This radical change in direction can occur anywhere, though usually happens towards the end. The result is a surprise, an ironic instance or some unusual activity that defies or goes against a story line norm. Mysteries do not belong here, but may at times combine plot twist devices. Note that this does not make a good movie: While some are classics, others may be failures where even the change of plot or twist ending do not help the movie succeed.
