James McAvoy has been in the entertainment industry since he was a teenager. When he made his debut as an actor in The Near Room in 1995, he was not much interested in becoming an actor. However, that changed soon and he ended up going to the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. He graduated from the academy in 2000.

After taking a look back at House II: The Second Story (a favorite of mine since childhood), House of 1000 Corpses (which celebrated its 20th anniversary last year), the awesomeness of Tales from the Crypt Presents: Demon Knight, the leg smashing in the Stephen King adaptation Misery, three separate moments from John Carpenter’s Big Trouble in Little China, the “Jason vs. Tina” battle in Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood, and the “all hell breaks loose” sequence from the start of Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead remake,

"Salvation comes in the blink of an eye." Lightfold, a new animation studio based in Atlanta, has unveiled the first official trailer for their debut short called Godspeed. This is the latest creation from the animation filmmaker behind the popular Final Space sci-fi series, and it involves yet another space adventure sci-fi story. Godspeed follows a young woman named Iris, voiced by Bryce Charles, and her adorable karaoke-bot sidekick named Bowie as they navigate the desolate landscape of their crumbling world (sounds lot like Earth once climate change ravages everything). She must survive a planet-ending storm in hopes of finding a message that will help her escape this place. The voice cast also features Troy Baker (The Last of Us), Claudia Black, Coty Galloway & Olan Rogers (both from Final Space), and a few surprises. As most readers know, we're big fans of any and everything sci-fi, which is why we're posting this trailer.

Spoiler Alert: This recap contains spoilers from the Season 1 finale of Disney+/Lucasfilm’s Ahsoka, directed by Rick Famuyiwa and written by Dave Filoni.
Heading into tonight’s Season 1 finale of Ahsoka, fans knew we were flying to a cliffhanger; that Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) would make the jump to hyperspace via the space loop while some portion of Ahsoka and friends would be left behind without a prayer in the midst of the green tundra tumbleweeds of Peridea in a galaxy far, far away.
What didn’t happen in this episode were any major cameos from Star Wars canon dramatis personae of yore, i.e., Princess Leia or Luke Skywalker or Boba Fett or Baby Yoda. No, we got our fill of that with C-3Po in the last episode, when he appeared to defend Hera’s rogue mission before the snarky Galactic council.
Where do we go from here?...

This article contains spoilers for the latest episode of "Ahsoka."
You just never know who's going to show up in a galaxy far, far away these days. Whether it's "Cousin" Richie from "The Bear" (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) popping in to assist Cassian Andor on the Aldhani heist on "Andor" or Dr. John "J.D." Dorian from "Scrubs" (Zach Braff) playing the "Star Wars" equivalent of a Maga supporter on "Obi-Wan Kenobi," the supporting cast of the "Star Wars" franchise is an eclectic collection of top-of-the-line character actors and fan-favorites. Sometimes, however, you might not even recognize them, as they're buried under layers of makeup or wearing a helmet the entire time. That was exactly the case on the latest episode of "Ahsoka."
Titled "Far, Far Away," the episode follows those aboard the Eye of Scion to Peridea, the extra-galactic homeworld of the Dathomiri and a planet so ancient it had fallen into myth.

Several years after a falling out with her family in Detroit, a young woman returns to the city she grew up in to mourn the sudden death of her twin brother. Upon meeting her brother’s eclectic group of friends, stepping into the scene he belonged to, and navigating the urban playground that is Detroit, she soon discovers that his death is not what it seems.
Given the rising cost of living and stagnant wages, the famous saying that goes “You can never go home again.” Is more like “You can never leave home.” However Time Now does feature a protagonist, Jenny, who has left home, only returning to sort things out after the death of her twin brother.

"I don't want you getting dragged any further into this." Dark Star Pictures has debuted an official trailer for an indie noir crime thriller titled Time Now, written and directed by Detroit-based filmmaker Spencer King. This is arriving on VOD later in October for anyone interested in watching. A young mother returns to her estranged hometown of Detroit after the sudden death of her twin brother and immerses herself in his friend group, soon discovering that his death is not what it seems... Eleanor Lambert stars in this, with Claudia Black, Xxavier Polk, Paige Kendrick, Dwele, Sebastian Beacon, Jeannine Thompson, Peter Knox, Aaron Matthew Atkisson, and Asher Atkisson. Looks like there's something strange and supernatural going on in here. Hard to tell from just this footage, but seems like an intriguing Detroit noir. When people think of “Dune” adaptations, three projects most likely come to mind: David Lynch’s maligned “Dune” from 1984, Alejandro Jodorowsky’s failed attempt in the 1970s (immortalized in the documentary “Jodorowsky’s Dune”), and Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming 2021 version. But there’s a fourth adaptation that often goes overlooked: John Harrison’s 2000 miniseries for Syfy (known then as Sci Fi Channel) titled “Frank Herbert’s Dune.” The series was a ratings bonanza for Syfy and won two Emmys, leading to the 2003 sequel miniseries titled “Frank Herbert’s Children of Dune.” That’s where James McAvoy enters the picture.
Long before “The Chronicles of Narnia” and “Atonement,” McAvoy was cast in a main role for “Frank Herbert’s Children of Dune” miniseries, which adapted the events of Herbert’s novels “Dune Messiah” and “Children of Dune.” McAvoy played Leto II Atreides, the son of original “Dune” hero Paul Atreides and Chani (played by Timothee...

“Roles like this never come along where you have such complexity in a character,” says actress Laura Donnelly of her role in “The Nevers.” She portrays Amalia True in the HBO period/sci-fi mashup. Amalia at times gets glimpses of future events, beats down bad guys, and harbors other identities that are revealed as the series goes on. “Complexity” might be an understatement. Watch the exclusive video interview above.
Though viewers had to wait for Amalia’s backstory to unravel over the course of the season, Donnelly was gifted with this information from day one. The actress was thankful for the intel because it provided her “an opportunity to play the secrets that the character carries.” This involves a depressing origin story as a widow named Molly, and the hidden identity of a soldier from the future, known only as Stripe, who is trying to save the world from destruction.

Warning: This interview contains spoilers about tonight’s Part One Finale for HBO’s The Nevers, “True”.
After watching the first 26 minutes of tonight’s The Nevers, viewers were probably asking “What show is this?!”.
The series 6th episode, which is the last for this year, kicks off roughly a century from our present day in the future, but no exact year. A fighting squad secures an abandoned area where one of the alien Galanthi currently lives. More to the point, we meet Stripe (Claudia Black), a female fighter, whose soul is ultimately transported back into the body of Molly (who ultimately becomes Amalia True), played by Laura Donnelly, on the day of The Touched, Aug. 3, 1896.
We see Amalia’s past as Molly before she became Touched: How she was a gifted baker, married to a domineering, boorish husband who dies and leaves her with next to nothing. In the wake of this,...

The mission to save Isobel brought everyone together!
On Roswell, New Mexico Season 1 Episode 8, Isobel's life was hanging in the balance, and it was all her own fault.
Isobel agreeing to go into the hospital in the first place to allow herself to be experimented on was quite the surprise, but using her compulsion on Kyle to inject her with the serum was her dumbest move to date.
On the surface, she was trying to be a better person and thought that Liz was smart enough to have engineered a serum that would help suppress her powers and murderous tendencies.
That was far too good to be true because these surprise solutions need some time to be tested and Liz didn't have anything to test them on other than a group of mice.

Roswell, New Mexico‘s latest addition knows a thing or two about navigating complicated family dynamics on The CW. Claudia Black, who portrayed the Mikaelsons’ Aunt Dahlia on The Originals, is guest-starring on the midseason series as Max and Isobel’s adoptive mother Ann Evans, TVLine has learned exclusively.

The nominations for the Game Awards have been revealed and it should come to a surprise by no one that Nintendo is leading the way in nominations this year! Here are all the nominations and how to vote!
On December 7, 2017, 2017's video games, their studios, and the people who play them will be honored during The Game Awards 2017, hosted by Geoff Keighley. This year's event should have the gaming world buzzing, as Nintendo is finally in the limelight with about 24 nominations. No other studio can hold that distinction, but Nintendo. It's a long time coming for the once-booming company. The uptick can be attributed to their brand new system, the Nintendo Switch, that has changed the way the world games, as well as the way Nintendo develops.
Video games' biggest night is always a great time to reflect on the best games of the year, but it's also a huge night for reveals.

Developer Naughty Dog are continuing to prove they don’t need Nathan Drake to make a great looking Uncharted game, as demonstrated in this gameplay reveal that was presented at this year’s E3.
Starring fan favourite Chloe Frazer (Claudia Black) buddying up with Uncharted 4’s Nadine Ross (Laura Bailey), the pair are on a quest for the Tusk of Ganesh, taking them across the Western Ghats in India. Plenty of trademark platforming and gunplay in the video, plus a first look at the main antagonist, Asav played by Usman Ally.

Developer Sledgehammer Games has confirmed the single-player component of Call of Duty: WWII will feature a “global cast” of men, women, and children fighting on both sides of the conflict.
Word comes by way of GamesRadar, who caught up with the studio’s co-founder Michael Condrey to talk all things WWII and, in particular, its “emotional” campaign – a campaign that will do away with auto-regenerating health as we know it. It was here that Condrey reaffirmed Sledgehammer’s plan to tell most of its story through the lens of Red Daniels, but it seems players will also have the chance to step into the grubby boots of Russo, a French Resistance woman to be voiced by Jeannie Rousseau.
Beyond that, little is known about the full voice cast for Call of Duty: WWII, but it’s worth noting that previous entries in the franchise have attracted top-tier Hollywood talent including Gary Oldman,...

We salute 10 memorable guest roles on Stargate Sg-1, featuring Seth, The Keeper and more...
As with our previous features, this is a list designed to celebrate the very best performances by guest actors in Stargate Sg-1. However, we did come across a couple of challenges in compiling the list for this particular series. We’ve defined ‘guest performance’ as an actor playing a character who is not a regular or recurring character – so the actor must have played the character no more than twice in this particular series (though they may have appeared more often in other branches of the franchise). Stargate Sg-1 liked to re-use its best guest characters as often as possible, frequently bringing back characters like Claudia Black’s Vala Mal Doran after what was initially a one-off appearance, which is great as the audience get to enjoy them again, but seriously reduces the number of eligible performances.

The folks at The CW are hoping there's room for one more with their Containment series. How will this one perform in the ratings? Cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
On Containment, a mysterious and lethal epidemic breaks out in Atlanta and a wide reaching urban quarantine is quickly enforced. This forces those who are stuck on the inside to fight for their lives while, local and federal officials desperately search for a cure. After a strong start, 10 seasons and multiple spin-offs took Stargate Sg-1 further and further away from its original premise...
I’ve recently had time to catch-up on the staple of afternoon television when I was a lad, Stargate Sg-1. First launched in 1997, it ran for ten seasons and it’s aged surprisingly well, in no small part due to it being heavily character-driven and fairly horror-focussed for its first two runs. This is most likely thanks to its first five seasons airing on sex-and-guts cable channel Showtime, while its later seasons aired the more clean-cut Syfy channel in the Us. All in all, it’s rip-roaring sci-fi; the kind of ‘explore and fight with interesting plots and great character arcs’ storytelling that filled the void left by successive Star Trek series which never quite captured the wonder of the unknown in the way that the Original Series or The Next Generation did.

To clarify, this article and the ones similar to it are not reviews of this fall/midseason’s pilots (because pilots can change a lot between now and when they broadcast). These are just my first impressions of the not-for-air network pilots that I have been able to screen. I last wrote about ABC’s Quantico. Next up: The CW’s Containment, which premieres at midseason. The Premise: An epidemic breaks out in Atlanta, leaving the large city quarantined and those stuck on the inside fighting for their lives. The Cast: David Gyasi (Interstellar) as Lex, Chris Wood (The Vampire Diaries) as Jake Riley, Christina Marie Moses (Twisted) as Jana, Kristen Gutoskie (Beaver Falls) as Katie Frank, Claudia Black (The Originals) as Dr. Sabine Lommers, and Hanna Mangan Lawrence (Spartacus) as Teresa First Impression: Julie Plec is quickly becoming the Shonda Rhimes of The CW, and that’s not a bad thing.
