The greatest music acts of all time

by dfle3 | created - 14 Sep 2020 | updated - 4 months ago | Public

Bands, solo artists etc from various popular genres. If I don't own studio albums by them or haven't found one I like, I'll list songs by them which I love. To make this list, a music act needs 10 songs that I like or highly rate (I won't necessarily list them all here).

Essential albums are listed before the "/" sign (if they're in my list of the greatest albums of all time (see my link below), I'll put their position in round brackets, like the one used for this sentence). Acts which don't have at least 10 songs that I like may qualify for my "Not quite legends" portion of this list, where they either have some albums that I rate or at least 5 songs that I like.

Acts, albums and songs are in some sort of ranked order but it's not a hard and fast process of ranking these after you get to a certain point.

I made a list of my greatest albums of all time on another site some years ago and I haven't really engaged with it for years either. The site isn't perfect but it will have to do. Ideally, I'd like to have heard 100 albums which I've scored 5/5 and then be in a position to have albums which I've scored less than 5/5 in my top 100, because there's something about them, e.g. Pink Floyd's "The piper at the gates of dawn" and others, no doubt. Here's the link (I have some other lists on this site too):

To make this list, an act needs at least 5 songs which I like, if not love.

Acts above and below this line can improve their positions as I hear more music by them.
