“Big Brother” icons are coming back to compete for a $100,000 grand prize… and to save the holidays, of course.

Here’s the official synopsis: “This ultimate holiday showdown brings together legendary former players, including previous winners and America’s Favorite Players. The holiday special filled with the most challenging and unpredictable holiday-themed competitions will pit Bb legends against each other as they face a new game with an all-new set of rules.”
Unlike “Big Brother,” this is strictly about the competitions and the cast will not be living inside the house. It will take place over two weeks with six “action-packed holiday-themed episodes.” Each episode with feature three competitions, ending in “Santa’s Showdown,” during which...

“Big Brother” is getting a holiday spin-off, “Big Brother Reindeer Games,” CBS announced during the Season 24 live finale on Thursday.
The spin-off, which will feature “icons” of the game returning for Christmas-themed competitions, launches Dec. 11 on CBS with a two-hour premiere.
The announcement came thanks to past contestants Frankie Grande, Britney Haynen and Danielle Reyes, who “break in” to the Big Brother House to close the Bb multiverse they’d inadvertently launched earlier in the season.
Houseguests will be announced at a later date, but CBS promises that one player from Season 24 will take part.
Derek Xiao and Tiffany Mitchell of Season 23 and Jordan Lloyd of Season 11 and 13 will serve as “Santa’s Elves,” guiding the “Reindeer Games” players through holiday-themed challenges.
Each episode features three competitions culminating in “Santa’s Showdown,” which determines which player goes home at the end of that episode. Only four contestants will make it...

One week after “Big Brother” Season 25 premiered, a controversy has hit the house. On Tuesday night, houseguest Luke Valentine casually dropped the N-word in a conversation captured on the Paramount+ live feed — and now, he has been removed.
“Luke violated the ‘Big Brother’ code of conduct and there is zero tolerance in the house for using a racial slur. He has been removed from the house,” CBS told Variety. “His departure will be addressed in Thursday night’s show.”
During a conversation with fellow contestants Jared Fields, Cory Wurtenberger and Hisam Goueli, Valentine was heard casually saying the slur at the end of a statement. He then caught himself, covered his mouth and laughed. He tried to correct his comment with the word “dude.” The moment can be seen here.
Many “Big Brother” viewers took to social media after seeing the moment and called for Valentine’s instant removal from the season.

Julie Chen Moonves starts our interview with a prayer.
“Heavenly Father, thank you for this beautiful day, and thank you for providing peace and patience,” she begins, after asking if I’d like to contribute or simply listen.
I choose the latter and admit that this is a first in the decade I’ve been a journalist.
Faith has become an important part of Chen Moonves’ life, especially in the past five years — following the ousting of husband Leslie Moonves, the former CBS Corp. CEO who disappeared from the limelight after he was fired over sexual misconduct allegations in 2018. While Chen Moonves chose to leave “The Talk” in the wake of her husband’s exit from CBS, she remained at the forefront of one of the network’s biggest shows, “Big Brother,” which premieres its 25th season on Aug. 2.
Now, she and her husband watch the reality show together, along with their 13-year-old son.

Fox has ordered a second season of Crime Scene Kitchen, a baking competition series hosted by Joel McHale.
The show is a culinary guessing game in which bakers must decode what type of dessert was made, when all that’s left are the crumbs, flour trails and a few clues. They must then recreate the recipe for the judges, who will determine how closely it matches the missing dessert.
The show featured Chef Curtis Stone and cake artist Yolanda Gampp as judges.
“Crime Scene Kitchen is unlike any cooking show out there,” said Fox’s Head of Reality Rob Wade before the show’s debut last May. “It’s a truly original format with amazing baking creations, a brilliant play-along guessing game for the whole family, and Joel at the center of it all bringing hilarity at every turn. The final four teams will battle for the best-baking-detective trophy on Wednesday’s Season 1 finale of “Crime Scene Kitchen,” but first they’ll have to survive the dessert round.
In a new exclusive clip from the episode, airing Wednesday at 9/8c on Fox, the bakers reveal the brutal new twist — one team will be eliminated after the first challenge of the night. After besting eight other teams throughout the baking competition’s first season, the four sets of finalists will have to impress the judges with their chocolate napoleons if they want a shot at the final challenge and the $100,000 prize.
Of course, this being “Crime Scene Kitchen,” there is no guarantee that the dessert-round assignment actually was chocolate napoleons, but all four teams — including Lorie and Jason, Emma and Leslie, Thomas and Cathy and Luis and Natalie — appear to have gone in the same direction based on the clues they picked up.

“The Masked Singer’s” Ken Jeong is the guest judge on this week’s “Crime Scene Kitchen,” and judging by TheWrap’s new exclusive clip from the Wednesday episode, he’ll be stealing some attention from his former “Community” co-star Joel McHale.
Erinn, in particular, seems especially distracted by “Masked Singer” judge Jeong’s presence, much to the dismay of McHale and her teammate Amanda. “If anything goes wrong, I’m blaming her,” Amanda warns as Erinn and Jeong hug it out.
Hey, after Joel’s many visits over to Ken’s “Masked Singer” home over the past few years, it’s only fair that Ken gets a chance to step over onto Joel’s sweet new gig on an equally mysterious (but so much more delicious) Fox competition, right? Right!
Of course, we don’t know if Joel was anticipating just how much of his thunder Ken would be stealing when he stopped by.

For the second year in a row, “Big Brother” will kick off with a live move-in, so expect some unexpected snafus possibly, like last year’s Have-Not Room not opening. But unlike last year, it will also immediately split the houseguests into teams.
The all-new cast of 16 — aka no returning players — will enter the house live in groups of four during the 90-minute “Big Brother 23” premiere on Wednesday, July 7 at 8/7c, after which they will learn they will be playing in teams and will compete in the first competition live to determine them.

“Crime Scene Kitchen,” a new baking competition series hosted by comedian, actor and author Joel McHale and judged by chef Curtis Stone and cake artist Yolanda Gampp, will premiere May 26 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
The network describes “Crime Scene Kitchen” as a “culinary guessing game,” in which bakers must decode what type of dessert they will be tasked with making. This will be done by them sifting through a few “elusive clues” and tasting the crumbs. Then, they will attempt to recreate the dessert for the celebrity judges, Stone and Gampp, who will determine how close they got to matching the dishes, as well as how good their item tastes.
“I’m deeply excited to be partnering with Fox and Fly on the Wall to host ‘Crime Scene Kitchen,” said McHale, who has mostly recently worked with Fox as a guest panelist on “The Masked Singer” but has hosted...

In the pre-Sept. 11 world, cell phones still had buttons, only featured one game and were actually used to make calls; Netflix was still known as a DVD-by-mail rental company, and the idea that someone was listening to your every word seemed to be the subject of fiction because Alexa had yet to be invented.
But the latter certainly made for compelling television, as was evidenced when “Big Brother” launched July 5, 2000, on CBS. It was only seven months into the new millennium, but television was about to be changed forever.
The U.S. version of “Big Brother” was an unscripted competition series that saw 10 strangers living in a “house” on a soundstage in Los Angeles, competing for half a million dollars. With them were dozens of cameras and microphones so that everything the houseguests said and did, even in private with each other,...

“Big Brother” is hoping to still air this summer, but first, a twist: Season 22 may be an all-stars outing.
CBS is reportedly in talks with former players, including past winners, to join its second all-star season to mark the 20th anniversary of the hit series, “Us Weekly” reports. Before you get too excited, some alums have already declined the offer for various reasons, with concerns over the coronavirus pandemic being one of them, according to the magazine.
Last month, CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl was optimistic that “Big Brother” and “Love Island” will be make it to air sometime this summer. “The key difference on those shows is the turnaround time is quick,” Kahl told “The Hollywood Reporter.” “‘Big Brother’ airs live shows every week. ‘Love Island’ is essentially a one-day turnaround. If we can get into production, and we certainly anticipate that, we anticipate having those shows on this summer.

Big Brother and Love Island were two of the big-ticket reality shows that have been put into a holding pattern as a result of the Covid-19 production shutdown.
However, CBS is confident that both non-scripted formats will air this summer, albeit slight later than originally planned.
“With Love Island and Big Brother, we still hope to have on the air this summer, it could be a little later than usual but we’re still optimistic about getting those on,” CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl told Deadline. “Those shows turn around pretty quickly, Big Brother has live shows every week and Love Island literally airs the night after it shoots, those shows do not have long post processes.”
Big Brother generally starts airing at the end of June. The show, which is hosted by Julie Chen, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, having launched on July 5, 2000, making it the second...

If you’re looking forward to a third season of “Celebrity Big Brother” in the coming weeks, you’re about to be sorely disappointed. CBS has confirmed to Gold Derby there are “no official plans” for Season 3 of the popular celebrity spinoff series. The good news? Season 22 of the main reality TV show has been ordered and will likely debut in early summer, as per tradition. And yes, Julie Chen-Moonves will be back as host after recently signing a new contract with CBS.

The team behind CBS format Million Dollar Mile hope that tweaks and international ratings success for the LeBron James-exec produced competition challenge can help give the show another life in the U.S.
The ten-episode series, which is produced by James and Maverick Carter’s Springhill Entertainment, Big Brother producer Fly on the Wall Entertainment and Warner Horizon Unscripted & Alternative Television, has been adapted in France and Germany with a number of small changes designed to give a local flavor.
In Germany, the series has aired as a four-part run of 120-minute episodes on Pro7, while the format, set in the famous Stade De France, airs later this month on France 2.
The format sees contestants have the chance to win a major cash prize every time they run the Million Dollar Mile. Standing in their way is the most challenging course ever designed and a group of elite athletes...

CBS has renewed its longrunning reality competition series “Big Brother” for a 22nd season. Julie Chen Moonves will return as host.
The series will return in its usual summer time slot next year. It’s current 21st season will wrap up on Sept. 25, in the middle of CBS’ fall premiere week.
Moonves’ future with CBS had been in doubt shortly after her husband, Leslie Moonves, resigned as CBS Corp’s CEO last fall following multiple accusations of sexual misconduct. She left CBS’ daytime talk show “The Talk” a week after Moonves stepped down, but has continued to host “Big Brother” since — and going by her “Julie Chen Moonves” in her signoff (she had previously only gone by Julie Chen).

Kemi Fakunle is back home catching up on all the “Big Brother 21,” um, shenanigans she wasn’t privy to in the house, and like Frances McDormand, she’s got some things to say.
On Saturday, Kemi tweeted a statement thanking fans for their support while denouncing the nasty behavior she has since learned was occurring inside the house, saying she is “extremely disappointed and disgusted.”
“The degrading and threatening comments made by some houseguests and laughed at by others are outrageous and hard to see,” she wrote. “I am saddened to be associated with such a negative display of human character and am horrified that this is now a part of my life story.”
