Around 10:20 p.m. on Saturday night, a shadowy group of figures walked onto the Farm Aid stage at the Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana. This was supposed to be the moment where Wille Nelson wrapped up the night, but there was no sign of the Red Headed Stranger or his band. Instead, another act was plugging in instruments on the darkened stage. There was no announcement of any kind, and the large screens on both sides of the stage went completely blank for the first time all day.

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck announced his retirement on Saturday, shocking the NFL as it came just two weeks before the season.
Luck's decision, following the latest in a litany of injuries in his seven-year career, also sparked a remembrance from Parks and Recreation co-creator Mike Schur. Luck guest-starred on a pair of episodes of the Indiana-set NBC comedy in 2013, including one in which the guys from the show hang with Luck, then-Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne and owner Jim Irsay (a real-life friend of Parks and Rec star Rob Lowe) during Andy's (Chris Pratt) bachelor party.

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay is the type of billionaire who will quote long passages from Pink Floyd’s The Wall to you when you answer the phone. And even if you don’t pick up, he’ll still leave a voicemail parroting the monumental double-album’s whole “collect call to Mrs. Floyd from Mr. Floyd” routine. He’s a superfan who once stormed the front of the crowd at Chicago’s Soldier Field to get closer to the band in 1977, when they played their Animals and Wish You Were Here albums in full.

Irsay tweeted his response to Lowe, saying "sources" say Lowe will star in an "epic remake" of a porn movie.
The actor lit up social media Wednesday when he tweeted that Peyton Manning was done. Lowe said he'd heard from "my people" that the Indianapolis Colts quarterback would retire later in the day.
No official word yet from Manning, the 35-year-old star who missed this season with a neck injury. But Espn's Chris Mortensen tweeted that Manning's father, Archie, laughed at Lowe's report and said it wasn't true.
Lowe currently is on the NBC hit "Parks and Recreation" that's set in Indiana. He's also friends with Colts owner Jim Irsay – Lowe was the first person Irsay followed on Twitter.

To paraphrase Rob Lowe's "Parks and Recreation" character, this is lit'rally the weirdest story we've heard today.
Lowe unleashed a social-media firestorm -- or at least a lot of people saying "Wha ...?" -- Wednesday afternoon (Jan. 18) when he tweeted the following: "Hearing my fave, #18 Peyton Manning will not return to #NFL. Wow. #Colts."
Manning missed all of the 2011 NFL season while he was rehabilitating from a neck injury. Without him, the Indianapolis Colts had their first losing season since 2001, finishing 2-14. The dismal record has led to the firing of the team's vice chairman, general manager and head coach -- but it also put them in position to choose Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the first pick in this year's draft.
So, how would Rob Lowe know anything at all about Manning's plans? He's friends with Colts owner Jim Irsay, so it's conceivable that he would have some knowledge of the situation.

Rob Lowe has been many things during his acting career. He has been a heartthrob, a pariah, a villain in Wayne's World and then a leading man once again. He may be adding NFL reporter to his resume.
On Wednesday afternoon, the star of television shows such as "Parks and Recreation" and "The West Wing" tweeted that his "people" were telling him that Peyton Manning is set to retire from the NFL.
In response to Lowe's tweets, NFL Network analyst Rich Eisen responded.
But Eisen was far from the only person on Twitter to notice Lowe's unexpected piece of NFL personnel news. Here are some of the best reactions.
Although the source of this rumor is unexpected, such a tweet by a veteran NFL reporter such as Adam Schefter or Jay Glazer wouldn't have seemed entirely out of the blue. After all, Manning missed the entire 2011 NFL season due to...

Peyton Manning had surgery on on May 23 for an injury to his neck, but the procedure did not acheive the desired result. He underwent neck surgery again on Sept. 8 for the third time in 19 months. He has missed all three games so far this season. This type of surgery can require a recovery period of four months or longer, according to Espn.
Although Indiana Colts owner Jim Irsay said Peyton Manning may not return this season, he clarified later on Monday that there is an “outside chance of return” in December. However, it is most likely that Manning will not return until the 2012 season. Peyton Manning still remains on...

hollywoodnews.com: Rob Lowe knew how Taylor Lautner felt when hoardes of screaming young girls accosted their shared box at the Indianapolis Colts game. Both actors had been personally invited by team owner Jim Irsay to watch a playoffs game.
But former teen heartthrob Lowe got more than he bargained for by sitting next to current teen heartthrob Lautner. Per his comments to the UK Telegraph, the scene brought back memories for former Brat Pack star Lowe, who remembers being on the receiving end of the same frenzied treatment.
“They were coming up to the box and literally staring at him. Some were screaming. Others took his picture…It actually made me really emotional, seeing him struggle with it. He’s such a lovely kid; he’s even younger than I was,” Lowe mused.
“[The fame] has nothing to do with you,” the middle aged star observed, some thirty...
