The prospect of "Kill Bill Vol. 3" is an exciting one—we recently ranked volumes 1 and 2 just below "Pulp Fiction" and "Reservoir Dogs" in Tarantino's body of work—but thus far firm details are harder to find than Ping Wu. Read More: "Toh! Ranks Quentin Tarantino's Films" Back in 2009, the "Hateful Eight" filmmaker said on Italian TV that he hoped to continue the epic tale of Beatrix "The Bride" Kiddo, but only after 10 years had elapsed since "Vol. 2." Well, it's been 11, and now Tarantino's stirring up the rumor mill again. He recently told Ben Mankiewicz of "What The Filck?!" (full interview below) that the project is a "possibility" but not yet a "probability." As the A.V. Club notes, Tarantino has said in the past that he envisions "Vol. 3" involving the daughter of Vivica A. Fox's assassin, Copperhead, pursuing vengeance for her mother's death (which took...

Well, the charity ball for the new Knick is coming right up. But before we treat ourselves to a decadent night out with New York City’s philanthropic elite and the doctors they fund, we must see to some business.First up is Lucy who has become something of an expert in mixing the two— business and pleasure that is. Now that she has secured her invitation from Henry to the ball, the question remains how is she going to afford a suitable gown. Well, this former good girl has learned a lot since she came to the big city and is certainly able to buy herself one hell of dress after letting Ping Wu perform his Golden Lotus routine on her—the one where he uses her toes as poppers while he indulges in a little “quality control” with one of his girls. (And boy is this a far...

The Knick, Season 1, Episode 10: “Crutchfield”
Written by Jack Amiel & Michael Begler
Directed by Steven Soderbergh
Airs Fridays at 8Pm Est on Cinemax
The Knick is the rare case of a show that arrived precisely at the perfect time for it. Some shows arrive too far ahead of their time, and are thus canceled prematurely. Some shows arrive on the back of a trend, far too late to really make an impact. But The Knick? It arrived precisely when it should have. The trend of filmmakers making their mark on TV is still in an exciting growth stage, and the medical drama has been in need of someone like Soderbergh to come in and tear up the sutures.
This season finale is uniquely constructed, in that the first half of the episode is quite calm. We’ve become accustomed to finales serving as forest fires, rather than slow burns like this episode is.

"The Knick" has wrapped up its first season, and I have a review of the finale coming up just as soon as your colon has to go as well... "What have I done?" -Thack "Crutchfield" did a nice job of bringing the major stories of the season to a boil, mostly while linking them to the series' larger questions about scientific and social progress. "The Knick" is set in a time when modern medicine became, well, modern, and in some ways we can see how the work that Thack and Edwards (and, for that matter, Cornelia) are doing ties neatly with how medicine is practiced today. But this was an age of experimentation, which brought many, many misguided follies for every brilliant success, and we see that in action as so many of the characters' circumstances go from bad to worse. Most obvious of these is Thack being taken to...

I'm still hungover from the long, disappointing slog that was season six, but Lifetime's unveiling of a whole new crop of Project Runway hopefuls has me all kinds of excited today. For one thing, it'd be pretty hard not to improve on the last cast (like coupons at Macy's, some exceptions apply). But a quick glance at Lifetime's gallery of the 16 fresh faces who'll be on season seven (debuting Jan. 14) gives me hope that our show might be back on track. Hopefully. Some first impressions: -Bangs! No fewer than four contestants are sporting a sleek straight fringe (see photo, left...

The good news for the new season of "Project Runway" is that after the show's lackluster first outing on Lifetime, there's room for improvement.
The better news is that with "Runway" returning to New York, judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia will be back with the show full-time (joining host Heidi Klum and mentor Tim Gunn) after missing much of last season. That should go a long way toward returning some luster to the show, which performed pretty well in the ratings (Lifetime says it's cable's top reality show among the female viewers it targets) but lacked some of the spark and outsize characters of past cycles.
A lot of that depends on the contestants too. We don't know yet if there are any breakout personalities among the 16 new designers, but they are at least a diverse lot. The field includes natives of the Dominican Republic, China, Cote d'Ivoire, Mexico and the Philippines.
