"Can we just stay in the moment?" Lionsgate has unveiled a trailer for a romantic drama titled Float, made in Canada by filmmaker Sherren Lee. This cheesy love story is based on the book of the same name written by Kate Marchant. It's one of these "everything changed when I met this one guy" stories we've seen so many times over and over. A city girl with a life in Toronto, originally from Taiwan, rejected by her parents, makes an impulsive decision to spend the summer at a small town with her estranged aunt. She nearly drowns and is rescued by the lifeguard next door, who offers to teach her how to swim. Of course they fall in love, but will things work out? Float stars Andrea Bang as Waverly, Robbie Amell as lifeguard Blake, Michelle Krusiec, Andrew Bachelor, Rukiya Bernard, and Sarah Desjardins. This looks sweet and sappy and...

This article contains spoilers for "Yellowjackets." It has been nice to see adult Lottie (Simone Kessell) in therapy on this season of "Yellowjackets." Specifically that it's a gentle, seemingly helpful form of talk therapy. The second season opener treated us to a grim scene in which teen Lottie (Courtney Eaton), recently recovered from the wilderness, is forced into Ect (electroconvulsive therapy) by her parents, who just want a psychiatrist to "fix her." Putting aside the fact that Ect has (thankfully) profoundly evolved past the barbaric "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" style depicted in the episode, the mere act of being forced therapy by your family is traumatizing, regardless of its type.
Obviously, though, enduring what the Yellowjackets survivors had to face out there in the Rockies took its toll. Virtually every survivor has struggled to assimilate back into the mundanity of everyday life at one time or another, and...

Spoilers for "Yellowjackets" follow.
The dual timelines of "Yellowjackets," set 25 years apart, show both how a high school girls' soccer team was stranded in the Canadian Wilderness and how they cope with that experience as adults. This structure means we already know the main cast's fate, at least to a point. In season 1, the presence of Shauna, Taissa, Natalie, Misty, and Travis in the 2021 timeline confirmed they got out of the wilderness alive. Two supporting characters in the 1996 timeline, Laura Lee and Jackie, didn't show up in the present. Sure enough, it's because they're dead.
However, season 1 ended with the reveal that Lottie Matthews (Courtney Eaton) was still alive, though she was never even mentioned in the 2021 timeline. Come season 2, she's now a regular in both timelines (played by Simone Kessell as an adult). The bigger surprise in season 2 is that Vanessa "Van" Palmer (Liv Hewson) survived too. She got...

This article contains spoilers for "Yellowjackets."It's always been a tight race between Juliette Lewis and Tawny Cypress for the most emotionally searing performance from the adult cast of "Yellowjackets." Cypress' Taissa became the biggest success of the survivors after returning from the wilderness, creating a beautiful family with her loving wife, Simone (Rukiya Bernard), and winning a seat in the New Jersey state senate. But her dark side, which was awakened by those woods but did not disappear when she escaped them, has also caused her to fall the furthest. The near-feral state of unconscious savagery and self-division Taissa has descended to over the course of season two has broken up her family, jeopardized her career, and seriously threatened her sanity.
Nearly all of adult Taissa's scenes are hard to watch these days, which can't be said about adult Natalie's (Juliette Lewis). Sequestered at Lottie's cultish wellness compound Camp Green Pine,...

[This story contains spoilers from the fifth episode of Yellowjackets season two, “Two Truths and a Lie.”]
Yellowjackets was praised for its casting after the first season introduced characters so adeptly shared by two sets of actresses. In following the dual timelines on the hit Showtime series, the teenage Yellowjackets soccer team and the adults they become — after surviving the 1996 plane crash and 19 months in the wilderness — melded together with the teen and adult versions of Shauna (Melanie Lynskey and Sophie Nélisse), Natalie (Juliette Lewis and Sophie Thatcher), Misty (Christina Ricci and Samantha Hanratty) and Taissa (Tawny Cypress and Jasmin Savoy Brown).
The second season expanded the roster of survivors from four to six when it first introduced adult Lottie, played by newcomer Simone Kessell, in the premiere and, after a brief introduction at the end of episode four, viewers finally got to meet adult Van, played by Lauren Ambrose, when she and adult Taissa (Cypress) reunited in the fifth episode.

This article contains spoilers for "Yellowjackets" season 2.
While the promise of mysteries, criminal activity, cannibalism, and a story of survival may have gotten most "Yellowjackets" viewers in the door, it has been the complex, fascinating characters that keep folks coming back each week. The major characters of Shauna, Taissa, Natalie, Misty, Lottie, and Van have given us two different timelines to become our beloved favorites, but there are plenty of supporting characters that audiences can't get enough of, and I'm not just talking about their teammates in the cabin.
It's sincerely impressive that "Yellowjackets," a show that prioritizes the stories of women above all else, managed to make a legion of fans (many of whom are queer) become obsessively protective of Shauna's himbo wifeguy Jeff (Warren Kole). And of course, who could forget the consistent comedic relief that comes from a character like Randy (Jeff Holman), the words of wisdom...

“I think shit is going to get a lot worse out here.”
Nat (Sophie Thatcher) says this aloud to what remains of Jackie’s body the day after the starving survivors of the plane crash descend upon her charred corpse. She’s not wrong; all signs point to mounting tension and catastrophe for the group. Episode three of “Yellowjackets” Season 2, “Digestif,” grapples with the psychological fallout of their cannibalism as it’s compounded by peculiar events that suggest the land’s power grows in supernatural strength.
Unreliable reality pervades this episode for many of its central players. At the forefront of this theme is Taissa (Jasmin Savoy Brown), who struggles the most with the feast upon Jackie’s barbecued body. She has no memory of the act, and her visceral repulsion at the idea of partaking in cannibalism concerns Van (Liv Hewson). The teens decide to rally with a distraction...

This article contains spoilers through the latest episode of Yellowjackets season 2 episode 2.
Yellowjackets season 2 isn’t pulling its punches thus far. In the second episode of the season Shauna (Sophie Nélisse) continues to talk to Jackie’s (Ella Purnell) corpse, Natalie (Sophie Thatcher) fakes Javi’s death so that Travis (Kevin Alves) will move on, and Taissa (Jasmin Savoy Brown) continues to sleepwalk in the wilderness. The teens finally decide to cremate Jackie’s body, but thanks to a freak snow drift it turns into a macabre barbecue where everyone except for Coach Ben (Steven Krueger) gives into their intense hunger and feasts.
Things may be a little less cannibal-y in the present, but the surviving Yellowjackets aren’t faring much better. Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) is questioned by the police about her involvement with Adam. Even though she manages to keep her cool and avoid making herself the prime suspect,...

Warning: Spoilers for “Yellowjackets’ season 2, episode 2, “Edible Complex,” written by Jonathan Lisco and directed by Ben Semanoff. The young stars — Jasmin Savoy Brown, Kevin Alves and others — break down what happened in the past timeline while speaking to Et’s Deidre Behar about the Showtime series.
Following a satisfying start to “Yellowjackets” season 2, which not only brought back Jackie (Ella Purnell) but also saw Shauna (Sophie Nélisse) eating her late best friend’s ear, the second episode took things even further as the series made good on a promise first teased in the season 1 premiere.
In the present, Tai (Tawny Cypress) navigates her uneasy relationship with her estranged wife, Simone (Rukiya Bernard), Nat (Juliette Lewis) finds herself trying to understand what’s going on with Lottie’s (Simone Kessell) cult, and Misty (Christina Ricci) starts getting messages from fellow citizen detective Walter (Elijah Wood).

[This story contains major spoilers from the second episode of Yellowjackets season two, “Edible Complex.”]
Now that the second season of Yellowjackets has answered the question around who the fuck is Lottie Matthews, the next biggest character question could be: What the heck is going on with Taissa Turner?
One of the biggest lingering mysteries in Yellowjackets surrounds Taissa and what can be described as her alter ego. The “other Tai” — as Tawny Cypress calls it — made a big appearance in the season one finale when the newly elected New Jersey state senator flashed an evil smile after it was revealed to viewers that she had sacrificed their family dog at an altar, seemingly in hopes of winning the race.
In the second season, younger Tai (played by Jasmin Savoy Brown) is having increasingly worrisome sleepwalking episodes in the 1996 wilderness. And present-day adult Tai, played by Cypress, just had a major dissociative episode where she imagined that her son paid her a visit.

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Yellowjackets” Season 2 Episode 2, “Edible Complex.”]
Female friendships are complicated.
On ‘Yellowjackets,” Shauna (Sophie Nélisse) loves, envies, and resents best friend Jackie (Ella Purnell) right until her untimely death while stranded in the Canadian Rockies. She goes on to marry Jackie’s boyfriend, hold on to her old soccer uniform, and during a moment of hunger, fascination, and overwhelming guilt during the Season 2 premiere — why not all three? — ate Jackie’s ear.
Unfortunately, things only get murkier.
In Episode 2, “Edible Complex,” written by showrunners Ashley Lyle, Bart Nickerson, and Jonathan Lisco and directed by Ben Semanoff, the hallucinated Dead Jackie bit starts to grow stale (no pun intended). That’s not an indictment of the storyline but a testament to its efficacy; in the show timeline, this has been going on for Two Months — two months of Shauna rearranging her dead friend’s limbs, writing her fake journal, and getting into...

The first season of "Yellowjackets" produced enough speculation and wild theories to rival any television series since HBO's "Westworld." Fans devoured the first episode of the hotly anticipated second season (reviewed in incredible detail by /Film's Bj Colangelo) making it the most-watched premiere in Showtime's history. As the timeline continues to jump back and forth between the survivors of the plane crash in the nineties and their present-day selves, more dark secrets are starting to come out into the light.

It’s been over a year since “Yellowjackets” wrapped its Emmy-nominated first season and revealed the Antler Queen’s identity. In the ‘96 timeline, winter is starting to deplete the forest’s supply of hunting game. Subsequent fear breeds mystical thought and empowers Lottie (Courtney Eaton) to assume control of the group. Meanwhile, Travis (Kevin Alves) is searching for his younger brother, Javi (Luciano Leroux), who disappeared the night everyone unwittingly consumed psychedelic mushrooms.
In the present, Natalie (Juliette Lewis) has been kidnapped by members of a sect sporting the hooked-girl symbol, presumably at the behest of an adult Lottie (Simone Kessell), a cult figure we have yet to meet. Yellowjackets returns this Sunday for another action-packed romp through the wilderness after a plane crash and the lingering effects of actions haunting survivors 25 years later.
Yellowjackets Season 1 introduced us to the girls' soccer team at the center of the story and the supporting players in their lives decades later, revealing that they may never forgive themselves for what they did to survive the crash.
The first season was addictive, becoming one of the buzziest shows around.
Yellowjackets Season 2 picks up immediately after the events of the Season 1 finale.
It's interesting that when thinking of the finale, it's the adult versions of the survivors who immediately come to mind.
Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) and her husband Jeff (Warren Kole) are navigating the murky waters of the crimes they committed separately and together -- Shauna's murder of Adam, an artist who suffered a case of mistaken identity, and Jeff's blackmailing, which is what...

"I always expected great things of this world..." Lionsgate has debuted another new trailer for the mystery thriller, wacky sci-fi project called Zero Contact, described as one of the very first Nft movies. We already wrote about this film last year, as they tried to release it on an Nft viewing platform (I don't think anyone watched it). Zero Contact follows five characters all over the world, connected only by their devotion to the late founder and tech titan Finley Hart, played by Oscar-winner Anthony Hopkins. Upon his death, five remote agents — including his son — are contacted by a mysterious A.I. entity to reactivate the initiative, which may enable time travel. As sinister events transpire at each of their homes, they must decide whether entering their passwords will save the world... or destroy it. The film stars Hopkins, Aleks Paunovic, Tuva Novotny, Rukiya Bernard, Veronica Ferres, Adrian Holmes, Lilly Krug,...

Spoiler Alert: This piece contains spoilers for the Season 1 finale of “Yellowjackets,” “Sic Transit Gloria Mundi,” which premiered Sunday, January 16 on Showtime.
Internally at “Yellowjackets,” the nickname for the show’s trifecta of showrunners is Jab — which stands for Jonathan Lisco, Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson.
Lyle and Nickerson created the genre-defying Showtime series — which has become a sensation over its 10-episode run, concluding Sunday — and Lisco joined as an executive producer to run it with them. When Lisco completed the head-writing team, “I really wanted to mind-meld with them,” he said during an interview with Variety. That meant that he “wanted to know everything that Ash and Bart had thought about — even things that they had dispensed with.”
According to Lisco, that bonding process worked so well that the trio became an acronym: “When people talk about us, they say, ‘What does Jab think?’”

Spoiler Alert: This post includes some major reveals for the Season 1 finale of Showtime’s Yellowjackets, “Sic Transit Gloria Mundi.”
Just when it seems Yellowjackets couldn’t get any more sinister than “Doomcoming,” the Season 1 finale proves otherwise.
Hungover and exhausted from their trippy, makeshift dance, Shauna (Sophie Nélisse), Lottie (Courtney Eaton) and the rest of the survivors awake to grapple with the violence of the night before. Shrugging off his near-death experience is Travis (Kevin Alves), who gives a concerned Nat (Sophie Thatcher) the cold shoulder and declares that he’s going to search for younger brother Javi, who seems to have gone missing amid the chaos of the previous evening.
In the present Misty (Christina Ricci) meets up with Nat (Juliette Lewis) to help Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) and Taissa (Tawny Cypress) get rid of Adam’s body. Misty, eerily calm at the site of Adam’s murder, walks...

It's true. Gac Family is pulling out all the stops to be a competitor in the world of Christmas entertainment.
It might be easy to overlook the burgeoning network, but they're making waves by attracting impressive talent and offering compelling content.
Dewshane Williams is starring with his long-time costar across many romantic comedy movies, Rukiya Bernard, in the upcoming movie, Christmas Time Is Here.
We jumped on the phone with Dewshane to learn all about it.
Dewshane was taken aback by my casual interview style, but conversations should be as enjoyable as the project we're discussing when it comes to Christmas and romance.

If you're already adrift without another Hallmark Original Series to watch, you're not alone.
But we have good news today as Crown Media announced new original programming and some renewals we've been waiting for.
Most importantly, there are two renewals to announce that join When Calls the Heart for (fingers crossed) a 2021 release.
Good Witch will return for a seventh season, and Chesapeake Shores will return for a fifth season!
Hurrah!
As you know, Good Witch Season 6 just ended on quite the cliffhanger.
It was the first season in which Bailee Madison didn't appear as Grace, and in Rhys Matthew Bond only made guest appearances as Nick.
Without the younger cast, the adults got a lot more storylines, and love flourished.
Cassie (Catherine Bell) and Sam (James Denton) celebrated their one-year anniversary and began to grow under each other's influence.
The proved that there is always something left to learn about your partner.

“Van Helsing” fans will get to sink their teeth into the fantasy drama one last time.
Syfy has announced it is renewing the vampire show for a fifth and final outing. The news comes only a few days ahead of the season 4 finale, which airs on Dec. 20.
“Van Helsing” is set in a world dominated and controlled by vampires. Season 4 continues the story of Vanessa Van Helsing and her band of heroes as they fight to reclaim the world after vampires took over during “The Rising.”
The most recent season of the show is averaging just under 300,000 total viewers through 12 episodes in the Live+Same Day ratings, down from the 380,000 average viewers who tuned in to season 3. Those numbers place it as the second least watched series on the network, only in front of “Happy!” which was canceled after a single season back in June.
