There will be no more laughs in The Millers‘ household; the CBS sitcom has been cancelled.

The sophomore series starred Will Arnett as local Virginia news reporter Nathan Miller, and followed the exploits of his family, which also included Margo Martindale (Justified, The American).
One more episode will be shot, and the series is still scheduled to air a new episode this Monday (8:30/7:30c), but it’s unclear how many episodes will air beyond that.

Christy Grosz is an Awardsline contributor. After building a career on comedic characters he calls “eccentric,” Will Arnett is back in primetime with CBS’ The Millers, playing TV journalist Nathan Miller, a recent divorcee who finds himself living with his mother. Arnett is more of a leading man than he has been in the past on such shows as Arrested Development and Up All Night, and he’s doing it in front of a live audience on the multi-camera sitcom directed by TV stalwart James Burrows (Taxi, Frasier). He’s also enjoying a thriving film career, voicing Batman in The Lego Movie and appearing in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles this year. Awardsline: Showrunner Greg Garcia asked you to be a part of The Millers when he heard that the future of NBC’s Up All Night was not looking good. What about the role of Nathan appealed to you? There seems to really be no way to talk about CBS' new sitcom The Millers without talking about farts.
The series, premiering Thursday at 8:30/7:30c on CBS, stars Will Arnett as TV journalist Nathan Miller. When Nathan reveals his recent divorce to his mother Carol (Margo Martindale) and father Tom (Beau Bridges), Nathan's parents also decide to split up and Carol moves in with Nathan. But ever since the pilot was made available to critics, the most-talked about scene of the show involves Martindale's character unknowingly passing gas. Needless to say, the focus on flatulence has concerned creator Greg Garcia, who insists there's more to the show than fart jokes.

Chicago – There are very few recurring weak points in the CBS lineup. They’ve been dominating total viewers for years with mega-hits like “NCIS” and “The Big Bang Theory.” But there is one thing they haven’t been able to figure out — something to partner with “Tbbt.”
After failing miserably with shows like “Rob!” and “How to Be a Gentleman,” they gave up and just moved “Two and a Half Men” to Thursday nights. That worked and so now they’re trying to expand the empire by pulling the night’s big hits apart and launching two programs in between. Neither are good and one is horrible. Ah well. Maybe they can move “2 Broke Girls” to Thursdays too.

Will Arnett is experiencing much “separation” anxiety on the new CBS sitcom The Millers – but he might wanna think twice about evoking the stink-eye of TV’s erstwhile Mags Bennett!
In a new promo, Arnett’s alter ego, Nathan Miller, relates his unfortunate situation, as a recent divorcé now rooming with his newly separated mother Carol (played by Justified Emmy winner Margo Martindale). When his TV dad, Beau Bridges, makes a crack about “serving time” alongside Carol, Nate’s reaction doesn’t sit well with Mom.

CBS has released a first look of the key art designs for its four new comedy series, The Crazy Ones, The Millers, Mom and We Are Men. Check them out: The Crazy Ones stars Robin Williams as larger-than-life advertising genius Simon Roberts whose unorthodox methods and unpredictable behavior would get him fired… if he weren’t the boss. The image features Williams playfully posing with illuminated light bulbs. The key art for Mom features stars Anna Faris and Allison Janney. Faris stars as Christy, a newly sober single mom and waitress raising two children in a world full of temptations and pitfalls, and Janney plays Bonnie, Christy’s critical, estranged mother. The Millers stars Will Arnett as Nathan Miller, a recently divorced local roving news reporter looking forward to living the singles’ life until the unexpected marital troubles of his parents (Margo Martindale and Beau Bridges) suddenly derail his plans.

CBS has released promotional videos for six of its eight new series premiering next season. The network opted to post behind-the-scenes videos rather than traditional trailers. Included is The Millers with Will Arnett, Mom with Anna Faris, The Crazy Ones with Robin Williams and Hostages with Toni Collette. Cam Gigandet’s legal drama Reckless and the ensemble comedy Friends with Better Live are not included. Watch the clips below. Enjoy!
Hostages
This heavily serialized thriller is set for a limited run of 15 episodes. Starring Toni Collette, Dylan McDermott and Tate Donovan, Hostages has been compared in spirit to an extended arc from Person of Interest. Like Showtime’s Homeland, the new series is based on an Israeli series by Alon Aranya, Omri Givon and Rotem Shamir. The show’s plot centers on a family wrapped up in a mass political conspiracy that is poised to change their lives forever.
Hostages airs mondays at 10 p.

CBS is making big moves in its comedy programming this fall, expanding its Thursday block to two hours. To do so, it's relying on a handful of big names. Not only did the network place the new Robin Williams vehicle "The Crazy Ones" in the 9 p.m., but it's hoping Will Arnett's latest can bring some fresh eyes to the night as well.
In "The Millers," from "Raising Hope" creator Greg Garcia, Arnett stars as Nathan Miller, a recently divorced local news reporter whose excitement over his new single life is derailed after his dad Tom (Beau Bridges) leaves his mom Carol (Margo Martindale, "The Americans"), prompting Carol to move in with Nathan.
The preview of the show reveals its very much in line with the multi-camera comedies that, for better or worse, we've come to expect from CBS. Fans of the networks lineup will probably eat this up.

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the fourth announced today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on CBS.
The king of the networks easily remains in charge despite "Elementary" being their only fresh hit of last season's new shows. The network's line-up remains fairly stable with only a few key moves such as Thursday being expanded to include two hours of comedy programming, and "Hawaii Five-0" moving to Fridays.
Several other pilots didn't make the cut this week including the series sequel to the "Beverly Hills Cop" movies, a TV version of the comedy "Bad Teacher", the "NCIS" mobile spin-off "NCIS: Red," a procedural based on Leif G.W. Persson's literary homicide detective Everett Backstrom, the Frank Marshall-produced political thriller "The Ordained" about a priest turned lawyer trying to save his sister from assassination,...

Paris -- French film promotion organization Unifrance will spread the creme-de-la-creme of Gallic films and talent over the Big Apple when the 15th annual Rendez-Vous with French Cinema in New York satiates Manhattan's appetite for Gallic cinema on March 11th at Lincoln Center.
A selection of films will screen for the public at the Walter Reade Theater and the IFC Center in Manhattan and the Bam in Brooklyn, and Unifrance is hoping positive buzz for the titles will spark sales for the nine titles in the lineup still seeking Us buyers.
Christian Carion's "L'Affaire Farewell," a NeoClassics title stateside, will open the fest with Carion and the film's star Guillaume Canet set to join the opening festivities.
The Rendez-Vous will feature screenings of several titles nominated for this year's Cesar Awards including best film nominees Philippe Lioret's "Welcome," Xavier Giannoli's "In the Beginning" and Lucas Belvaux's "Rapt.
