- DirectorDavid YatesStarsAlexander SkarsgårdRory J SaperChristian StevensTarzan, having acclimated to life in London, is called back to his former home in the jungle to investigate the activities at a mining encampment. When I first heard about this reboot, I wasn't too excited. But after seeing the gorgeous trailer and learning David Yates was at the helm, I couldn't help but be intrigued. If anyone other than Alexander Skarsgård was in the leading role, I seriously doubt I’d be interested. There aren't many actors who could pull off both Victorian garb and a loin cloth. — Michelle
Opens Friday, July 1, in wide release. - DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsMark RylanceRuby BarnhillPenelope WiltonAn orphan little girl befriends a benevolent giant who takes her to Giant Country, where they attempt to stop the man-eating giants that are invading the human world. My fourth grade teacher read this book aloud to our class. As she moved through the chapters, I fell in love with the story. It kicked off a voracious reading habit that has continued until today. I can't wait to see this classic (to me) tale brought to life. — Lance
Opens Friday, July 1, in wide release. - CreatorJoseph MallozziPaul MullieStarsMelissa O'NeilAnthony LemkeAlex Mallari Jr.In the dystopian 27th century, six people wake up on a deserted spaceship with no memory of who they are or what they're doing there. They reluctantly team up and set off to find answers with the help of a female android.I’m especially thrilled that “Dark Matter” is coming back for a second season, as the fate of this show was up in the air for quite some time, and Season 1 ended with an OMG cliffhanger that I didn’t see coming. (Really? It was you??) Season 1 played out as a fast-moving “whodunit” as a crew of six on a derelict spaceship awake from stasis with no memory of who they are and how they got there, and the only thing that was certain was that one of their ranks wiped their memories. That question has seemingly been answered. So, I’m excited to see the how the show will keep the mysteries coming. (Really? It was you??) Things certainly can’t be as they seem! — Vanessa
Season 2 premieres on Friday, July 1, on Syfy. - DirectorChris RenaudStarsLouis C.K.Eric StonestreetKevin HartThe quiet life of a terrier named Max is upended when his owner takes in Duke, a stray whom Max instantly dislikes. It's been a long time since a trailer made me laugh as hard as i I did when I watched the first teaser for The Secret Life of Pets. I watched over and over and shared it with all my pet-loving friends. I have a feeling this movie will join the ranks of Finding Nemo and Toy Story as a timeless family favorite. — Michelle
Opens Friday, July 8, in wide release. - DirectorJake SzymanskiStarsZac EfronAdam DevineAnna KendrickTwo hard-partying brothers place an online ad to find the perfect dates for their sister's Hawaiian wedding. Hoping for a wild getaway, the boys instead find themselves out-hustled by an uncontrollable duo. It's wedding season, y'all! Welcome to Wedding Crashers: The Next Generation. Mike and Dave Stangle (played by Adam DeVine and Zac Efron) are looking for dates to their sister’s wedding. So, naturally, they put out an ad on Craigslist. I'm looking forward to the debauchery that unfolds, watching Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza try to out-bro the bros, Adam DeVine and Zac Efron. — Akimi
Opens Friday, July 8, in wide release. - DirectorMatt RossStarsViggo MortensenGeorge MacKaySamantha IslerIn the forests of the Pacific Northwest, a father devoted to raising his six kids with a rigorous physical and intellectual education is forced to leave his paradise and enter the world, challenging his idea of what it means to be a parent. For my 10th birthday my father gave me a bunch of grown-up books about philosophy and math. So, I'm excited to see a movie about a similarly weird dad. Viggo Mortensen stars as Ben, a man who home-schooled his six kids in the country. When his wife commits suicide, the family is forced to leave their cocoon. His children soon discover that they are ill-prepared for the outside world. The film won the Un Certain Regard directing prize at the Cannes Film Festival and seems poised to become this summer's indie hit. — Sara
Opens Friday, July 8, in limited release. - CreatorScott DunlopStarsTeresa GiudiceMelissa GorgaJoe GorgaAnother installment of Bravo's "The Real Housewives" reality show. In this series, they focus on housewives living in New Jersey. In the words of Melissa Gorga, things are changing in Jersey. My excitement level for the return of this show (and Teresa Giudice) is off the charts! With what is sure to be an emotional reunion for Teresa Giudice and her family after her being in prison for a year, the storylines are going to be more real and raw than we've ever seen before. — Shara
Season 7 Premieres Sunday, July 10, on Bravo - CreatorSam EsmailStarsRami MalekChristian SlaterCarly ChaikinElliot, a brilliant but unstable cyber-security engineer and vigilante hacker, becomes a key figure in a complex game of global chaos when he and his shadowy allies try to take down the corrupt corporation his company is paid to protect.“Mr. Robot” was hands-down my favorite show of 2015, and I’ve been waiting less than patiently since the post credit finale scene for Season 2. (Didn’t see that one coming did you??) Season 1 gave us the kind of massive revelations usually held back for a third or fourth season, and left us with more questions than answers. And you know, I’m fine with that. I’m so far down the rabbit hole with this series and looking forward to plummeting deeper. The slate has been wiped clean for Season 2; anything could happen as we head back into Elliot’s (Rami Malek) head and follow his unreliable journey through the fallout of the Five/Nine hack. Series creator, writer, producer, and genius Sam Esmail is also taking on directing duties for all of Season 2, which will be truly a singular, self-contained vision. I could go on and on and on about this show. — Vanessa

Ghostbusters! My excitement level is through the roof for this one. Directed by Paul Feig and starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon with a side of Chris Hemsworth, this fresh take on the supernatural comedy is sure to bring the LOLs. — Shara

Debuts Friday, July 15, on Netflix - CreatorJody HillDanny McBrideStarsDanny McBrideWalton GogginsSheaun McKinneyAn overprotective father is obsessed with becoming a principal and competes against the popular vice principal. However, something happens that makes them work together to save the day.I'm so excited to see Danny McBride and Walton Goggins go head-to-head on the small screen this month. The two play immature high school vice principals (and frenemies) vying to become top dog. Both actors have already proven they can play supreme jerks with the best of 'em — who didn't love Goggins in "Justified" and McBride in "East Bound and Down"? The onscreen sparks and vitriolic humor are sure to fly in their first ever project together. — Chako
Premieres on HBO on Sunday, July 17. - DirectorMike BirbigliaStarsKeegan-Michael KeyGillian JacobsMike BirbigliaWhen a member of a popular New York City improv troupe gets a huge break, the rest of the group - all best friends - start to realize that not everyone is going to make it after all.Who hasn't at one point or another mused about hitting it big as a comedian on "Saturday Night Live"? This film explores what happens to an improv group when comedy success comes to a member of the troupe in the form of a big break on a weekend TV show. Written and directed by the very funny Mike Birbiglia, this movie seeks to do more than just serve up additional hackneyed improv-as-real-life metaphors. It exposes the perils of transitioning into your 30s, the challenge of being funny both on stage and off, and the need to (re)define success as a very personal matter. — Bret
Opens Friday, July 22, in limited release. - CreatorRaphael Bob-WaksbergStarsWill ArnettAmy SedarisAlison BrieBoJack Horseman was the star of the hit television show "Horsin' Around" in the '80s and '90s, but now he's washed up, living in Hollywood, complaining about everything, and wearing colorful sweaters.I love this show. Finally I get to see animals the way I like them: walking around like human beings. The show keeps getting better. So, I am excited to see if they can top themselves again. — Lance
Season 3 premieres on Friday, July 22, on Netflix. - DirectorMandie FletcherStarsJennifer SaundersJoanna LumleyJane HorrocksAfter attracting both media and police attention for accidentally knocking Kate Moss into the River Thames, Edina and Patsy hide out in the south of France.Sweetie, baby, darling ... Patsy and Edina are back! The British TV comedy about two perpetually drunk fashionistas was the toast of the 1990s in England and had a major cult following in the U.S. Now the duo are getting their own movie. Based on the trailer, the characters' trademark dark humor has survived the passage of time, though Patsy and Edina still seemed determined to party like its 1999. — Sara
Opens Friday, July 22, in limited release. - DirectorMeera MenonStarsAnna GunnJames PurefoySarah Megan ThomasSenior investment banker Naomi Bishop is threatened by a financial scandal and must untangle a web of corruption. In her first major role since "Breaking Bad" wrapped, Anna Gunn consumes and savors every line of dialogue in the promising trailer for this Wall Street thriller. Looks like Gunn will be psychosexually involved with James Purefoy (jealous) and cat-and-moused by the generally underutilized Alysia Reiner, who plays a state attorney and old friend of Gunn's character.
Reiner along with supporting actress Sarah Megan Thomas are two of the principals in the recently formed production/distribution company Broad Street Pictures, adding some realness to these proceedings. — Arno
Opens Friday, July 29, in limited release - DirectorPaul GreengrassStarsMatt DamonTommy Lee JonesAlicia VikanderThe CIA's most dangerous former operative is drawn out of hiding to uncover more explosive truths about his past.Jason Bourne is reborn, and this time he remembers everything. If he was having an identity crisis in the first installment, imagine what the former CIA assassin has to contend with now.
If you’re looking for a break from superheroes (and you likely will be come late July), Bourne is your guy. No special powers or high-tech gadgets: He gets by on wits and muscle, oh, and some fire, guns, and motorcycles; this is a summer blockbuster. Best of all, Bourne is a spy with a conscience, and he could kick Bond’s boozed-up butt. — Melissa
Opens Friday, July 29, in wide release. - DirectorAnthony C. FerranteStarsIan ZieringTara ReidMasiela LushaFin, his family and the cosmos have been blissfully sharknado-free in the five years since the most recent attack, but now sharks and tornadoes are being whipped up in unexpected ways and places.Need a diversion from political coverage of the Democratic and Republican Conventions? A freak cyclone of man-eating sharks may be just the ticket. Yes, Syfy returns with an even more cleverly titled fourth edition of its cult favorite. In this latest film, Fin (Ian Ziering) and April Shepard (Tara Reid) are back five years after the events of "Sharknado 3." And the action, set in Las Vegas, is just as preposterous and campy. Joining returning faces David Hasselhoff and Ryan Newman are Tommy Davidson, Gary Busey, Cody Linley, Stacey Dash, and Cheryl Tiegs, plus a slew of cameos too numerous and too blissfully random to mention here. Does April live or die? Who cares! It's Vegas! — Bret
Premieres on HBO on Sunday, July 31, on Syfy.
