We’re getting the first look at Nicole Kang (Dr. Mary Hamilton) as Poison Ivy in the CW’s Batwoman. See the image below.
After being infected by a missing “Bat Trophy” – a mysterious thorn – Mary’s journey culminates next week in the Nov. 24 midseason finale “Double Trouble” episode as she fully transforms into the supervillain.
In the Nov. 17 episode we learned that Mary had been infected by one of Pam Isley’s vines, and now “the selfless and caring Mary Hamilton (Kang) we’ve come to know and love is taking a backseat to a pernicious and virulent version of herself. “Batwoman” Season 2 finale Sunday set up a lot of stuff for Season 3 — including a new hero. Luke Fox has fulfilled his comic book destiny of becoming Batwing. And for actor Camrus Johnson, that amazing suit has been a long time coming.
In fact, Batwing has been something to look forward to since he signed onto “Batwoman.” It was one of the first things he asked showrunner Caroline Dries about, and she was just as eager as he was. Originally, audiences were supposed to get a small tease of Batwing’s suit in the Season 1 finale, but then Covid happened, cutting the season short by two episodes, and the show found itself switching lead actresses, which changed up the story plans. Still, the goal was always to get Batwing on screen, and Johnson is ecstatic to finally suit up.

The CW and Warner Bros. TV dropped first-look photos of “Batwoman” star Camrus Johnson suited as Batwing.
Johnson has played the character of Luke Fox on the DC series since it began. As Batwing, he will serve as Batwoman’s (Javicia Leslie) crime-fighting counterpart as they work to clean up the mess created in the Season 2 finale. But before he can fully embrace the awesome and powerful nature of his supersuit, he must first overcome his own personal demons.
“I’ve been looking forward to seeing Batwing since we decided to make Luke Fox a fundamental part of our Bat Team way back in the pilot development stages,” said series showrunner Caroline Dries. “I can speak for Cam when I say, ‘So has he!’ But this character couldn’t come out of nowhere. When “Batwoman” costume designer Maya Mani saw Alain Resnais’s 1961 film “The Last Year at Marienbad,” a movie that famously features dresses designed by Coco Chanel, she left wondering what all the fuss was about.
“What was I thinking?” Mani says during the Gold Derby Meet the Experts: Costume Designers panel. “And my friend said, ‘If you think you’re so good, why don’t you try it?’ Being young and not very smart in that case, I was like fine.” Mani soon began working on a low-budget movie for seven days a week and says she was never happier. So that’s how she began her costume design career. “That and I inflicted designs on my dog,” she jokes.
Mani was one of six talented costume designers to participate in the roundtable discussion, including Jennifer Moeller (“Dickinson”), Analucia McGorty (“Pose”), sisters Rita McGhee and Alita Bailey (“P-Valley”) and Jacqueline Demeterio...

A new Batwoman picked up the cape and cowl in Season 2 of The CW series “Batwoman.” The show shifted its narrative focus to Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie), an ex-convict who takes over the Batwoman mantle from Kate Kane (Ruby Rose) as a way to protect Gotham City and avenge her mother’s death.
With that change came a new opportunity for the show itself and especially costume designer Maya Mani. As the longtime Arrowverse fixture tells Gold Derby during the Meet the Experts: Costume Design panel, creating a new Batwoman costume with the show’s in star in mind was paramount to the process. Watch the exclusive video interview above.
“Javicia Leslie is obviously a very different actress, she brings a new perspective to the role,” Mani says. “A different physicality. She was a track runner, she was in the Army — in real life, not her character. So I wanted...

With Batwoman Season 2's premiere date fast approaching, The CW is giving us a bigger look at our new lead than ever before.
The network dropped a new teaser Thursday, and it shows Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder, Gotham's newest protector suiting up to take on the villains.
In the clip, Wilder is using Kate Kane's (Ruby Rose) costume, but we know that Leslie's new character will get her own costume in due course.
“I love the fact that Ryan is becoming her own Batwoman — it’s her style, her swag, and her moment,” Leslie said in a statement when stills of Ryan's costume came to light.
“I felt it was important that viewers could tell by the silhouette that Batwoman was a Black girl. With the form-fitting suit and beautiful Afro, we definitely nailed it!”
“Ryan’s journey starts from a place of ‘What can this Batsuit do for me?...

The new Batwoman is coming to The CW in 2021. We got our first early look at Ryan Wilder the character last week when DC Comics dropped a preview of the upcoming Batgirl #50 special issue, in which Ryan will make her first appearance, but, today, we got our first proper look at Ryan as our live-action, on-screen Batwoman, set to appear in Batwoman Season 2.
Check it out…
“Ryan’s journey starts from a place of ‘What can this Batsuit do for me?’” said showrunner Caroline Dries of the new look. “But it’s not long before she realizes the power of its symbol and what it can do for everyone else in Gotham City. As Ryan embraces everything that makes her special, she adjusts the suit to fit her physically and figuratively. This meant creating a new body design and new cowl that was undeniably a statement that screamed ‘powerful.’”

The God Friended Me actress is taking over as the new lead of the DC TV series following Ruby Rose leaving the role of Kate Kane behind. In her place, Leslie will play Ryan Wilder, a streetwise young woman who inherits the cape and cowl, and she’s going to be making a few changes to the Bat-wardrobe.

The CW has released two first-look images for the “Batwoman” suit redesign based around actress Javicia Leslie’s character, Ryan Wilder.
The outfit will be featured starting in Season 2, episode 3, and is the first original design for the new Batwoman, as Leslie takes over the mantle from Ruby Rose, who led the show during its first season. Leslie is the first Black woman to portray a live-action version of the superhero on TV or film.

The CW has given us the first full look at Javicia Leslie in the brand new, redesigned Batwoman suit — and she came to slay. On Monday, the network released not one but two looks at Leslie in the new suit.
Some noticeable features of the new suit are the cowl that features natural, curly hair with red streaks, red gauntlets over the forearms, and shorter boots. The redesign also features new materials, with laser etching to create more visual depth and a stronger silhouette. During DC FanDome in September, Leslie hinted at these new features for Ryan Wilder, saying that, as the first Black Batwoman, she wanted to celebrate her natural hair and curves.

When it comes to superhero costumes, I think it’s safe to say that fans are just as passionate about the way those look as they are the actors who are cast as the characters themselves. Hey, you have to admit that putting nipples on a Batman suit can incite just as much outrage as, say, hiring a guy who once starred in some Twilight movies.
Since 1943, Hollywood has put a variety of spins on the Caped Crusader’s attire. Whether it be Lewis Wilson’s floppy ears in those original serials, Michael Keaton introducing us to fully black body armor, Ben Affleck’s desert attire, or “pure 100% Grade-a West,” we all have our preferences. Personally, my favorite costume was the standard one worn by Affleck in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, though those found in Batman Returns and Batman Begins aren’t far behind.

If you’ve been following the Arrowverse to this point, you’ve probably noticed a pattern of sorts when it comes to the evolution of costumes worn by title characters. In other words, despite being given minor alterations in their first three seasons, both Oliver Queen and Barry Allen received considerable upgrades when the respective fourth seasons of Arrow and The Flash rolled around. Having said that, it wouldn’t surprise us in the slightest if Supergirl were to don some new threads next fall.
What’s actually quite interesting about the Scarlet Speedster, though, is that those stylish duds he’s been showing off around Central City as of late were originally seen back in season 3 when Barry ventured to 2024 in “The Once and Future Flash.” If you’re in need of a refresher, that’s when he met up with his future self in an attempt to learn the true identity of Savitar.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in the past few years, it’s that somebody over at The CW really, really loves the character of Felicity Smoak. Yes, she does have a very vocal fan base (to put it mildly) that allowed her romance with Oliver Queen to derail any character development and/or screentime that would’ve otherwise been afforded to Laurel Lance’s rise as the Black Canary on Arrow, but she’s also been the subject of a featurette on The Flash season 1’s Blu-ray set for some reason.
Well, get ready for somebody’s favorite computer hacker to branch out further into the Arrowverse because it looks like she’ll be appearing in this season’s penultimate episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow as – wait for it – the Huntress. Or a very Huntress-like character, at the very least.

Following on from last week's reveal of Oliver Queen's more Green Arrow-style costume on "Arrow," The CW has unveiled the second season costume for Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) in "The Flash". The changes are subtle, most notably the lightning bolt on the chest now has a white background, but there's been other minor tweaks as well by costume designer Maya Mani. Stephen's new costume was designed by Maya Mani, who has done the suits for Arrow before, as well as Ray Palmer's A.T.O.M. (Brandon Routh), Roy Harper's Arsenal (Colton Haynes), Laurel Lance's Black Canary (Katie Cassidy) ...

The CW seems to be planning another spinoff series for Arrow based on Brandon Routh’s character Atom, a.k.a. Ray Palmer. The news for the Atom spinoff show first came in an interview with Arrow executive producer Greg Berlanti, who told THR,
"We're in very early talks in a very general idea that we haven't gone deeper on yet.”
This is a great character, and I love Routh in the role. I can't wait to finally see him in costume, so it would be fun to see a series that centers on this character. Berlanti continued:
"We just love this universe and we want to keep growing it. We are trying to do more of what we enjoy, and it's true: the shows are so plentiful with characters and storylines. There's a region of the universe that we felt like we haven't dealt with yet that we'd like to deal with.

Nyssa, the less famous daughter of Ras Al' Ghul showed up in the latest episode of Arrow, titled 'Heir to the Demon. I was pretty excited about working on her. One, shes the daughter of Ras, whose named have been popping up here and there through out the season, and hes a major Batman villain. Two, she have never been realize in any medium besides the comic. I actually had to look up her history and who she is. I'm very familiar with Talia, but not Nyssa so it actually made it easier because I don't have an image already stuck in my head of what she looks like. I was working closely with costume designer Maya Mani of course, especially this one we wanted to use alot more texture and different elements that give her abit more eastern flavor. I think she looks awesome on screen, shes badass but...

Conceptual illustrator Andy Poon discusses designing Arrow's version of Deathstroke: "I looked up every single version of him that has been done to find key elements but also things that has been done. Almost everything has been done........ so the only strong direction is to stick to the style of the show and ground him. The Arkham version is super cool but has a lot of more fantastic elements that I can stay away from, his armors are almost abit medieval inspired. I was also excited when Costume Designer Maya Mani told me that they are finally open to more hard body armor and even some colors other than the black and greys!" Oliver Queen will soon be a masked hero.
EW has your exclusive first look at Arrow’s brand new mask, which will make its debut on the show come December. But why the change? According to executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, the answer is multi-faceted. ”Conceptually, it was something we wanted to do because Oliver himself is evolving as the Arrow– from vigilante to hero, sort of from Arrow to Green Arrow — and we wanted to see that progression in his costume as well,” he said. “As Oliver is embracing being a hero, being a hero means stepping out of the...

With so much fuss being made about J.J. Abrams Star Trek reboot, it's easy to forget that there is another successful franchise out there with Star... in the title. That would be Stargate, which is due for its own sort of makeover later this year with the premiere of Stargate Universe. This is no sign that the concept is struggling, though. Indeed, the slew of awards that Stargate productions won at the recent Leo Awards in Vancouver, British Columbia (the home base of CinemaSpy) shows that it continues to be admired.
The Leo Awards are presented by the Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Foundation of B.C.. They were established in 1998 to celebrate excellence in film and television productions that are made in the province. Stargate series and movies are largely filmed in Vancouver.
