For the last 30 years, Oct 21st, 2015, has only been remembered for one thing: Back to the Future Part II. Since the middle chapter in the time-traveling trilogy came out in 1985, audiences have fixated on that date — the day that Marty McFly, Doc Brown, and Jennifer Parker arrive in a mythical landscape of hoverboards, multiple Jaws sequels and hydrated pizzas. When "Back to the Future Day" finally came, the world lost its collective mind, and there was no way that the stars of the movie were going to miss out on the fun.

Lightning strikes a clock tower at the climax of a high-stakes, high-octane cinematic sequence. Bullies run after our 17-year-old hero in a thrilling skateboard chase scene. A late-night test drive fills us with wonder as we first see a DeLorean travel through time, leaving behind trails of fire. These memorable scenes of “Back to the Future” shine their brightest on the big screen — and with big sound. That’s the thinking behind Film Concerts Live!, a partnership of two music artist agencies that is screening movies accompanied by orchestras performing the film’s score live. After screenings of “Home Alone” and J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek” with live music, Film Concerts Live! is joining the 2015 “Back to the Future” festivities with screenings that spotlight the score by Alan Silvestri (whose film music resume also includes “The Avengers” and “Forrest Gump”). Silvestri wrote about 20 minutes of new music for the concert series,...

Fans don’t want to see it. Studios try to avoid it. But sometimes a recast in the midst of a movie franchise is inevitable.
Whether it be a scheduling conflict, salary negotiations gone wrong, or even an unexpected death – we’re taking a look at six times a movie recast was too obvious to ignore.
1. James “Rhodey” Rhodes – The Marvel Cinematic Universe
Terrence Howard played James “Rhodey” Rhodes in 2008’s Iron Man. But a salary conflict stopped Terrence from returning for the sequel. Re-casting Don Cheadle as Rhodey for Iron Man 2 was a bit obvious, so Marvel made a light of it in the 2010 sequel. Cheadle’s first line: “Look, it’s me. I'm here. Deal with it. Let's move on.”
2. The Incredible Hulk – The Marvel Cinematic Universe
Edward Norton played The Incredible Hulk in the 2008 standalone film. But when it came time for The Avengers, Marvel decided the team would assemble sans Norton. [link...

Great Scott! Did you know that 28 years ago this weekend Back to the Future was released in cinemas in the Us?
One of the finest films of the 1980s, it made a star out of its DeLorean and shot Michael J Fox to fame as time-travelling teenager Marty McFly. To mark this birthday for one of our all-time favourites, here are 28 reasons why Digital Spy hearts Back to the Future.
1. The opening scene
After an intricate camera sweep across ticking clocks, the film literally explodes into life as wannabe rock star Marty strums a Dolby-exploding guitar chord.
2. The DeLorean
This gull-winged sports car - modified by Doc Brown for temporal displacement - became the iconic image of the series. Production on the Dmc-12 stopped in 1982 as the company went into liquidation, but the vehicle lives on in pop culture thanks to Robert Zemeckis's movie.

Close calls in movie casting history always fascinate me. The possibility of some other actor inhabiting what has become the definitive version of that character in your head is mind boggling. The reasons why people turn down roles, especially in successful franchises, are especially confusing. Those last minute casting changes are heartbreaking at times, especially when you see the aftermath of events, and how the actor's careers were affected.
With all of the casting switch-ups there have been, we've decided to aim our sights at recasting in movie trilogies. We've broken it up by recasting of characters that took place during filming, between a film and its sequels, and before the actor began filming their part. We've also included a close call, and some honorable mentions, as well as rare some footage and photos. Enjoy!
During Filming:

We've been throwing you updates on that 'Back to the Future' game for months now, especially as each new episode is released by TellTale Games. They've just released the third episode in the five-game monthly series (to PC and Mac), and it's unique in that the folks at TellTale managed to convince the original Jennifer Parker (Claudia Wells) to return to the franchise to play Jennifer, this time in voice-over form.
In this particular episode, Marty returns to an alternate version of the 1980s where Jennifer is some Joan Jett-inspired punk rocker with a jaded attitude. The folks from TellTale released a behind-the-scenes video showing us how they convinced Wells to return (watch it after the jump), and in it Wells -- who, you'll notice, is kinda looking more like the big-breasted Lorraine from 'Back to the Future II' than the old...

If you haven't tried Telltale Games' episodic "Back to the Future: The Game" yet then you're really missing out. Not only does it pick up where the last movie left off, technically making it a sequel, but it also manages to really capture the spirit of the series. It is Telltale, after all. The game's third episode, "Citizen Brown," arrives next week on March 29 and it features a surprise appearance from one of the original cast members.
The latest trailer for the game reveals that Claudia Wells will be reprising her role as Marty McFly's girlfriend Jennifer Parker. Wells was replaced by Elizabeth Shue in the second and third movies, but she was and is the original Jennifer. The new trailer, which you can check out on Telltale's website, takes a look at how Wells came to be involved. There isn't much gameplay, but there's an amusing story involving Marty...

[1] Back to the Future: Part II opens with the ending scene from the first movie. But anyone who has seen the movie more than once will know that the sequence was completely reshot. I'm sure there are a multitude of reasons why they didn't just use the same footage, including the fact that Claudia Wells, who played Marty McFly's girlfriend Jennifer Parker in the original film, had been recast with 1980's movie hottie Elizabeth Shue. Also, the movie was shot nearly five years later, so they probably wanted Marty and Doc's appearances to seem consistant with the rest of the film. But even then, they needed to try to make the reshot sequence look almost exactly the same as what was shown in the original film. The "a rejuvenation clinic" excuse Doc gives Marty once they arrive in 2015 was likely a excuse to get rid of the old man...

Back to the Future: 25th Anniversary Trilogy Quick Thoughts: It's been 25 years since Back to the Future hit theaters and I was only eight years old when it did. Surprisingly, I can still vaguely remember how cool I thought it was and how amazed I was when Doc Brown's DeLorean flew directly into the screen at the very end. I was even enamored with Back to the Future Part II four years later and Part III was even better the following year. Of course, since that time I've grown up, but still, parts I and III remain personal favorites with the first one recently listed at #2 on my Top Ten Time Travel Movies list. However, the second one is almost unwatchable at this point for me. It just isn't a good movie. Thankfully the western aspect of Part III is so well done, with all of the characters from...

Austin, Texas is very proud of their Alamo Drafthouses and why shouldn't they be? They are beautifully intimate movie theaters that combine a community setting for film lovers of new titles and classic revivals with dinner, dessert or whatever you choose to partake in from a full menu. Well, the suburbs of Chicago have their own now "Alamo," thanks to the Hollywood Blvd. Theatres. First in Woodridge and now at the newly-minted Hollywood Palms location in Naperville, Il, the suburbanites of the Windy City now have a big taste of what I've been telling them about for years during my trips to the South by Southwest Film Festival every March. And while Michael J. Claudia Wells has become a footnote in film history. She became one of the 1980s most wanted “girlfriends” with her role as Jennifer, Marty McFly’s (Michael J. Fox) main squeeze in the memorable film, but had to forego the part in the sequels due to a personal family matter. Elisabeth Shue played Jennifer in the subsequent films.
But Wells has no regrets. Her decision to leave acting led her into what became her life’s career, that of retail magnate, with her highly regarded Los Angeles men’s fashion store, “Armani Wells.”
