These days, many fans know Mark Ruffalo for two major reasons. First is his portrayal of the mighty green Avenger, The Hulk, and second is hilariously giving away major plot points from whatever movie he stars in. However, his fanbase extends beyond the realm of gamma radiation and super strength.

The MCU itself is a global phenomenon, having raked in a staggering $30 billion at the global box office. However, Ruffalo, one of its most important cast members, does not believe that the MCU is his biggest claim to fame.

When your last film won Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Film, what in the heck could you possibly do for an encore? When you're Bong Joon-ho, a one-of-a-kind cinematic visionary who's yet to make a less-than-great movie, you go to Warner Bros and you go epic.
Bong's follow-up to his 2019 triumph "Parasite" is "Mickey 17," an adaptation of Edward Ashton's critically acclaimed science fiction novel about an expendable space explorer (Robert Pattinson) sent on a perilous mission to colonize the ice planet Niflheim. When the first Mickey dies, a human print is generated with most of the deceased's memories intact. In Ashton's book, the human printing process is set to continue indefinitely after the newest iteration of Mickey dies. But when one Mickey survives after being presumed dead, there are now two Mickeys on Niflheim – which would result in both being eliminated.

Allow Robert Pattinson to introduce himself again… and again and again.
He plays more than a dozen versions of the same character, Mickey Barnes, in director Bong Joon Ho’s upcoming sci-fi thriller “Mickey 17.”
Bong, the Oscar-winning director of “Parasite,” brought a wacky, thrilling first look at the film to CinemaCon, the annual exhibition trade show that’s currently unfolding in Las Vegas. Through an interpreter, the Korean director described “Mickey 17” as a “story about a simple man who ultimately ends up saving the world. It’s a strange type of hero’s journey.”
It’s based on Edward Ashton’s novel “Mickey 7,” but Bong opted to ever-so-slightly change the name of the film to “Mickey 17.” The number reflects how many times the main character dies, so Bong teased, “I killed him 10 more times!”

“Parasite” director Bong Joon-Ho dropped by the Colosseum stage in Las Vegas for Warner Bros.’ CinemaCon presentation to offer his first full look at “Mickey 17,” his ambitious sci-fi starring Robert Pattinson. Though the trailer seen in Vegas wasn’t released online after the presentation, this was the first look at it since a teaser was released in December 2022, so we’ve been waiting a while.
Though the movie was pushed back from a release this year to now open in January 2025, we’re impressed by what we saw in Vegas. And Warner Bros. film heads Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy championed the film’s incredible sci-fi vision. They further announced that it will be released in IMAX.
The trailer was a tongue-in-cheek, screwball dystopia of sorts, all scored to Frank Sinatra’s “Ain’t That a Kick In the Head.” We see Pattinson as Mickey, who is an...

The many facets of Robert Pattinson were on display in the first trailer for Mickey 17, the upcoming film from Bong Joon Ho that delves into human printing, identity and space colonization.
Bong made his first trip to CinemaCon to show off the trailer, with the director saying it’s the story of “a simple man who ultimately ends up saving the world.”
Mickey 17 is based on the novel Mickey 7 by Edward Ashton and follows Mickey 7, a space colonist known as an expendable — those who do the colony’s most dangerous work and often die in the process, only to be brought back to life through human printing technology. The protagonist in the novel is the seventh version of a man named Mickey Barnes, but in the movie, that’s been upped.
“The number is the number of times he dies. I killed him 10 times more,” Bong said to laughs from the crowd.

Hollywood has seen many changes throughout the various eras that it has gone through. From silent and black-and-white films, we have seen the evolution of film to color. The format of shooting films has also changed over the years, from proper film roll to digital filmmaking. The 2010s have seen the boom of streaming and the possibilities that it provides.
Movies like 2016’s Hush was removed from its streamer (Netflix) and is now not available anywhere
In recent months, there were reports of studio heads removing chunks of content from their streaming services to optimize taxes and restructure their brand. While this move has concerned filmmakers, industry insiders predict that a greater threat might be imminent for Hollywood.

South Korean cinema-goers will get a three-day jump on the rest of the world when the Bong Joon-ho-directed “Mickey 17” releases in January 2025 in time for the Lunar New Year holidays.
Warner Bros. Pictures says that the Robert Pattinson-starring sci-fi film will open in Korea on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, ahead of its global outing on Jan. 31.
The film was originally announced as opening in cinemas in March 2024, but Wbd recently pushed that back by nine months to allow the picture to be completed. Production had been affected by Hollywood’s writers’ and actors’ strikes in 2023.
“Mickey 17” is Bong’s first feature as director since “Parasite,” which became the first non-English language movie to win best picture at the Oscars. In addition to writing and directing, Bong also produces the upcoming film through his company Offscreen. Additional producers include Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner of Plan B and Dooho Choi of Kate Street Pictures.

It appears that Robert Pattinson’s much-awaited project, Mickey 17, has gotten the short end of the stick due to Warner Bros.’ massive gamble on Leonardo DiCaprio’s next flick. The Titanic star, 49, will be helmed by Paul Thomas Anderson in an untitled movie that is scheduled to start shooting in California this year. Even so, we can’t help but wonder if sidelining Pattinson’s flick was a wise choice in this regard.
Pattinson, best known for his role as Edward Cullen in the Twilight saga, has been carving out a niche for himself as a talented and versatile actor over the last few years. Bong Joon-ho’s highly anticipated science fiction thriller, Mickey 17, starring Robert Pattinson has been in the news for quite a time. The Warner Bros. film, originally set to hit theaters on March 29, 2024, was pushed back to a new release date. The film written, directed, and produced by the Oscar-winning Parasite director was previously delayed indefinitely. It’s now set to hit theaters on January 31, 2025, per reports.

Adapted from author Edward Ashton’s 2022 novel Mickey 7, the film was expected to have Joon-ho put his trademark tonal shifts from the source material. “Mickey 17” is looking more like “Mickey 2025.”
South Korean director Bong Joon-ho’s hotly anticipated follow-up to his Best Picture-winning film “Parasite” was originally set for release in just about a month from now by Warner Bros. Discovery. In January, citing post-production delays and the lingering effect of the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, the studio removed it from the calendar and slipped “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” in its place. Tuesday, it was announced that the Robert Pattinson-led picture won’t get released this year at all and, instead, will come next (eek!) January.
January is, uh, not when an auteur-led movie with a sterling cast like this is usually released, so the date does raise some eyebrows. Variety noted that the new date guarantees placement in IMAX houses, and coincides with Lunar New Year, which is a big movie-going day internationally.

Warner Bros has dated Mickey 17 for Jan. 31, 2025 — a very odd date for a highly anticipated follow-up from Oscar and Cannes Palme d’Or winning Parasite filmmaker Bong Joon-ho.
What’s key about the date is that Warner Bros will have Imax, furthermore next January is starving for wide releases. But the reason why the studio went with this date is to play off Lunar New Year in South Korea.
The title is a major part of Warner Bros.’ CinemaCon presentation this year.
Originally, Mickey 17 was to go on March 29, shortly after Dune: Part Two this year but the strikes pushed the movie. We kept hearing it wasn’t ready. Still that didn’t stop everyone from panting that the sci-fi feature could hit Cannes. There were never any plans for the movie to go to Cannes.

Mickey 17 is back on the theatrical calendar. The feature from Oscar winning Parasite director Bong Joon Ho will now open on Jan. 31, 2025, Warner Bros. announced Tuesday.
Last month, Warners removed it from its previous date of March 29, 2024. The film was delayed due to production shifts caused by the strikes. At the time of the announcement, the delay was not a surprise, as no trailer had been released as its date inched closer and closer, leading to speculation it would move.
Robert Pattinson stars in the adaptation of the 2022 novel Mickey 7, from author Edward Ashton. In the novel, Mickey 7 is a space colonist known as an expendable. (In fact, he is the seventh iteration of a man named Mickey Barnes.) Each colony features an expendable, a crewmember who takes deadly jobs but who are then restored via clone bodies when they die. Ashton published the sequel, Antimatter Blues, last year.

“Mickey 17,” the next film from “Parasite” director Bong Joon Ho, has been undated on Warner Bros.’ theatrical calendar and will not open on its previously announced date on March 29.
Moving into that date is “Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire,” which was meant to open April 12 but will now release two weeks ahead of schedule.

Warner Bros. has undated Bong Joon-ho’s “Mickey 17,” starring Robert Pattinson. The studio also announce a move of “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” to a March 29 release date.
Sources tell Variety that the decision to move the highly anticipated sci-fi movie from the Korean filmmaker was made to allow more time to finish the project, which had been affected due to last year’s strikes and other various production shifts. Thus, the latest installment in Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment’s “Godzilla and Kong” franchise, which was previously scheduled to hit theaters on April 12, will now debut two weeks earlier.
“Mickey 17” is adapted from Edward Ashton’s 2022 novel, described by publisher St. Martin Press as a high-concept cerebral thriller in the vein of “The Martian” and “Dark Matter.” Pattinson plays an “expendable” — a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize an ice planet — who refuses...

Warner Bros has pulled Bong Joon-ho’s anticipated sci-fi pic Mickey 17 from its release calendar, bumping up Adam Wingard’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire from April 12th to March 29th, 2024, when it will debut in IMAX.
We’re told that the Mickey 17 move was due to shifts in production amidst last year’s strikes, and that a new date will be coming relatively soon. Godzilla‘s move to the weekend previously inhabited by that title sees it set to open with very little competition, a re-release of Alice Rorhwacher’s La Chimera being the only other plan, exhibition-wise, for that frame.
Marking Director Bong’s follow-up to Oscar-winning smash Parasite, Mickey17 adapts the novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton. The book follows Mickey7, who is an Expendable: a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Whenever there’s a mission that’s...

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire will stomp into theaters two weeks earlier than expected, Legendary and Warner Bros. announced Tuesday.
The fifth installment in their MonsterVerse series will now open March 29 instead of April 12.
Godzilla x Kong is taking the date previously occupied by Academy Award-winning director Bong Joon Ho‘s Mickey 17, whose release is being delayed by post-strike production shifts. A new date is expected to be announced soon for the feature. (The shift was not exactly a surprise, as there has not been a trailer for the film yet.)
The latest feature film entry in Warner Bros./Legendary Entertainment‘s MonsterVerse follows the events of Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), where fans got to see the two apex kaijus finally fight for supremacy. With SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP reaching a tentative deal on Wednesday, Hollywood production is preparing to resume as quickly as humanly possible, with studios in a mad dash to get their tentpoles ready to go. The industry has been preparing for a horse-trading session the last month or so, as studios have tried to figure out how to balance which productions to prioritize with actors’ promotional commitments, all while attempting to rescue the 2024 slate of blockbusters that went unfinished during the strike.
There have been waves of films shifting their release dates due to the strike, with Disney pushing two major Marvel movies out of 2024 entirely and Sony delaying “Venom 3” to November.
So where does the slate stand right now? TheWrap spoke to multiple individuals at the major studios to get an update on which tentpoles they feel will make their release dates, and which ones are in danger of being delayed.

As visions of various 21st-century promises and perils alike converge upon us at once — from space travel to possible extraterrestrial contact to artificial intelligence to the looming societal threat posed by climate change — the science fiction genre finds itself at arguably its most urgent and crucial point in history. In recent years, the movies, in particular, have seen a kind of artistic renaissance for the genre, with various first-rate auteurs contemplating our technological future in works ranging from the moving to the thought-provoking to the brilliantly satirical.
In 2024, that renaissance will continue at full steam. The next year in film will bring us an incredibly vast and diverse range of new sci-fi flicks, whether coming from old savants like Bong Joon-ho, Denis Villeneuve, and Alex Garland, or genre debutants like Joshua Oppenheimer, Bruno Dumont, and even Francis Ford Coppola. Here, we've compiled a list of 19 upcoming science fiction films to...

Toronto, May 14 (Ians) An international team of astronomers has discovered 62 new moons orbiting Saturn, taking the total number to 145.
The planet is back into first place in the Solar System’s ‘moon race’ after being briefly overtaken by gas giant Jupiter.
The new discoveries mean that Saturn has not only regained its crown for having the most known moons (overtaking Jupiter with 95 recognised moons), but it’s also the first planet to have over 100 discovered moons, said researchers at the University of British Columbia(Ubc).
Jupiter, which added 12 moons to its tally in February, has 95 moons that have been formally designated by the International Astronomical Union (Iau).
“Saturn not only has nearly doubled its number of moons, it now has more moons than all the rest of the planets in the solar system combined,” said Prof Brett Gladman, an astronomer at the Ubc, the Guardian reported.

Robert Pattinson was discussing the pressure male actors face in Hollywood to uphold particular beauty standards when he told the Es Magazine that he once ate only boiled potatoes for two weeks as part of a weight loss detox.
“I have basically tried every fad you can think of, everything except consistency,” Pattinson said when asked about his own experience with dieting regimes. “I once ate nothing but potatoes for two weeks as a detox. Just boiled potatoes and Himalayan pink salt. Apparently, it’s a cleanse… you definitely lose weight.”
Pattinson added that he once tried a keto diet, a popular low-carb, high-fat diet largely comprised of meat, cheese, and vegetables. However, the Batman actor said he didn’t last long on the regime.
“I tried to do keto once. I was like, Oh, there’s a diet where you just eat charcuterie boards and cheese all the time?...

Actors, particularly those playing superheroes, face immense pressure to look a certain way, and Robert Pattinson is done with it. While speaking with Es Magazine, Robert Pattinson trashed the “insidious” body standards men face in Hollywood, before revealing that he once ate nothing but potatoes for two weeks.
“Yeah, it’s crazy,” Pattinson said. “And it’s very, very easy to fall into that pattern as well, even if you’re just watching your calorie intake, it’s extraordinarily addictive — and you don’t quite realise how insidious it is until it’s too late.” While Robert Pattinson said that he’s never struggled with body image himself, he has tried his share of questionable weight-loss methods, including eating nothing but potatoes “I have basically tried every fad you can think of, everything except consistency,” the actor added. “I once ate nothing but potatoes for two weeks, as a detox.

With his record-setting Parasite recently earning another achievement––landing among Sight and Sound’s poll of the greatest films of all-time––expectations couldn’t be higher for Bong Joon Ho’s first major studio blockbuster, a sci-fi epic starring none other than Robert Pattinson. With production having kicked off this past August, we now have the first look and some more details.
Adapted from Edward Ashton’s recent novel Mickey7, Bong is upping the ante for his Warner Bros. production with the title revealed to be Mickey 17. The sci-fi tale follows a disposable worker drone sent on an expedition with humans to colonize the ice world Niflheim. If any mission is too dangerous, Mickey is sent and if he dies, a new body can be regenerated with its memories intact.

Cue up your "Return of the King" title card memes, because Bong Joon-ho will be returning to our screens in 2024. Out of nowhere, Warner Bros. released the first look at the sci-fi drama "Mickey 17" to their social media channels, and admittedly, there's not a lot of footage to parse through and analyze. However, what we do see is a shirtless Robert Pattinson lying on some kind of futuristic medical table, as well as a tag that Warner Bros. will release the film on March 29, 2024.

Warner Bros. Discovery will be releasing “Mickey 17,” an original sci-fi melodrama from Bong Joon Ho, on March 29, 2024.
The next feature from the filmmaker of “Parasite,” which became the first non-English-language film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2020, stars Robert Pattinson, Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo. It is produced by Dooho Choi, Boon Joon Ho, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner.
While no official logline has been offered, the film is based on Edward Ashton’s novel “Mickey 7,” which concerns n expendable — and employee on a human expedition sent to colonize an ice world. After one version dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. The brief teaser offered below by Warner Bros. sees Robert Pattinson as, presumably, Mickey7 or Mickey19 being brought back/rebuilt/etc. after a fatal calamity. Robert Pattinson is heading to space.
Warner Bros. shared a first look at Bong Joon Ho’s upcoming “Mickey 17,” set to be released on March 29, 2024. “Mickey 17” is currently in production and is directed, produced, and scripted by Bong, adapted from Edward Ashton’s novel “Mickey 7.”
Pattinson stars as the titular Mickey, who is an Expendable: a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Whenever a mission is too dangerous — even suicidal — the crew turns to Mickey. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact.
“Parasite” Oscar winner Bong also enlists Academy Award nominees Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo, and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” star Naomi Ackie to round out the sci-fi thriller.
The first look at “Mickey 17” shows Pattinson in an incubator, seemingly in space.

Bong Joon Ho has set a date to return to theaters. The Academy Award-winning director behind Parasite will open Mickey 17 around the globe on March 29, 2024, Warner Bros. announced Monday.
Mickey 17 stars Robert Pattinson, Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo, with Bong penning the script based on the book Mickey 7 by Edward Ashton.
The book, published earlier this year, centers on a man known as an expendable on a mission to colonize a distant planet. Each colony features one crew member who takes on the most dangerous jobs on the mission — jobs that will assuredly lead to their deaths. However, their memories are backed up and they are restored to cloned bodies when they die. In the novel, Mickey 7 — the 7th version of this crewmember — is left for dead on a mission, but survives. When he returns to base, he discovers...

Along with Pattinson, the cast includes Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo.
Plot details for the movie have not been confirmed, and it’s not clear how closely Bong plans to stick to the source material. Ashton’s book was published in February 2022.

Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17 will hit theaters around the globe on March 29, 2024, Warner Bros said Monday. The studio already had the date staked out for an event film. Also opening that weekend is Sony’s Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and an untitled event film from Universal.
The pic from the Parasite Oscar winner is currently shooting off a script he wrote based on the novel Mickey 7 by Edward Ashton. The filmmaker is also producing.
Robert Pattinson stars in the title role alongside Oscar nominee Steven Yeun (Minari), Naomi Ackie (I Wanna Dance with Somebody), with Oscar nominee Toni Collette (Hereditary) and Oscar nominee Mark Ruffalo (the Avengers films).
The film is produced by Plan B Entertainment, Dooho Choi of Kate Street Picture Company, and Bong under his Offscreen, Inc. banner. The behind-the-camera creative team includes Oscar-nominated director of photography Darius Khondji, Oscar-nominated production designer Fiona Crombie, Oscar-nominated editor Jinmo Yang (Parasite), costume designer Catherine George and visual effects supervisor Dan Glass (The Matrix franchise). The music is by composer Jae-il Jung.
Parasite fired off like a rocket out of the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, taking the Palme d’Or and going on to win Best Picture at the Oscars, one of its four trophies there along with Best Director, Screenplay and International Feature. The pic was a revolution for a Korean title on the festival and awards circuit.
Mickey 7 was published in February by St. Martin, a Macmillan imprint. While the film will be inspired by the novel, sources say that given Bong’s past experiences with adaptations, his version might ultimately may be different from the novel’s. The novel’s story follows Mickey7, who is an Expendable: a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Whenever there’s a mission that’s too dangerous—even suicidal—the crew turns to Mickey. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his deal…and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it.
