Even as one fairly well versed in cinema, documentaries have never been my favorite, and I sometimes struggle to understand the appeal. However, after seeing a couple of recent examples that were truly spectacular, I am coming to appreciate them more. I still think of them in a parallel category to dramatized/narrative cinema, even though both sides influence each other, hence my entirely separate list. (I also haven't seen nearly enough, so the list will still be pretty concise.)
