense, sexapil and Russian flare to it than this movie.

The Tourist (I) (2010)

The Spy
26 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not sure what to rate this movie because I'm not sure what was it trying to do. Is it a thriller? A spy film? Then it lacks depth and is trying too hard to imitate classics. Is it a comedy, a parody even? Then the genre stated on the internet is wrong and viewers expect something different.

I love a beautiful film but somehow Jolie in gorgeous gowns and jewelry looked extremely out of place.

Depp is like a lost puppy during the movie and maybe that's the joke but I suspected the twist from the beginning and it still felt flat by too many foreshadowings (again, maybe that's the joke?).

Overall, a movie I couldn't really focus on, so if you want a good spy thriller, watch Bond, if you want a good parody, watch The Man from U. N. C. L. E. And if you watch badass Angelina Jolie, watch Tomb Rider or Mr&Mrs Smith.

The Haunting
9 December 2020
I just finished the last episode and I have to say I was disappointed. The beginning was strong but later the story really slowed down and begin to look like a parody of itself. Too much philosophical talking, over-explaining what we already see is happening. It stopped being creepy or scary at all in the middle and began to feel cliché and even a little corny at times. I wish they did more with the story because the potential was there.

Midsommar
24 September 2020
My problem with Midsommar is that from the very beginning I knew what was going to happen. It was very predictable. Same with Hereditary, so I guess I'm just not Aster's fan, his movies are not scary enough to be horror movies but it's also not deep enough to be a psychological dramas. Yes, they deal with important issues, such as grief, loss, betrayal. It's just that the way they do is so... shallow? I'm giving it 6/10 because the movie was executed well, great visually and also simply because of Florence Pugh.

I'm giving Shrek 10/10 because of Polish dubbing. It's exceptional, hilarious and makes the movie so much better and funnier, even to adults. Kudos to the translator and voice actors cause they made Shrek my favorite animated movie.

Fever night
8 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
It's 2020 and I finally watched Saturday Night Fever. And well... I'm disappointed to say at least. I felt genuinely uncomfortable during most scenes, mostly because of effortless and random misogyny and sexism. I get it, it's supposed to be showing the truth, how it was back then, no filter. But my biggest problem with this movie is that it doesn't address any of the messed up stuff that happened in it. More so, the main hero is condoning this type of behavior in a way. What's the point then? All the characters were extremely unlikable and I found it hard to root for any of them. Dialogues were pretty realistic, which I quite liked but they were very random at times. Another "realistic" portion of the movie was relationships. Nobody actually cared about other people. Even Bobby's death meant nothing but an inconvenience, a way for other character to change his life(?) Overall, I didn't really enjoy this movie, it felt archaic in a bad way, even as a piece from a specific era. Music was great tho.

cringe
23 February 2019
This movie is so cringey. Victoria Justice is an awful actor and she plays like she's still on Nickelodeon. Young people don't act this way! The movie tries so hard to be cool but it's just not working. Awful camera work, weak dialogues and overall... it's a bad movie.
