Actresses Who Aren't Big Screen Worthy

Hollywood has an affliction for casting actors who People Magazine puts on their front cover. If only they would ask the audience.

1. Reese Witherspoon

Producer | Wild

Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon was born on March 22, 1976 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Betty Witherspoon, a registered nurse & John Draper Witherspoon, a military surgeon. Reese spent the first 4 years of her life in Wiesbaden, Hesse, Germany, where her father served as a lieutenant colonel in the ...

Seriously, probably a really nice lady but...we're supposed to believe we're watching characters who aren't Reese Witherspoon. If she was a reoccurring ditsy blonde on a television sitcom, she found the character that really works for her. Not that she's ditsy in real life, (she's actually wised up and produces so major nod to that), just that she hit her niche with the Legally Blonde role. Getting an Oscar for a role that casts you to play your own culture and background...literally, showed there were slim to no pickens that Oscar year.

2. Gwyneth Paltrow

Actress | Shakespeare in Love

Gwyneth Kate Paltrow was born in Los Angeles, the daughter of noted producer and director Bruce Paltrow and Tony Award-winning actress Blythe Danner. Her father was from a Jewish family, while her mother is of mostly German descent. When Gwyneth was eleven, the family moved to Massachusetts, where ...

Typically top actresses had to work their way up the ladder, not have parents who own it. Unfortunately being on the big screen is business and all that comes across when Gwyneth is on the big screen is, "My parents are Hollywood Icons." One could easily say that's the prejudice against every Hollywood heir but Angelina easily dispels that. As does terrific in all she does, Drew Barrymore.

3. Jennifer Lopez

Producer | Hustlers

Jennifer Lynn Lopez was born on July 24, 1969 in The Bronx, New York City, New York to teacher Lupe López and computer specialist David López. The two Puerto Ricans were brought to the continental United States during their childhoods and eventually met while living in New York City. Their ...

It's great she decided to judge on American Idol because up until then she came across as just another arrogant diva which made her unappealing to watch. Now she seems truly kind and a really good person. However strictly on the business side of things, it's hard to understand why J.Lo continued to get cast for the big screen. On the other hand, everyone is fortunate the big screen seems to be shying away from her since we now get to see her on television in the amazing Shades of Blue and World of Dance.

4. Kristen Stewart

Actress | Snow White and the Huntsman

Though most famous for her role as Isabella "Bella" Swan in The Twilight (2008) Saga, Kristen Stewart has been a working actor since her early years in Los Angeles, California. Her parents, John Stewart and Jules Stewart, both work in film and television. The family includes three boys, Kristen's ...

Where do we start? There just aren't any answers other than when you start acting as a child, people just keep hiring you. This actress unfortunately has a very...very limited big screen appeal. She got the break of a lifetime with a mega hit series, (i.e. Keira Knightley in Pirates), and unfortunately that's all you need for Hollywood to think you're the reason the movie did so well, (as opposed to the story already having a cult following). Again, this is strictly business and the reasons for this actress being in major films...just aren't there to audiences. It's like...shopping for tan outfits; no wow factor; it's just because there's no other choices and you're already in the store.

5. Jennifer Aniston

Actress | Friends

Jennifer Aniston was born in Sherman Oaks, California, to actors John Aniston and Nancy Dow. Her father was Greek, and her mother was of English, Irish, Scottish, and Italian descent. Jennifer spent a year of her childhood living in Greece with her family. Her family then relocated to New York City...

Oh sweetie...and you probably are one but again, this is business. Just be happy you made this list because it means you're known. The downside is that you're not known for being a big screen draw though your sitcom skills are some of the best...truly. When your name is the lead in a major film, (sadly), it means that the script is going to be a mess and that watching the film will be like filling up on empty calories. Please go back to television and help bring that back to life because we'll all definitely tune in.

6. Nicole Kidman

Actress | Moulin Rouge!

Elegant Nicole Kidman, known as one of Hollywood's top Australian imports, was actually born in Honolulu, Hawaii, while her Australian parents were there on educational visas.

Kidman is the daughter of Janelle Ann (Glenny), a nursing instructor, and Antony David Kidman, a biochemist and clinical ...

Probably a fantastic person and it may be possible that she just has not found the right role that doesn't have her dressing up in make-up, (The Hours), to get her to really open up. Otherwise, not bad acting just...okay.

7. Anne Hathaway

Actress | Les Misérables

Anne Jacqueline Hathaway was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Kate McCauley Hathaway, an actress, and Gerald T. Hathaway, a lawyer, both originally from Philadelphia. She is of mostly Irish descent, along with English, German, and French. Her first major role came in the short-lived television series ...

Fun actress to watch if it's another Disney film...made for tweens. Not enough for adults however. It might be time to produce instead.

8. Katherine Heigl

Actress | One for the Money

Katherine Marie Heigl was born on November 24, 1978 in Washington, D.C., to Nancy Heigl (née Engelhardt), a personnel manager, and Paul Heigl, an accountant and executive. Her father is of German/Swiss-German and Irish descent, and her mother is of German ancestry. A short time after her birth, the...

Too see-through. It's hard to get into characters this actress plays because there's just a militant vibe of some type of negativity that lingers around her. Too bad because her portrayal of her former character on Grey's Anatomy will always be in the top 10 of the most favored.

9. Olivia Wilde

Actress | Tron: Legacy

Actress and activist Olivia Wilde is a modern day renaissance woman, starring in many acclaimed film productions, while simultaneously giving back to the community.

She was born on March 10, 1984 in New York City. Her parents are Leslie Cockburn (née Leslie Corkill Redlich) and Andrew Cockburn. Her ...

Easily confused with a multitude of up-and-coming actresses. She has beautiful eyes and seems like a very nice person though. Sadly, it's just so very hard to remember her.

10. Jessica Biel

Actress | The Illusionist

Jessica Biel, has become one of Hollywood's most sought-out actresses. She was born in Ely, Minnesota, to Kimberly (Conroe) and Jonathan Edward Biel, who is a business consultant and GM worker. Biel was raised in Boulder, Colorado. She is of Hungarian Jewish, Danish, English, and German descent.

As ...

Hmm...do you hear crickets? Yes...that's it in a nutshell.
