Former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has been unveiled as the recipient of the prestigious 2019 Legends of Football award.
On 7 October 2019, the world of football and music will flock to Jw Marriott Grosvenor House London to honour Wenger, who follows in the footsteps of Sir Alex Ferguson, Pelé and Frank Lampard who received the award last year.
The Legends of Football event is an annual charity fundraising night, supported by the Premier League in aid of, Nordoff Robbins. The event has raised a staggering £8m for our life-changing music therapy since Jimmy Greaves was Guest of Honour at its inaugural event in 1996.
“Since leaving Arsenal I have received some interesting proposals some of which I am currently contemplating. However, one invitation that I did not hesitate to accept, and I am extremely honoured to do so, is to receive the 2019 Legends of Football award,” said Arsène Wenger. “I have always enjoyed...

Doctor Who, Star Trek and more: what happened when sci-fi, horror & fantasy heroes have popped up on British daytime TV over the years…
Pre-YouTube, fandom was a hard-earned thing. It took research, dedication and enough patience to hover over the family video player’s ‘record’ button for an entire episode of TV-am in anticipation of six minutes with Sylvester McCoy. Six minutes in which the Seventh Doctor would be polled if he was a cat or dog person and then asked to taste a lemon roulade.
Scarcity bred desire in those days, so we took what we could get from our heroes of yore, even if that meant watching Hammer Horror legend Ingrid Pitt make a chocolate mousse, or the aforementioned McCoy attempt to answer fan questions above the hubbub of a Nottingham swimming pool complex. The collision of geek icons and UK daytime magazine shows was sometimes illuminating, sometimes excruciating,...

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club are a club who are known for their attacking prowess and for scoring goals (they certainly aren’t known for being a tight-knit defensive unit).
Over the years, they club have had some wonderful attacking players – Jimmy Greaves, Bobby Smith, Martin Shivers, Gary Lineker, Teddy Sheringham, David Ginola and Gareth Bale to name but a few – and the Premier League years have been no different in that regard.
As a result, there have been some very memorable goals scored in that time – though not all of them have come from the attacking players who you’d necessarily expect them to come from.
Although many of Spurs’ most memorable goals in recent years are memorable specifically because of how good they were, several are memorable simply because of the circumstances in which they were scored; late equalisers, last minute winners,...

We understand that not everybody loves football. However, there are some World Cup moments that transcend the sport.
Some of these moments are beautiful and emotional tales of triumph against adversity and heroism. But others are just really, really funny. The latter are our personal favourites.
Here are eight of the funniest World Cup moments, which can be enjoyed by even football haters.
1. The time Gary Lineker pooped himself
You know Gary Lineker. The silky smooth BBC host with the silver fox hair, the Ronseal tan and cheeky selection of one-liners? Yeah, him. He once pooped himself on the football pitch during World Cup 1990. Seriously.
You'll never be able to look at him the same way again.
2. Diana Ross and the greatest penalty kick of all time
No matter how many times you watch it, it's never not funny.
Diana Ross was a central part of the USA's spectacular opening...
