Kurt Russell has been doing the press rounds for the Godzilla series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and if there’s one thing that this press tour has made very clear, it’s the fact that people loves to talk to Russell about John Carpenter’s 1982 classic The Thing (watch or buy it Here). The latest ones to bring up The Thing him were the folks at GQ, and this time Russell took the opportunity to reveal that he wasn’t a fan of the sombrero Carpenter had his character MacReady wear.
Russell told GQ (with thanks to Syfy Wire for the transcription of the video), “I went into wardrobe … and when I was in there, I noticed, sitting over on this chair by itself, was this enormous sombrero. And finally, at some point, I said to the wardrobe person, ‘What’s the deal with the sombrero?’ And they said, ‘Oh,...

For 41 years, people have been discussing and debating the ending of John Carpenter’s 1982 classic The Thing (watch or buy it Here). People who worked on the movie can’t even seem to agree on what was happening in the final scene. Cinematographer Dean Cundey thought he had given away the answer, but then Carpenter came in and said Cundey had “no clue” what he was talking about. So the mystery remains. And for star Kurt Russell, it’s fun to hear that people are still talking about that ending.
Russell is currently doing the press rounds for the Godzilla series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and the ending of The Thing came up during his interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. Russell said (with thanks to Screen Rant for the transcription), “We talked about that, the ending of that movie, John and I, for a long, long time. We...

Legendary filmmaker John Carpenter is currently doing the press rounds to promote his TV series Suburban Screams, which is available to watch on the Peacock streaming service. (You can read our review of Suburban Screams Here). A lot of interviewers are taking this opportunity to ask Carpenter questions about his 1982 classic The Thing (watch or buy it Here) – and The Late Show host Stephen Colbert was no different. When Carpenter recently appeared on The Late Show, Colbert revealed that The Thing may be his favorite movie and that he considers the film to be his “happy place”. You can watch Carpenter and Colbert discuss The Thing for several minutes in the video embedded at the bottom of this article.

We’re forty-one years down the line from the release of John Carpenter’s 1982 classic The Thing (watch or buy it Here), and fans are still wondering what exactly was going on with the last two characters in the final scene of the film. Of course, Carpenter knows – and he says that he’s the only one who knows. While cinematographer Dean Cundey has previously said that he specifically lit the scene to indicate which of the two characters had or hadn’t been assimilated by “the thing”, Carpenter refuted his claim during an interview with ComicBook.com, saying that Cundey “has no clue” what was going on in that moment.
Cundey presented what fans refer to as the “eye gleam theory”. He said that the characters were lit in a specific way throughout the movie so that the ones who were still human would have a gleam of light in their eyes.

Legendary director John Carpenter first worked with the great character actor Keith David on his 1982 film The Thing (watch or buy it Here), which has gone on to earn a reputation as being one of the best horror movies ever made. Six years later, they collaborated again on the cult classic sci-fi thriller They Live (watch it Here)… and then, apparently, they went thirty-five years without seeing each other in person. Recently, they finally crossed paths again – and David marked the occasion by sharing a picture of their reunion on social media. You can check it out at the bottom of this article.
David didn’t provide any information on what brought them back together. Carpenter did recently reveal that he has directed a TV series called Suburban Screams, which filmed in Prague while he directed it from the comfort of his own home. It didn’t require much movement,...

Warning: The Thing spoilers jump out of nowhere in this piece!
“The last place you want to be in a storm in Antarctica is locked up with a bunch of Norwegian guys,” Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), a Columbia graduate and vertebrate paleontologist, is warned as she is flown into the tundra surrounding “Thule,” the central research station in The Thing (2011). The sequestered Norse researchers have never seen John Carpenter’s claustrophobic 1982 alien invasion classic, The Thing. After all, director Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. and writer Eric Heisserer’s 2011 prequel is set at the Antarctic facility from which the very Thing from outer space splits at the beginning of the ‘82 film. So the newest movie, which is finding a quasi-renaissance on Netflix these days, is a translation of the prior events by Heijningen and Heisserer.

Warriors, come out and play-ay! Walter Hill, the prolific director of the 1979 cult classic, The Warriors, has sat down with The Hollywood Reporter recently to reflect on the making of the film. While the movie had opened dismally and to controversy, with the subject matter depicting gang warfare in New York at a time when crime was rampant, the film would go on to gain fans and become a cult hit which has since sprouted acclaim and even merchandising.
In his interview, Hill opens up about a scene in the movie where a character named Fox was killed off by getting thrown in front of an approaching subway train. He reveals that the scene was written in when he decided to let go of the actor, Thomas G. Waites, as he could not come to terms with him. Hill explains,
I feel very bad about the whole thing. We weren’t getting along very well.

Dismissed by some critics upon its initial release in 1979, The Warriors has only grown in admiration over the years, and is now considered one of the most imitated studio films of all time.
The film is credited with accelerating the rise of hip-hop culture, with its dialogue sampled by the likes of Ice Cube and Wu-Tang Clan. Its plot has inspired video games like Street Fighter. Its look has influenced everything from Michael Jackson videos to the movies of Jordan Peele.
But its writer-director Walter Hill says it could have been even more progressive and forward-looking had he included a group of gay gang members in the final cut.
The Warriors is based on Sol Yurick’s 1965 novel of the same name, but Hill took the material even further, applying a comic book sensibility to Yurick’s tale of New York tribalism, itself inspired by Xenophon’s Anabasis,...

When John Carpenter’s The Thing hit theaters back in June 1982, the only thing scarier than the film were the reviews. Vincent Canby of The New York Times called it “instant junk” while Cinefantastique featured The Thing on one front cover alongside the question, “Is this the most hated movie of all time?”
Yet, if anything, the past 40 years has seen The Thing become one of the most beloved sci-fi horror movies of all time, influencing everything from Stranger Things to Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. To paraphrase Die Hard 2, it was simply a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, with Carpenter’s sci-fi led gorefest arriving alongside Blade Runner on June 25 of its year, just a few weeks after the family friendly alien fun of E.T.

"Something happened on the island a few years ago." Well Go USA has revealed another official trailer for time loop horror thriller 6:45, made by filmmaker Craig Singer. This already opened last year, apparently although we never heard about it, and it lands on DVD coming up in March (which is what this new trailer is for). Thanks to Empire we have a new photo from director Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It features Benicio Del Toro's character known as DJ. He's one of those shady characters who will be playing both sides. The character was initially described as follows:
“DJ is an enigmatic figure whose tattered, threadbare clothes and lackadaisical attitude conceal a sharp mind and expert skills.”
We also know that he will be a part of the mission involving Finn and Rose as they embark on on a journey to the wealthy, gambling resort city of Canto Bight. DJ is also said to be a "slicer" and John Boyega previously explained:
“We just need a codebreaker and he’s the best in the galaxy. Unfortunately, he’s very dodgy and only in it for financial gain. He doesn’t fight for any side."
We now have a bit more information...

Vice Admiral Holdo, Rose Tico, and DJ are undoubtedly the three buzzworthy newcomers to Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘s human cast. But whereas Holdo and Tico fight on behalf of the Resistance, it’s difficult to know exactly where Benicio Del Toro’s hacker stands in the imminent sequel.
Back when the actor first climbed on board, his underworld drifter became associated with the word ‘villain,’ but it turns out DJ actually operates between good and evil – between the light and the dark. Granted, Del Toro’s character is still riddled with mystery and head-scratching ambiguity, but thanks to Empire Magazine, we now have some new intel (along with a high-res action shot!) pertaining to Benicio Del Toro’s newcomer. And, well, let’s just say it’s better to stay in his good books.
This character could come straight out of a Bob Dylan or Tom Waites song,...

Reimagining the five boroughs as a graffiti-coated war zone, Walter Hill's 1979 cult classic The Warriors made stars out of a group of unknowns and minted a confirmed midnight-movie hit. Decades later, diehard fans still congregate to quote dialogue and celebrate this punk artifact on Coney Island – and in a new exclusive video, Rolling Stone sat down with original Warriors Cleon, Swan, Vermin, Cochise, and more to look back on the film's legacy as it nears the 40-year mark.

It.s been 36 years since The Warriors hit theaters and became an iconic cult classic. The film followed a wrongfully accused gang from Coney Island as they made their way through various hostile neighborhoods of New York. Now, some of the original members of the cast have reunited for one last subway ride. Check the video of their heartwarming reunion below. Produced by Rolling Stone, the video shows the actors Michael Beck (Swan), David Harris (Cochise), Terry Michos (Vermin), Dorsey Wright (Cleon), and Thomas G. Waites (Fox) assembling in their full Warriors garb. The men have lost a step in their old age, no longer sprinting through the stations as they did in the movie. The subways themselves play an integral role in the reunion, as the entire film revolves around the gang trying to make it from train to train in an effort to evade the cops and rival...

The Warriors is a Coney Island tradition, and a bunch of the original cast members got together for a "Last Subway Ride" reunion event on September 13. Rolling Stone joined the cast 37 years later, including Michael Beck (Swan), David Harris (Cochise), Dorsey Wright (Cleon), Terry Michos (Vermin), and Thomas G. Waites (Fox), as they took the familiar path on the Coney Island–bound Q train. "These subways are different than they were in 1978," said Beck, head warrior in charge. It's not too late for a sexagenarian reboot!

General Hospital's New Head Writer Garin Wolf Looks to the Future
"The mob will still be there but it will become a background for the emotions of the characters. The Spencer family, the mob, the hospital, will all have equal weight. I probably shouldn't say this, but so will Wyndemere. Everyone has a story, no matter who they are. Everyone can make you laugh and cry."
"There's not a character on this show who is mined out yet. There's always something we haven't seen, a twist on a character we think we know but really don't. I love the idea of pinball characters."
Why Brands Aren’t Leveraging Independent Producers for New Media Content

Seems everyone is attempting to move back in to controversial horror territory of late, which can be a good thing. Not always, but it's good to push boudaries. Maybe not as far as 'The Human Centipede II' is attempting to do currently, however, its new forced abortion thriller 'The Life Zone' from director Rob Weber that seems to be taking the brunt of critism also of late. It's not surprising that a film that deals with several doctors forcing a group of young women to have their babies, against their wills is going to raise serious issues and take on serious comments. The movie stars ex-Playboy model Angela Little (below) as one of the abductees from an abortion clinic. Robert Loggia, Lindsey Haun, Charles Durning, Martin Kove, , Katarzyna Wolejnio, Blanche Baker, Tara Buck, Thomas G. Waites, Eric Etebari and Rachael Robbins all star. You can check out the new official trailer below.

Find yourself on the receiving end of an unwanted pregnancy? Thinking about having an abortion? How dare you assume that you can do with your body what you wish! Finally there's a madman ready to stifle that ludicrous conclusion! A right-to-lifer with methods so misguided that the recently departed Jack Kevorkian would call him extreme!
Below you'll find the first trailer for the pro-life horror film The Life Zone written and produced by Kenneth Del Vecchio and directed by Rod Weber.
The film follows what happens when a grumpy old man kidnaps pregnant women from abortion clinics and forces them to give birth. Just when you think you've heard it all, right?

Last Saturday, the Loew's Jersey City movie theater presented Thing-Fest. Contrary to what you may think, this wasn't a tribute to the famed disembodied hand from The Addams Family. Rather, it was a double feature consisting of Howard Hawks' original 1956 science fiction classic The Thing From Another World along with John Carpenter's 1982 remake, The Thing. Hundreds of fans descended on the legendary movie palace that has been restored to its former glory thanks to many years of work by dedicated volunteers. I only attended the evening screening of the Carpenter movie, having never seen it before on the big screen. Suffice it to say, it was worth the effort. 'Suit the action to the word, the word to the action.' —'Hamlet,' Act 3, Scene 2I discovered the above quotation 30 years ago in speech class and have been using it ever since. It is always pertinent to the work. Action is the key difference between a moment working and not. Suit the word to it. The moment fleshes itself out, feels right, and most of all affects the scene positively. It doesn't matter if it's a play, a film, or even a voiceover job; the action must always be suited to the word and vice versa. Objectives Lead to ActionsHow does one go about finding the action? To begin with, you must discover the objective. This is the overarching need of the character: What does he or she want in the play? It's an overriding need that propels the character forward. Consider Stanley Kowalski in "A Streetcar Named Desire.

Normal 0 false false false En-us X-none X-none MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 The Warriors – no other movie of the Seventies captured New York City quite like this gritty, visceral, gang drama did when it premiered in February of 1979, making The Big Apple look not only rotten to the core, but also possibly – gloriously -- like the most dangerous city in the world. For those of you who remember the movie when it first premiered in '79, it made a lasting impact that was both exhilirating and terrifying, summed up in one of the most widely quoted lines in movie history: Warriors.....come out and plaaaayeeeaaaayyy!

After an unexpected shootout with a couple of crazy Swedes…err Norwegians, a group of American scientists on an expedition in Antarctica take in a stray dog. Why the dog is wandering around in the middle of B.F.E. (that stands for…‘google it if you don’t already know’) is initially a mystery, but the bigger mystery is the Norwegians who seemed so extremely desperate to execute the canine. When the dog begins exhibiting odd behavior the crew takes notice. It’s kind of hard not to when the fur-ball sprouts all kinds of gooey extra extremities, emits an unearthly screech (that could make a window pane tremble in fear), and consumes and imitates all living things around it. I think that would draw my attention too.
