This includes films that never made it onto the big screen (either unproduced or unfinished).

1. Nicolas Cage

Actor | Face/Off

Nicolas Cage was born Nicolas Kim Coppola in Long Beach, California, the son of comparative literature professor August Coppola (whose brother is director Francis Ford Coppola) and dancer/choreographer Joy Vogelsang. He is of Italian (father) and Polish and German (mother) descent. Cage changed his...

Kal-El / Clark Kent / Superman for Superman Lives: Remember when Clerks director Kevin Smith was chosen to pen the script of one of the aborted film projects to revive the Superman film series? Smith, a comic book fan, wrote a script titled Superman Lives for Warner Bros. in 1996. Based on the "Death of Superman" script, preproduction began during early 1997 with concept art done for the film, while Cage was cast during the year and then Tim Burton became director. However, Burton replaced Smith with Wesley Strick and sadly the script was rewritten to a script panned by fans. Several disagreements with Jon Peters during 1998 resulted in Burton quitting the film, while Cage left in 2000, thus declaring Superman Lives dead. The next proposed project was Superman: Flyby (excluding Batman vs Superman).

2. Brigitte Nielsen

Actress | Red Sonja

Actress, model, presenter and singer Brigitte Nielsen was born July 15, 1963 in Rødovre, a little place near Copenhagen in Denmark. At the end of high school when she was sixteen, Gitte (her given name) left her family to begin her modeling career. She worked for top fashion designers like Giorgio ...

Jennifer Walters / She-Hulk for She-Hulk: Danish statuesque beauty Nielsen was cast in Larry Cohen's film based on the Marvel Comics superheroine in 1991 and did publicity shots as the character. However, the film was cancelled around 1993-94 due to budget concerns.

3. Arnold Schwarzenegger

Actor | Terminator 2: Judgment Day

With an almost unpronounceable surname and a thick Austrian accent, who would have ever believed that a brash, quick talking bodybuilder from a small European village would become one of Hollywood's biggest stars, marry into the prestigious Kennedy family, amass a fortune via shrewd investments and...

Robert Neville for I Am Legend: Before Francis Lawrence became director, Ridley Scott was director for Warner's film adaptation back in 1997. Schwarzenegger was cast as Dr. Neville, the main protagonist and filming was set to begin in September 1997. However, it was postponed several times and due to Scott's recent underperformed films 1492: Conquest of Paradise, White Squall and G.I. Jane along with Schwarzenegger's recent films Eraser and Batman & Robin underperformed as well, it was cancelled in March 1998. Schwarzenegger would remain involved with the project as producer when it was revived in 2002 with Michael Bay (before he went a much crappy director) setting to direct and Will Smith as Neville, but the project again was cancelled later. Only Smith remained involved when it was revived for a third but successful time.

4. Bo Derek

Actress | Bolero

Bo Derek (born Mary Cathleen Collins) is an American actress and model. Her breakthrough film role was in the romantic comedy 10 (1979). Her first husband John Derek directed her in Fantasies; Tarzan, the Ape Man (both 1981); Bolero (1984) and Ghosts Can't Do It (1989), all of which received ...

Alison Blaire / Dazzler for Dazzler: It's a known fact that the Marvel Comics mutant superheroine was originally created for a cross promotion tie-in with PolyGram label Casablanca Records. However, the film failed to materialise twice: In 1982, due to the decline of disco and in 1988, due to Filmworks' successor PolyGram Filmed Entertainment baulked at Derek's request to have her husband John Derek as director.
