It has been a long, long time since Linda Ronstadt sold the rights to her streaming catalog.
The singer reacted to the viral sequence in HBO’s “The Last of Us” featuring her 1970 ballad “Long Long Time.” The song jumped 4,900 percent on Spotify within an hour of the episode airing January 29 and rose to 149,000 percent the following day. The song is featured three separate times in the episode, including actors Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett playing the track on a piano. “Long Long Time” is also the title of the episode.

There’s nothing confidential about the fact that for every movie as quality as The Irishman that Netflix releases, they drop about five as mediocre as Spenser Confidential. Based on the series of novels by Robert B. Parker, later adapted as a television show starring Robert Urich, Spenser Confidential is the kind of movie that you’d be livid spending money to see at the cinema, but you’ll shrug off and forget about five minutes after streaming it. Even Mark Wahlberg, who stars as the titular Spenser, seems bored with the film.
Set in Boston (because where else would a Mark Wahlberg vehicle be set?), Spenser Confidential centers on Spenser, a recently released convict and ex-police officer. Spenser was thrown in jail after assaulting the captain of his precinct, and on the day of Spenser’s release, that same captain is murdered. The murder is pinned on a young...

One of the many reminders of the often discounted greatness of Linda Ronstadt arrives about 30 minutes into Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman’s documentary Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice. We see the biggest female rock star of the time (1976) in a studio with her band, filming what’s essentially an early music video. The song — Karla Bonoff’s sad-sack ballad of epic proportions, “Lose Again” — builds in gale-force winds with each verse and chorus. The band appears to be instrument-synching with the track, but Ronstadt, standing behind a microphone,...

Linda Ronstadt was always tough to figure out. And for the filmmakers behind “Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice,” which premiered on Friday night at the Tribeca Film Festival, that makes her both a rich subject for a non-fiction film, and a challenging one.
Ronstadt, after all, is a singer whose career was defined by restlessness and genre-hopping; a rock ‘n’ roll sex symbol whose upper lip alone launched thousands of crushes but who was always far smarter than even her fans gave her credit for being; a perfectionist who knew what she wanted but had trouble believing she was good enough to give it; and a private woman in a public game.
She wasn’t easily summed up when she first came to Los Angeles more than five decades also, and she isn’t easily summed up now.

There’s a lot of talk these days about empowerment in the music industry. “Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice,” directed by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman (“The Celluloid Closet”), is a no-frills documentary that tells the enthralling story of one of the most powerful women in the history of pop music, and the movie is a testament to how different empowerment once looked, yet how potent it still was. When you watch Beyoncé’s “Homecoming,” there’s hardly an atomic particle onscreen that doesn’t vibrate with power. Every costume stitch, every twist and strut of the marching-band members, every triumphant booty shake, every now-hear-this lyric — it’s all about an exultant freedom that’s not being asked for, or even demanded. It has been achieved.
Contrast that with the song that put the 21-year-old Linda Ronstadt on the map. The year was 1967, she was a member of the L.

Thirty-nine years ago next month, Linda Ronstadt released Mad Love, her tenth LP as a solo artist. Ronstadt had previously topped both the pop and country singles charts respectively with high-spirited takes on “You’re No Good” and “When Will I Be Loved,” but Mad Love put the singer in new-wave rock & roll territory. While it’s actually one of her most adventurously vibrant efforts – not to mention Grammy-nominated and her seventh straight million-seller – reviews of the album were decidedly mixed.

CBC, a Canadian TV network, announced that its hit original series Being Erica's third season will premiere Tuesday, September 21 at 9 Pm. This premiere happens to be one week after the release of the show's second season on DVD on September 14.
Those who have seen the second season knows that Erica Strange (Erin Karpluk), a thirty-two-year-old woman from Toronto, broke up with her boyfriend, Ethan Wakefield (Tyron Leitso). Besides, she got fired from her job as a junior editor at River Rock, a publishing house along with her boss (and also friend), Julianne Giacomelli (Reagan Pasternak). As the second season's cliffhanger suggested it, Erica and Julianne have decided to found a publishing house of their own.
Brent Kennedy (Morgan Kelly), Erica's and Julianne's former colleague, is now the editor at River Rock. Because he holds a grudge against Erica and Julianne, he'll stop at nothing to put them out of business.

Although CBC, a Canadian public TV network, hasn't formally made an announcement, The Cultural Post has a strong proof that the TV series Being Erica got renewed for a third season. Therefore, this is not an attempt to spread a rumour on the net.
First of all, according to the Ontario Media Development Corporation (Omdc), the third season of this show created by Jana Sinyor will be in production from May 17 to October 15.
Moreover, since there's no formal announcement of CBC that The Cultural Post can speak of, this also means that there are no details about the third season's story. Nonetheless, if any of you don't know what Being Erica is all about, here's a description of the synopsis.
Erica Strange (Erin Karpluk) is a woman of 32 years old. Since the events of the first season, she has been in relation with Ethan Wakefield (Tyron Leitso), a school teacher.

Land of the Lost is the latest movie to be gifted to us by NBC Universal. The movie stars Will Ferrell, Anna Friel, Danny McBride and John Boylan and is directed by Brad Silberling. Ok, so where do I start with this one. I guess I begin by telling you that I’m not the biggest Will Ferrell fan in the world so this review may, in part be influenced by that fact. That said, I have found him very funny in The Anchorman and Wedding Crashers.
Land of the Lost is about Dr. Rick Marshall (Ferrell), a ridiculed physicist who, after inventing a device to move between alternate universes, is sucked into a space-time vortex with his assistant (Anna Friel) and a tour guide (Danny McBride). In this alternate universe, the trio make friends with a primate named Chaka (Jorma Taccone), their only ally in a world full of dinosaurs and other fantastic creatures.

Many a '70s kid thrilled to the cheesy TV series "Land of the Lost," and some of them, it appears, grew up to run movie studios. That might explain why this decrepit property has now been turned into a movie. It doesn't excuse it, though. The picture is a CGI adventure comedy with a mild line in PG-13 laughs, a surprising lack of fresh adventure (did the filmmakers chop up an early print of "Journey to the Center of the Earth" and smoke it?), and very little in the way of digital dinosaurs and whatnot that hasn't been paraded past us many times before. It's worth noting that two of the movie's funniest scenes — one involving a giant mosquito and the other a confrontation...

Like stepping into a snazzy but clunky time machine ride, .Land of the Lost. leaves its 70s TV-show roots behind and travels full-speed ahead to the future to transform into a multi-million dollar big-screen production.
Marshall, Will, and Holly return tagging along their ape-boy pal Chaka. The dinosaurs also make a comeback, so do the slow but creepy reptilians called Sleestak. The big question remains . do we really need a .Land of the Lost. reboot? Apparently, show creators Sid and Marty Krofft think so. They.re behind this mildly entertaining and mindless special effects extravaganza.
Updating the show.s special effects may be the only driving force behind this movie makeover. I remember the stodgy dinosaur claymation of the 70s series. But as a child, I thought it was the coolest thing ever. With the big screen version, you know it.s in trouble when Matt Lauer (yeah,...

The gang over at Collider got their hands on a new picture from Land of the Lost -- and as I'd like them to keep their scoop (particularly since the trades like ripping them off), you'll have to click on the bug-eyed lizard to see the whole photo. Devin Faraci has confirmed the photo is the real deal, and that it's the first look at Enik. If you adored the show (which I didn't, the Sleestaks scared the crap out of me), you might remember this kind fellow as the guard of a time portal. He's played by John Boylan, who's really quite handsome under that make-up.
Enik represents what the Sleestaks once were -- a proud civilization called the Altrusians, a race that could talk and wear clothes, and who eventually devolved into the mean and naked Sleestaks.
