Of President Joe Biden’s myriad quips and Dad joke-level zingers at Saturday night’s White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner — including around the thorny issue of his age and aimed at former President Donald Trump — one joke, in particular, referenced a notable, recent move by his campaign.
Speaking to a crowd of media figures, A-list celebrities and Beltway power brokers who’d just wrapped up their dinner, Biden started serving up one punchline after another. About halfway through his tight 15, the president referred to his recent sitdown with talk radio host Howard Stern.
“I have higher standards,” Biden said from the podium. “I do interviews with strong independent journalists who millions of people actually listen to…like Howard Stern.”
Goofing on Stern’s journalistic credibility landed with the audience, which, despite the spectacle of the star-studded event, is meant to honor the bravery, tenacity and grit of some of the best reporters in the nation.

Howard Stern said on Monday that he’d love to have exercise guru Richard Simmons on his show to “get to the bottom” of why he dropped out of sight. But so far, Simmons has turned down his invites.
The “Sweatin’ to the Oldies” star, who hasn’t made a public appearance since 2013, alarmed fans last week when a tweet of his implied he was dying. The 75-year-old later clarified that his tweet was not to be taken literally and that he was in good health (since everyone is technically always one day closer to their inevitable death).
After Stern discussed the incident, his producer Gary Dell’Abate said he’d been corresponding with Simmons, who is a friend.
“I wrote to Richard, not for airtime for the radio, and I’m not gonna talk about what we discussed, but I did confirm that I was corresponding with him. Because, you know,...

The 1984 movie Ghostbusters was an instant classic, and over the years, it has only become more beloved. Fans love the movie for the witty dialogue, the original concept, and, of course, the iconic characters. One of these characters is Winston Zeddemore, played to perfection by Ernie Hudson. Sardonic and laid-back, Winston was the perfect accompaniment to the rambunctious trio of scientists, played by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis. However, behind the scenes, Hudson struggled to feel included in Ghostbusters, as he revealed in a recent interview with SiriusXM.
Ernie Hudson starred in both original ‘Ghostbusters’ films
Hudson’s character, Winston Zeddemore, was introduced about halfway through the first Ghostbusters film. Relaxed and charming, Winston was ready to join the Ghostbusters team — as long as he was compensated for his efforts. He easily fit in with the crew, helping them save New York City from an invading army of hostile spirits,...

Ernie Hudson is opening up about the psychological effect Ghostbusters had on him.
In an interview with SiriusXM’s Gary Dell’Abate and Rahsaan Rogers on The Howard Stern Wrap Up Show, Hudson explained that while he had so much love and appreciation for Ivan Reitman and his fellow Ghostbusters, the studio was a different story.
“I was the guy who was brought in, and so finding my place in the middle of that — and they were all welcoming and inclusive,” the actor recalled of joining the cast. “The studio wasn’t, and the studio continued not to be. So it made it very, very difficult because I was a part of it, but then I very selectively was pushed aside.”
Hudson shared an example on the radio show of how the studio wasn’t very supportive, pointing out that he wasn’t on the movie posters when they came out.

When it came to having a signature voice in his acting and comedy, Gilbert Gottfried was king. Before his 2017 documentary, rarely did the public get to hear what the comedian — behind beloved avian characters Cyberchase‘s Didge, Aladdin‘s Iago, and the Aflac duck — sounded like when he was out of character.
But one time, when Gottfried — who died at age 67 — visited The Howard Stern Show, listeners got a glimpse of what Gottfried sounded like when he wasn’t acting. After playing sound from Aladdin, Stern shared a clip of...

If you’re missing Alec Baldwin’s star turn as our intrepid leader on Saturday Night Live, you can savor a few fleeting, grainy moments once again as Howard Stern interviewed Baldwin and his yoga-instructor wife Hilaria on Wednesday in Stern’s third day back on his SiriusXM show. Carrie Fisher Shares More Racy ‘Secrets’ from the Set of Star Wars: The Ewoks ‘Screwed Like Rabbits’
Carrie Fisher was shocked by the reaction to the revelation of her whirlwind three-month affair with Harrison Ford while filming the original Star Wars, so she decided to spill a few more shocking “secrets” from the set.
With the help of Stephen Colbert (and her constant companion, Gary the French bulldog), the 60-year-old actress invented some behind-the-scenes stories that didn’t make it into her new memoir, The Princess Diarist.
“There were a lot of pranks on set,” Fisher revealed. “One time we cut off Mark Hamill‘s hand, and they decided to keep it in the movie.”

Sarah Silverman made big news on Monday night when she called the "Bernie or Bust" crowd "ridiculous" from the DNC stage in primetime, but for Howard Stern fans her speech was notable for another reason: it was the first time "Baba Booey" was invoked, at least to my knowledge, at a major political convention. For those not in the know: "Baba Booey" is the nickname of longtime Howard Stern Show producer Gary Dell'Abate, who has (mostly) come to embrace the moniker since he was first anointed with it on July 26, 1990 (backstory here). More broadly, though, it's become a way for Stern Show fans to make their presence known at high-profile events, from professional golf tournaments to network news broadcasts. In short: when you hear "Baba Booey" shouted out, you can be pretty sure there's a Stern fanatic in the general vicinity. Silverman -- who was an ardent Bernie Sanders supporter...

Not many people can say they enjoy watching themselves die, but Gary Oldman clearly did on “Conan.” The actor got a good laugh during Tuesday's show when host Conan O'Brien showed him a montage (above) of his many movie death scenes. See video: Gary Oldman Apologizes for Inflammatory Remarks During Kimmel: ‘I Am An A-hole’ Oldman, who can currently be seen in theaters as the leader of the human resistance in “Dawn in the Planet of the Apes,” has died in 13 movies. “True Romance,” “Sid and Nancy,” “Harry Potter,” “The Fifth Element” and “Air Force One” are among his most famous farewells.

If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night.
John Stamos was on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" to plug his movie "My Man Is a Loser." Obviously, Uncle Jesse is not a loser, but he plays a playboy in the movie. He told Jimmy Kimmel he believes in the institution of marriage (he was married once, to Rebecca Romijn), despite getting caught up in the idea of the whole bachelor life "so guys like you can live vicariously through me." John said he'd switch lives with Jimmy in a heartbeat, to have a beautiful wife and baby. "She'll go to you," Jimmy deadpanned of his wife, Molly. Watch the video for John's weird attempt at a compliment to "fertilize" Jimmy's wife.

Still trying to atone for his sins, Gary Oldman appeared on “ Jimmy Kimmel Live” last night (June 25) and ended up saying he’s sorry for his comments about Jews in his chat with Playboy magazine.
The “Immortal Beloved” actor explained, "It was an article I did with Playboy and I said some things that were poorly considered."
"Once I saw it in print, I saw that it was insensitive, pernicious and ill-informed. I am a public figure, I should be an example and inspiration and I am an a*shole. I am 56. I should know better. I extend my apology and my love and best wishes to my fan base."
Gary also noted, “Words have meaning and they carry weight. And they carry on long after you've said them. I don't condone or excuse the words that I used in any context. I just basically shouldn't have used them, but...

Here it is ... Proof ... that 50 Cent's arm isn't as terrible as it seemed during his legendarily awful first pitch at Tuesday's Mets game. Just before he took the mound at Citi Field and threw a pitch so terrible, even Gary Dell'Abate had to laugh at it ... 50 was warming up the bullpen and displayed some pretty decent accuracy. Check out the clip ... sure, he could use some work on his mechanics ... but it's not really that terrible.

Don't quit your day job, 50 Cent. The rapper took to the mound at Citi Field to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before today's New York Mets game—and his errant toss instantly joined the ranks of the worst ceremonial pitches of all time. It wasn't quite Baba-Booey-caliber, Howard Stern Show producer/personality Gary Dell'Abate's infamously bad first pitch at Mets game in 2009 pretty much turning "a Baba-Booey" into a term synonymous with an epic fail after his throw went sharply to his right and dinged an umpire. But for a guy as fit as Fiddy, it was a spectacularly awkward effort. The Southpaw's pitch sailed wide left, or way to the...

In recognition of the job HBO CEO Michael Fuchs had done growing HBO and diversifying its business, he was invited uptown in 1995 to take over Warner Music while still keeping HBO as part of his new, expanded dominion. Assuming Fuchs’ top exec slot at HBO was Jeff Bewkes.
Not long after Fuchs had been given command of HBO in 1984 after the ouster of Frank Biondi, it had been clear that Fuchs’ strengths were not universal. Programming and long-term strategic vision were his fortes. Some of the more mundane and, for Fuchs, onerous tasks, such as kissing up to officers of the major cable MSOs, was something for which the often high-handed Fuchs didn’t have much of an affinity. The solution had been to divvy the company up, putting those non-Fuchsian — but critically important — responsibilities under a newly-created office of President.

Starting tomorrow, you can catch up on the entirety of Suits either at USA's website or via OnDemand. I guess I should try to figure out where this business with the can opener began.
Turner Classic Movies will soon have a showcase for some of Johnny Carson's classic celebrity interviews.
TV Guide asks if The X-Factor's mentors are hurting competitors more than they're helping. Inappropriate costumes, bad song choices and unenthusiastic advice are listed as ways the mentors have turned into an obstacle contestants need to overcome.
Brian Dennehy will appear in the final season of The Big C as Cathy's father. Considering how Cathy has had cancer for three seasons and we're only now meeting him, I expect he'll be as awful as the rest of the Jamison clan has turned out to be.

With Cesar Millan as a guest on "Late Night," Jimmy Fallon knew he had to take advantage of the "Dog Whisperer" while he could. Fallon has a new puppy at home, so he thought he'd get some help from Millan in getting little Gary off on the right track.
Millan had no problem calming the rambunctious pup, proving why his show was such a hit for nine years. With that over, though, there's no slowing down in Millan's future. He has a new special coming to National Geographic Wild called "Cesar Millan: The Real Story."
That special is just one piece of Millan's continuing relationship with NatGeo Wild, as he has a new series getting ready to premiere on the network. This time, with "Leader of the Pack," Millan shifts his focus to the problem of canine abandonment across the globe.

Gary Oldman has revealed how he feared for his career after losing his script for the Christopher Nolan's hotly anticipated Batman movie.
The 54-year-old actor, who plays Commissioner Jim Gordon in The Dark Knight Rises, mislaid the top-secret screenplay in a hotel and was terrified it would be leaked.
Gary told Us talk show host Jimmy Kimmel: "I was in a panic for 20 minutes. I thought my career had ended."
Luckily the script was eventually found under his bed, but Gary explained how the huge presence of online media aided his terror: "There was a paranoia around it as we live in an age with the internet and blogs. I'd be thrown out of showbiz."
Gary also revealed demure The Devil Wears Prada actress Anne Hathaway had really impressed him in her role as Catwoman.
He said: "Not to give anything away but Anne Hathaway, she is a revelation in this film.

What’s that old saying? Every athlete wants to be a movie star, and every movie star wants to be an athlete? This is why you have athletes transitioning into acting once their career is over (or even during their playing days, in some cases), and movie stars making asses out of themselves in “celebrity” all-star games. Well, one person would like to put an end to this. Gary Oldman, actor extraordinaire, and Commissioner Jim Gordon in the Batman films (with the most recent entry, “The “Dark Knight Rises” due next month), recently took time out of his busy schedule to deliver this very special advice to athletes, specifically basketball players, thinking of following in Shaquille O’Neal’s footsteps and getting into acting. Oldman appeared on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live during one of the show’s pre-nba Finals telecast with a heartfelt message. But what am I blabbing on about.

NBC has released a bunch of trailers and clips for a new collection of TV series that they have been developing. We've got stuff from 1600 Penn, Infamous, Save Me, Next Caller, Do No Harm, The New Normal, Guys With Kids, and Go On. It will be interesting to what shows make it and what shows end up on the chopping block. Check out the trailers and clips and let us know which ones look good to you!
1600 Penn:
“1600 Penn” — The Gilchrists are just the average American family dealing with all the everyday issues – like a grown kid who’s forced to move back home, children who are smarter than their teachers and a stepmom (Jenna Elfman, “Dharma and Greg”) desperately trying to win over the kids. They’re loving, fun and a little crazy. In other words, just like everybody else. With one exception: they live in a very special house.

Chicago – NBC revealed their Fall schedule today and there were multiple surprises including comedies moving to Tuesday and Friday nights (we were wondering where all of the sitcoms would go) and a Fall cycle of the hit singing show “The Voice.” Other major news is that “Smash” is being held for mid-season. The network also revealed that six new shows — two dramas, four comedies — will premiere in the Fall.
The big news for comedy fans is that Thursdays have been tinkered with again as the final season of “30 Rock” will kick off the night at 7pm Cst, followed by “Up All Night,” “The Office,” and “Parks and Recreation.” In the 9pm Cst timeslot that was the kiss of death last season with “Prime Suspect,” “The Firm,” and “Awake,” the network has given up and will air the low-rated but inexpensive “Rock Center with Brian Williams.”

Bluegrass and banjo pioneer Earl Scruggs has passed away at the age of 88, says his son Gary. Scruggs died of natural causes Wednesday morning (March 28) at a Nashville, Tenn. hospital.
Scruggs is credited with bringing the banjo from a rhythm section instrument to a lead instrument by his three-finger approach to picking, rather than the clawhammer style. His way of playing became known as the "Scruggs picking style" that helped popularize the banjo across many different kinds of music.
He made his debut with Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys in the 1940s at the Grand Ole Opry and later teamed with Lester Flatt. They were best known for "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" and "The Ballad of Jed Clampett" from "The Beverly Hillbillies."
Scruggs and Flatt were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1985, but he hadn't stopped playing in recent years. Just 10 years ago he released "Earl Scruggs and Friends,...

On Saturday, Jan. 21, lucky attendees of Sf Sketchfest got to witness an event a decade in the making: A staged recreation of the cult classic "Wet Hot American Summer" by (most of) the original cast at the Marines’ Memorial Theatre in San Francisco, CA.
The 2001 summer camp movie parody, made primarily by members of comedy troupe The State on a shoestring budget, was a box office failure upon its theatrical release. But the following decade has been kind to "Wet Hot." Today, the movie has become a sort of comedy calling card, and telling someone that you're a fan of "Wet Hot American Summer" immediately sends a message about your sense of humor: Straight faced and silly simultaneously, hyper self-aware and more than a little ironic.

Valiant Entertainment has announced the creative team behind the highly-anticipated relaunch of one of the company’s most successful licenses, X-o Manowar. The new ongoing series will include writers Robert Venditti (The Surrogates) and Gary Nord (Conan) who will be tasked with re-introducing the popular 90s series to audiences when the book arrives on store shelves in May.
Speaking with Cbr, writer Robert Venditti and Valiant Editor Warren Simons talked about the company’s return to the license and what the future holds for other classing Valiant titles.
The relaunch of “X-o Manowar” is a big push for Valiant in 2012. What was the impetus to bring the character and the title back for as your first series?
Warren Simons: When I came to Valiant, I took a look at all the characters that we had — which are the best high-concept driving characters, what are the best stories, what are...

Jason Reitman's "Young Adult" is to romantic comedies what Four Loko is to Diet Coke -- a way rougher ride than what you're used to. The director reteams with his Academy Award-winning "Juno" screenwriter Diablo Cody to bring you Mavis Gary, a character of unrelenting sociopathic narcissism.
Mavis, portrayed by Charlize Theron with ferocious conviction, is a former high school ice queen who returns to her hometown to win back her teenage sweetheart Buddy (Patrick Wilson), despite his being happily married with child. The great Patton Oswalt costars, and both he and Theron are earning advance raves and Oscar buzz.
1. Adorable. "If you look at the inscription it reads 'For Buddy Slade, whose family I would like to destroy.'"
2. Checking In. This hotel desk clerk is really earning her $8.50 an hour.
3. Looking for a Dress. "She made everyone feel comfortable" ... something that will not be on Mavis Gary's tombstone.

With the release of "The Muppets" last weekend, Jason Segel's dream came true. He revived the great puppet franchise he has loved since childhood, and did it with great success, too, with the film already taking in over $30 million at the box office. Unfortunately, the Muppets giveth and they taketh: for all the professional joy, they're kind of hurting his love life.
Segel, appearing on "Conan" on Monday night, spoke about all the first dates -- but not second dates -- thanks to his house filled with puppets. That includes the Gary puppet made to look like Segel -- though it looks more like old Muppet game show host, Guy Smiley -- who is remote controlled and thus able to be very, very creepy upon command. Especially if he's under Andy Richter's command. Well, at least he can use the carpool lane, right?

In A Better World (Sony) Winner of last year’s Best Foreign Film Oscar, this Danish export looks at two fractured families and the effect that the adult world dysfunction has on their two sons, who form an immediate and potentially deadly bond. Director Susanne Bier delivers another powerful work that maintains its drive during the films’ first 2/3, then falters somewhat during the last act. Still, well-worth seeing, and beautifully made. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Bonuses: Deleted scenes; Commentary by Bier and editor Pernille Bech Christensen; Interview with Bier. Widescreen. Dolby and DTS-hd 5.1 surround.
X-men First Class (20th Century Fox) “Origins” film set in the early 1960s, traces the beginnings of Magento and Professor X (played ably here by Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy), and how the once-close friends and colleagues became bitter enemies. First half is slam-bang entertainment at its stylish best,...

Paramount Pictures contacted show producer Gary Dell'Abate weeks ago but Stern says the disc must have been copied before it reached him....

The fifth game of the NBA finals is on tonight and if you've been following along at all, you'll know that the series is tied up at 2-2. The games I've seen so far (the first three, I missed the last one because of work and will be missing tonight's game for the same reason) have been back and forth the whole time and incredibly exciting. Except I don't really want exciting, because I'd just like the Heat to win. Frankly, it's probably a little better for my sanity that I won't be able to get any information on the game other than what the little Espn app on my phone is able to tell me. Anyone who's not watching basketball tonight, I hope you're either big "So You Think You Can Dance" fans or have some nice DVDs to get through because otherwise you're Sol. Here's Thursday night's TV:...

As I sit here with my cup of tea and sort through the interwebs to start my day, I notice that it's apparently snowing in large sections of the country today. Yeah, it's all pretty and novel now, but in a few weeks when it's all grey slush on the side of the road that freezes overnight to try and make you slip (yes, snow has evil intentions, just trust me here) you won't be so chipper about it. Me? I'm just annoyed that it's a bit too chilly to wear flip flops in North Cuba today. Here's your Monday night TV:
8:00pm: "90210" on The CW
"American Country Awards" on Fox. Wait, didn't the Cmt awards air a couple weeks ago on ABC? How many Country music oriented awards shows are there?
"How I Met Your Mother" on CBS
"Little People, Big World" on Tlc
"The Sing-Off" on NBC.

It was a good night for 'The Howard Stern Show' on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (weeknights, 12Am Et on ABC). Previously, Gary Dell'Abate (a.k.a., "Baba Booey" -- the show's producer and unofficial mascot) played a game of catch with Kimmel. And it went badly. How badly? Bad enough that Mr. Booey hit an audience member in the head with a baseball.
That wasn't the worst part. Baba Booey was already trying to recover from one of the greatest televised baseball disasters ever. The producer threw the ceremonial first pitch at a Mets game -- and missed home plate by about fifteen feet.
Clearly, the 'Howard Stern' cast needed a baseball "do-over." So Howard's co-host Robin Quivers tried to see if she could put things right. But would she end up "throwing like a girl," so to speak?

Gary Dell'Abate went on " Kimmel " last night -- and finally got a chance to make up for that famously terrible first pitch he threw at a Mets game last year ... instead, he beaned an audience member in the head. Juuuuuuuuuuuuuuust a bit outside. Read more...

Gary Dell'Abate is a native New Yorker, and a lifelong New York Mets fan. And Gary got the chance of a lifetime ... twice. Well -- make that three times, including his appearance on tonight's 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (weeknights, 12Am Et on ABC).
Mr. Dell'Abate -- better known as "Baba Booey" to fans of the Howard Stern radio show -- threw out a first pitch at a Mets game about four years ago, and that went just fine. So his lifelong dream was fulfilled! Maybe just stop right there, then! It's probably better not to tempt fate. Because "Baba Booey" then threw out another first pitch last year -- and it was one of the worst moments in televised baseball history.

Listen, I'm just having one of those weeks, the kind that seems to drag on forever and sap the will to live out of you slowly. And as it's now Thursday and the end of the week is in sight (although not close enough in sight since I've already got a work thing on Friday night) I'm just not quite feeling particularly creative tonight. So I invite all of you to talk amongst yourselves below. Keep it civil, I'll be checking, and I'll see you Sunday when I'm hopefully in more creative spirits. Here's your Thursday night TV:
7:30pm: "Thursday Night College Football: Pittsburgh at Connecticut"
8:00pm: "The Big Bang Theory" on CBS
"Bones" on Fox
"Community" on NBC
"The This Old House Hour" on PBS
"Thursday Night Football: Baltimore Ravens at Atlanta Falcons" on NFL Network. Fourth season premiere. Because the one thing we're missing from TV...
