Christian Oliver, best known to TV audiences for playing Brian Keller on NBC’s Saved by the Bell: The New Class, was killed in a plane crash on Thursday. He was 51 years old. Oliver’s two young daughters — 10-year-old Madita and 12-year-old Annik — and a pilot, Robert Sachs, also died in the crash.
The single-jet engine plane hit the water while traveling from St. Lucia from the island of Bequia in the Caribbean. The plane experienced “unexplained issues” shortly after takeoff, and an exact cause of the malfunction has not yet been determined.

Actor Mark-Paul Gosselaar was a teen heartthrob on the NBC sitcom Saved by the Bell. While it’s been more than a few years since Gosselaar’s day on the show, the character still follows him around today. In recent years, Gosselaar has spoken out about some of the regrets he still harbors regarding some of the show’s more questionable scenes.
Despite his reservations, Gosselaar should show himself a little grace, as should his fans, given that he was just 15 years old when the first episode of Saved by the Bell aired. Here’s a look at the ’90s teen sitcom and Gosselaar’s love-hate relationship with some of the show’s storylines.

Stars: Kris Reilly, Dennis Marin, Dennis Haskins, Jessika Johnson, Kaiti Wallen, Harley Wallen, Tom Sizemore | Written and Directed by Harley Wallen
Harley Wallen’s film Abstruse has been on the festival circuit for a number of years and has racked up quite the list of awards. Of course, as we all know, festival awards don’t always mean much when it comes to actual entertainment value. Having liked Wallen’s film Eternal Code but being less impressed with Betrayed I was curious to see how this one played out.
Justin (Kris Reilly) and Daniel (Dennis Marin) are a pair of scumbags who get off on doing loads of coke, abusing call girls and just generally being assholes. The fact that Justin’s father Senator Stevens (Dennis Haskins) is a very influential figure helps keep them out of trouble. Deciding that they need a job they decide to enter the porn business.

Dustin Diamond, the actor best known as Samuel “Screech” Powers on “Saved by the Bell,” has died. He was 44.
Diamond passed away on Monday “due to carcinoma,” his reps said in a statement shared with TheWrap.
“He was diagnosed with this brutal, relentless form of malignant cancer only three weeks ago,” the statement read. “In that time, it managed to spread rapidly throughout his system; the only mercy it exhibited was its sharp and swift execution.”
Diamond “did not suffer,” his reps said.
“We are aware that Dustin is not considered reputable by most. He’s had a history of mishaps, of unfortunate events,” the statement continued. “We want the public to understand that he was not intentionally malevolent. He — much like the rest of those who act out and behave poorly — had undergone a great deal of turmoil and heartache. His actions, though rebuke-able, stemmed from loss and the...

“At this time we can confirm that Dustin does have cancer,” the statement reads. “Dustin will disclose more information once it is available and a plan moving forward is made.”
A representative for the actor elaborated in a statement to EW, saying Diamond is currently feeling “fine” despite the “serious” diagnosis. “He’s undergoing chemo so he will be there at least another week and then we will figure out when he gets to come home,” the spokesperson said. “By next week, we’ll have a much better understanding of the severity of his condition and what treatments he will need so that he’s comfortable.”

Former “Saved By the Bell” star Dustin Diamond has been hospitalized with an as-yet undiagnosed illness, TheWrap has confirmed.
TMZ first reported the news on Tuesday that Diamond was hospitalized in Florida over the weekend “after feeling pain all over his body and a general sense of unease.” Representatives for the actor later told E! News that doctors believe a cancer diagnosis is “likely,” but tests are still being conducted to determine the cause.
A spokesperson for the actor confirmed to TheWrap that Diamond has been hospitalized but was unable to provide any update on his condition.

Time out! Who are these people?
No, they’re not the stars of Peacock’s Saved by the Bell revival (premiering Wednesday, Nov. 25). And no, they’re most certainly not part of the original series cast. The students seen above were part of a different class — or rather, Saved by the Bell: The New Class, a mostly forgotten spinoff featuring Mr. Belding (Dennis Haskins) and Screech (Dustin Diamond) that ran for — get this — seven seasons, between 1993 and 2000.

Peacock’s “Saved by the Bell” revival finally has a premiere date, so save this note in your trapper keepers: The new version of the ’90s cult classic premieres on NBCUniversal’s streaming service Nov. 25 — just in time for Thanksgiving.
To celebrate the announcement, Peacock put together a fun teaser with a literal peacock walking the halls of (we assume) Bayside High. Watch it at the top of the page right now.
In the show, which stars original series mainstays Elizabeth Berkley Lauren and Mario Lopez reprising their roles of Jessie Spano and A.C. Slater, California Governor Zack Morris gets into hot water for closing too many underfunded high schools and proposes they send the affected students to the most well-funded schools in the state — including Bayside High. A new trailer for Peacock’s Saved by the Bell revival landed earlier this week. It provides a broader look at the Bayside universe circa 2020, where A.C. Slater (Mario Lopez) is the gym teacher, Jessie Spano (Elizabeth Berkley) is the mother of the football team captain, Max (Ed Alonzo) is still running everyone’s favorite diner, and a whole new generation of kids are causing trouble. It doesn’t show Gov. Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) or California First Lady Kelly Kapowski (Tiffani Amber Thiessen), but they will be on...

We’re so excited for the “Saved by the Bell” revival and Peacock’s new teaser for the show, which includes Elizabeth Berkley’s Jessie Spano explaining how “exciting” caffeine pills are, has made it so we just can’t hide it.
In the video, which the NBCUniversal-owned streaming service dropped during the show’s virtual summer Ctam panel Monday, Zack Morris’ son, Mac (played by Mitchell Hoog) is offering caffeine pills to fellow Bayside High student Daisy (Haskiri Velazquez) to help “increase” her productivity.
That’s when Jessie, who is now the guidance counselor at her alma mater, jumps over to lecture them about the dangers of caffeine pills, poking fun at one of the most memorable episodes of the original series, in which Jessie gets “addicted” to caffeine pills.

Saved by the Bell may be returning, but one notable cast member has been left out of the new series.
Lark Voorhies, who played Lisa Turtle on the original series, is opening up about her thoughts on the revival.
“I have to admit I did feel a bit slighted and hurt when I was not invited to be part of the Saved by the Bell reunion as well as other cast members events, yet of course, I also realized that having this puzzling disorder may have played a major part in that factual decision,” Voorhies tells Dr. Oz in a clip of the Wednesday, February 19, episode of The Dr. Oz Show.
“With that in mind, I am truly thankful for having had the chance to work on a show that has been so successful.”
The actress went on to say that she felt multiple emotions when she sees photos of her former costars together.

If you were around in the late 80s and early 90s, you will have heard of ‘Saved by the Bell’. This popular American sitcom, which aired on NBC between 1989 and 1993, was a rehash of ‘Good Morning, Miss Bliss’, a Disney Channel series. It was about a group of friends at high school and focused on comedic situations. However, ‘Saved by the Bell’ also touched on many serious topical issues. The series was created by Sam Bobrick, and it starred Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lope, Dustin Diamond, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Elizabeth Berkley, Lark Voorhies, Ed Alonzo, and Dennis Haskins. If you were anything like me as a kid, you probably spent every Saturday morning — and years of syndication — watching Saved By The Bell. The series had zero continuity, some troubling underlying themes (watch the hilarious YouTube series Zack Morris is Trash), and the worst weird, fake, ‘90s muzak in the world, but we loved it! And if they were to do a reunion, or especially a reboot, fans would go crazy!
So this news is pretty exciting, but the actors are keeping us in check too, so keep that in mind. At the recent Fan-Expo Canada, Saved By The Bell stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, and Elizabeth Berkley were in attendance and were asked by a fan if there was anything Saved By The Bell in the works. The stars responded:
Lopez: “Obviously we couldn’t be in high school still, so you’d have to be creative with the premise.

Exclusive: Truly Tasteless Jokes, a series of slim paperbacks that became a publishing juggernaut in the 1980s, is the subject of a new documentary feature just acquired by Virgil Films.
Tasteless, directed by Jeff Cerulli and Matt Ritter, traces the history of not only the books themselves but the way the material — much of it crude and controversial — has aged over the decades. The author of the books, Ashton Applewhite (who used the pen name Blanche Knott), later became a feminist and activist. She conceived of the original volume while making $8,500 a year as an entry-level employee in book publishing.
In a 2011 reminiscence she wrote for Harper’s magazine, titled “Being Blanche,” Applewhite reprised many of the jokes that filled the books, the first of which was the best-selling mass-market title of 1983. The punchlines started fairly PG-rated — “What’s the difference between garbage and a girl from New Jersey? Garbage...

Marketing machines use pop culture-driven immersive experiences to fuel the hype of studios big-time titles. Warner Bros. has been on top of its game with a frightening It house as well as an Easter egg-filled maze for Ready Player One. When the cult hit Twin Peaks was revived by Showtime last year, Los Angeles became the home of the Roadhouse, the popular bar in the series. During SXSW, HBO set up a fully operating Westworld complete with a saloon and in-character “hosts” that reset every couple of hours.
But all of these experiences were created with the studios involved. With Saved by the Max, an uncanny, nostalgic replica of the high school hangout in the popular ’90s teen series Saved by the Bell, NBC initially wasn’t involved. It was all done by fans of Zack Morris and the gang.
