Roald Dahl's novel "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" was first published in 1963, and has been a perennial classroom favorite ever since. The story tells the tale of an impoverished, Dickensian moppet named Charlie who wins a sweepstakes held by the chocolate factory in his town. The chocolate factory, overseen by an eccentric recluse named Willy Wonka, produced sweets with eerie, magical powers; multi-flavored chewing gum caused its chewer to expand into a massive blueberry. That sort of thing. Of all the children who won Willy Wonka's sweepstakes, only Charlie survived the tour. Well, the other kids survived, but definitely the worse for wear.
Dahl's book was first adapted to a feature film in 1971, but that was only the first adaptation of many. The BBC adapted the book into a radio drama in 1983, and Zx Spectrum adapted it into a video game in 1985. There was a second video game...

There was a time in the late 70s, at the height of the musicals comeback, when Hollywood went knocking on many a musicians door in an attempt to find the next big thing in the genre. Of course being one of the biggest bands on the planet in the 70s, that meant producers tapped Kiss for movie stardom. After all, Kiss were already known for extraordinary over-the-top stage shows and had their own Marvel Comic where they were not just rock gods but superheroes!

We are only a few weeks away from the geeky awesomeness that is San Diego Comic-Con, and studios are lining up to show off their upcoming slate of projects. Today, Warner Bros. announced details on what they plan on bringing to the show, including the DC Comics based TV shows, Batman anniversary celebration, and first looks at the final Hobbit film and Mad Max Fury Road.
If you're planning your Sdcc weekend around what could be announced, then these schedules will come in very handy for you. WB has now announced their schedule of events and broken down what they expect to show at this year's event. From the sounds of it we'll be getting our first teasers for The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies and, thankfully, Mad Max: Fury Road.
While some are wondering at the absence of any mention of Batman v. Superman, I wouldn't get too upset just yet.

One of the best procedurals currently on television is a half-hour cartoon that has been on television in one form or another since 1969 and was a major inspiration for what many (myself included) believe was the greatest serial drama in the history of television. The irony is that Scooby-Doo was solidly mediocre until the debut of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated last summer.
The reason that Scooby-Doo was mediocre for decades was that it was designed to protect children from violence on children’s television. When it debuted in 1969, it was intended to be a safer replacement for its more violent predecessors like Jonny Quest and Space Ghost. The series was formulaic to a...

Comic-Con International has released the full schedule for Sunday July 24th for San Diego Comic-Con 2011. This is the final day of the convention. Sunday is known as Kids day and is usually the slowest of all the days, there are a few surprises though. In all my years of going to Comic-Con I've never been to a panel in Hal H. Usually nothing is happening in Hall H on Sunday, this year there are a few TV programs going on in Hall H such a as Glee, Supernatural, Doctor Who, The Cleveland Show, Sons of Anarchy, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and this year Buffy the Musical will be in the great Hall as well. I've never been to the Buffy Musical event, and I think I finally want to go this year. A couple of other things worth noting are a one on one panel with Nathan Fillion, and Max Brooks talks about zombies.

If past years are any indication, Comic-Con will begin releasing its official 2011 panel schedule later today (Wednesday) with the schedule for Preview Night, Wednesday, July 20. If that happens then we can expect them to follow suit for the rest of the days, so that Thursday will see the release of the Thursday of Con schedule, etc., through Sunday.
Once the official schedules are posted these “TV and Movie Panels and Screenings Updates” will be scaled back to just the date, time, title, and location, since the rest of the information and So Much More (including comics panels, autograph signings, etc.) will be available on the Comic-Con schedule link we’ll provide. Consider this, then, the last of the extremely long posts, and hopefully we’ll be getting that official schedule soon.

The second update but absolutely not the last. We have yet to hear from the major networks, Syfy, TNT or USA about their panels. More to the point, we have yet to hear from Comic-Con, at least as to the official schedule.

It likely only took that long because only a certain number of people could be purchasing at one time. Information added to this update includes Locke & Key, Dexter, Shameless, Homeland, Archer, Wilfred, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Sons of Anarchy, Shark Night 3D, Haywire, The Raven, Immortals, Thanks to THR...

Woo Hoo! Comic-Con 2011 info is really starting to flow! First out of the gate for that appears to be from Warner Bros. Television Group. The panel blurbs, along with the dates, times, and room numbers, have been released in a statement. Superhero Tooniverse: My family and I happened to catch the first two episodes, and we were all laughing our asses off. Spike Brandt: I think, the original Looney Tunes cartoons weren't just made for children, they were made for everyone and that's pretty much the same approach we wanted to take, too. The whole goal was, we didn’t want to make a show that wasn't appropriate for kids, but there's stuff in there for adults and kids. The best of animation, the best of these characters, always had a broad appeal, so that was definitely something we wanted to do. Superhero Tooniverse: Why do you think that the Looney Tunes characters have become such a hard sell to today’s kids when they used to be loved by all? Tony Cervone: You know, for a long time, they didn't have a lot of competition – there weren't that...

Few cartoon characters can boast the name recognition or audience appeal of that infamous wascally wabbit Bugs Bunny, but it's been a long road for the folks at Warner Bros. Animation to get him and the rest of the 'Looney Tunes' gang back on our screens. We've seen them in baby form, variety shows, basketball movies and computer games, but at 8Pm Et on May 3, we'll see Bugs and Daffy as we've never seen them before: in a suburban sitcom on Cartoon Network.
Last month, AOL TV was invited to a preview of 'The Looney Tunes Show' at Warner Bros. Animation in Burbank, and we had the opportunity to sit down with the series' writers, Hugh Davidson and Rachel Ramras, producers Tony Cervone and Spike Brandt, and character designer Jessica Borutski to find out how they approached the task of updating such iconic characters for a new generation.

The Saturday and Sunday line-ups for San Diego Comic Con 2010 programming have been released. Some big studios will present their upcoming big projects on July 24, while the organizers arrange the last day to be "Kids' Day".
Possibly getting the most attention on Saturday, July 24 will be Warner Bros. which is going to bring "Harry Potter" film franchise for the first time by presenting a sneak peek to the last installment, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows", but the studio has confirmed that the cast won't attend the panel. As if it is not enough, the studio will also tease attendees with a look at "Green Lantern" and "Sucker Punch".
Other panels that will become spotlights that day are Marvel Studios' presentation for "Thor" and "Captain America : The First Avenger", and Screen Gems' panel for "Resident Evil: Afterlife". Moreover, Universal Pictures will use Hall H to introduce "Paul" and "Cowboys and Aliens".

Although Sundays are known as "Kids' Day" at the San Diego Comic-Con, there's still enough horror oriented content being offered on the final day of the 2010 show to keep fans sticking around "America's Finest City" for at least one more go-around our massive Convention Center.

6:00–9:00 p.m. Special Sneak Peek Pilot Screenings – Comic-Con and Warner Bros. Television are proud to continue the tradition of presenting exclusive screenings of some of the most buzzed-about new television series of the upcoming season. In the sexy and suspenseful series starring international action star Maggie Q (Mission: Impossible III) in the title role, Nikita has gone rogue. No one ever leaves Division – except the charming and deadly Nikita, who has managed to escape, making it her mission to undermine the now-corrupt organization.

Another day, another update to the Comic Con schedule. Previously we posted Fox's press release detailing the shows the network would be bringing to Comic Con (July 21-25), as well as details about the various panels. Today, Warner Brothers has announced the timing of its various panels and screenings. It looks like WB will be pushing its new CW show Nikita this year, with a special screening to be held on Wednesday, July 21 (otherwise known as "Preview Night"). I've seen Nikita (more on that in a future review) and the question is whether it's worth your time. Well, I liked the show. A lot, actually. So if you can attend the preview, then I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Meanwhile, we have details about the Fringe, Supernatural, Chuck and Smallville panels below, to name but a few.

Cartoon Network is branching out into new genres, launching its first awards show and ramping up its efforts in the live-action arena.
The network also said Wednesday during its upfront presentation that it is launching a new version of Warner Bros.' classic "Looney Tunes" series starring Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck and unveiled several new series and pilots.
"We're delivering and adding great brands and beloved franchises that represent the breadth and scope of Cartoon Network's ongoing evolution," said Stuart Snyder, president and COO of Turner Broadcasting's Animation, Young Adults and Kids Media division.
"Cartoon Network's Hall of Game" will honor professional and amateur athletes. The show, created and produced by Img Media, is set to debut early next year.
