This article contains spoilers for The Traitors s1 and episodes 1-3 of The Traitors s2
The Traitors is back for a second series and with it a castle, a Winkleman, challenges, amateur detective work and some slowly emerging villains of the show. A game show (of sorts), with contestants competing for a share of a large sum of money accumulated each episode by winning tasks, the meat of The Traitors is mind games that bookend each episode, when one player gets banished, and another gets “murdered”.
Three episodes have landed – all at once on iPlayer, one a night on BBC One. From episode four they’ll arrive on iPlayer in line with their broadcast dates. Three eps in and we’ve had enough time with the contestants to start to get a sense of who the runners and riders will be, and what tactics will get you banished quicker than a bad smell.

Peter Berkos, the Universal Pictures sound effects maestro and champion of sound editors everywhere who shared a special achievement Oscar for his work on the Robert Wise-directed disaster epic The Hindenburg, has died. He was 101.
Berkos died Tuesday in Rancho Bernardo, California, his friend Brae Wyckoff told The Hollywood Reporter.
While president of the Motion Picture Sound Editors from 1963-66, Berkos began a successful campaign for his colleagues to gain full membership into the film and television academies and to receive credit onscreen and off for their work.
Berkos himself was uncredited for the first 20 years of his career until Car Wash (1976), and the Oscars would eventually revive its dormant competitive sound effects category from 1983 onward.
Across four decades, he worked for Universal on such films as Orson Welles’ Touch of Evil (1958), four features directed by George Roy Hill — Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967), the Oscar best picture winner The Sting...

Basil Alchalakkal’s latest action-thriller, Toby, chronicles the story of a mute man of the same name who practices a single religion: violence. Toby hails from a town that believes in taking care of the matter by whatever means necessary rather than involving the police. Not even the law enjoys any power in the region, as the place is a hotspot for all sorts of crime, including murder, robbery, and who knows what else. However, everything changes when Toby, the most vicious criminal of them all, adopts an ordinary girl named Jenny.
Spoilers Ahead
How Did Toby Find Jenny?
Father Iglesias stated that he’d met Toby when he was a teenager with violent tendencies, which was obvious given the years of abuse Toby had gone through. However, unlike others, the priest was sympathetic towards him and treated him with respect, something Toby had never experienced. Also, it was Iglesias...

Billy Joel‘s Madison Square Garden (Msg) concerts are coming to an end, but there’s still time to see him at the famous New York City arena.
The New York local first began performing for Msg in 2014 and, in October, started the countdown to his last ten shows. The “Uptown Girl” singer currently holds the record for most appearances at Msg.
“Madison Square Garden is the center of the universe as far as I’m concerned,” Joel is known to have said. “It has the best acoustics, the best audiences, the best reputation, and the best history of great artists who have played there. It is the iconic, holy temple of rock and roll for most touring acts and, being a New Yorker, it holds a special significance to me.”

It is the end of 2023, and geek culture is dead.
For over 20 years, the world has been reveling in nerd culture the same way a cat interacts with catnip. Entire journalistic ecosystems have thrived underneath the tree canopy of geek-friendly film properties like "Star Wars," "The Lord of the Rings," "Harry Potter," the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and other effects-based, adolescence-prolonging blockbuster franchises. In 2023, we are walking out of the woods, the trees are becoming less densely packed, and audiences are emerging into a landscape that contains hits like "Oppenheimer," "Barbie," and "The Boy and the Heron."
The box office champion of the last 15 years has clearly been the MCU. The universe based on decades of Marvel Comics has, since 2008, released 33 films and over 20 television shows. It's one of the most talked-about and written-about film franchises in cinema history, and a generation was raised watching them, anticipating them, memorizing their details,...

In a stark debut from Leo Leigh, Maggie O’Neill meets a mysterious biker and discovers his son is a narcissistic YouTuber and wannabe dancer
This bleak, stark debut feature from writer-director Leo Leigh bears the obvious influences of his parents Mike Leigh and Alison Steadman; it has a barbed cartoony unhappiness, a depiction of its characters verging on caricature and misanthropy but not quite, and the notes of redemption offered at the end are ambiguous. It is not a theatre of cruelty so much as a theatre of mockery; a world where a lot of the time absurd people are laughing at the absurdity of others, partly – but not wholly – because of how unhappy they are.
Leigh allows us to see how the tonal sourness challenges the adjective in the title. Maggie O’Neill plays Sue, a woman who runs a (depressing) children’s party shop hiring out balloons and banners,...

On a recent episode of "Hot Ones," actor Mark Rufflao was invited on to discuss his career while chocking down incredibly spicy hot wings. Sean Evans, the show's host, read a film synopsis to Ruffalo and asked if he could identify the title. Evans read a synopsis for a 1994 film called "Mirror Mirror II: Raven Dance," a straight-to-video horror film put out by the beloved B-movie studio Image Entertainment. Ruffalo, of course, could indeed identify the movie. "That's 'Mirror Mirror,'" he said. "That was probably my first movie." Indeed it was.
Ruffalo pointed out that there was "Mirror, Mirror" and then there was "Mirror Mirror II: Raven Dance," which had a "Penthouse pornstar" as the lead actress and Billy Drago as the male lead. He noted that he played "the series actor sidekick." He joked that he had established a brand with the "Mirror Mirror" movies, sarcastically imitating...

Before I talk about the character of Tim Laughlin, I want to address Jonathan Bailey’s fine acting. From the alpha male Anthony in Bridgerton to the submissive and naive Tim in Fellow Travelers, he’s an absolute master of trickery. Honestly, I could’ve thought it was two different people; he’s so fantastic, but I digress. Tim is the epitome of a good boy in Fellow Travelers. I suppose in many ways his relationship with Hawk is a perfect example of the “bad boy-good boy” trope. Still, Hawk is an aspirational figure for Tim. He’s the man that Tim always dreamed of being—someone who can make a change and command power. While Hawk struggles with this exact power, consuming his whole being, Tim is forced to question his faith because of his queerness.
Tim’s biggest conflict is that between God and Hawk. On more than one occasion,...

The murder of three-year-old Caylee Anthony continues to make news 15 years after the child’s body was recovered in 2008. Caylee’s mom, Casey, was back in the news in 2022 with the release of the three-part limited series Casey Anthony: Where The Truth Lies which featured interviews with the acquitted accused murderer. In the special, Casey accuses her father of killing Caylee and then staging her death. Casey continues to claim her father molested her and suggested he may also have molested her daughter.
Casey’s parents, George and Cindy, have had enough and are fighting back with their own special, Casey Anthony’s Parents: The Lie Detector Test. The two-hour special is hosted by Emmy Award-winning journalist Tony Harris (CNN Newsroom w/Tony Harris) and will air on A&e and Lifetime on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 9pm Et/Pt. After every episode of The Buccaneers, I’m reminded of how it’s everything that Bridgerton season 1 wanted to be and more. Don’t get me wrong, Anthony and Kate’s pining will forever be etched in my heart, but for a feminist retelling of an old-school show for an audience that spends most of its days scrolling Tiktok videos, The Buccaneers definitely takes the cake. Of course, the source material alone makes a huge difference; however, it’s the boldness with which the show presents its true protagonist—female friendship—that keeps me excited for what’s to come. Never mind who Nan chooses or what Conchita and Richard end up doing. I’m always waiting for the moments when the women get to see each other and simply talk. Also, one can’t deny the realness of some of the dialogue in the show, which all lands like...

At long last, Jigsaw returned in Saw X. Set between the events of Saw and Saw II, the tenth installment is a gruesome fan-pleaser led by a franchise-best performance from Tobin Bell as John Kramer.
Along with a six-part making-of documentary and more, the film’s home video release features an audio commentary by director-editor Kevin Greutert, cinematographer Nick Matthews, and production designer Anthony Stabley.
Here are nine things I learned from the Saw X commentary…
1. Kevin Greutert was unsure about the concept until he read the script.
Greutert — who edited six previous Saw films and directed Saw VI and Saw 3D — is one of the few Saw creatives to return for Saw X, but he wasn’t sold on the initial concept.
“I’d heard about it years before, what the concept of the movie was, and I was like, ‘I don’t know. Really? Cancer?’ I just wasn...

‘Leo’ Review: Adam Sandler Plays a Literal Teacher’s Pet in Winning Toon From the ‘TV Funhouse’ Team
“Perhaps if people talked less, animals would talk more,” observes one of the human characters in “Charlotte’s Web,” a kiddie classic that serves as both the butt of several jokes and an inspiration for Adam Sandler’s animated “Leo,” an endearing Netflix original that strikes just the right balance between heart and fart jokes.
Basing the way Leo sounds on his squeaky-scratchy, slightly guttural impression of the late Hollywood agent Bernie Brillstein, Sandler voices a crusty old iguana who’s spent three-quarters of a century — practically his entire life — trapped in an elementary school classroom. Leo’s wisdom is largely limited to what’s taught in fifth grade, though he’s observed enough kids over his 74 years that the lizard reckons he’s qualified to advise this crop. Truth be told, he’s cheaper and more consistently helpful than your typical child psychologist.

“The bad news is I don’t have any new songs for you,” he said during the concert. “The good news is you don’t have to sit through songs you didn’t know that you don’t want to hear in the first place.”
Since 2014, the Grammy singer has played one show at Msg every month. The 74-year-old currently holds the most appearances at Msg and is planning to end at 150 shows next year.

Stephen Kandel, the prolific screenwriter whose work over four decades in television spanned Sea Hunt to Star Trek, Batman to Barnaby Jones and Mannix to MacGyver, has died. He was 96.
Kandel died Oct. 21 of natural causes in his Boston apartment, his daughter Elizabeth Englander told The Hollywood Reporter.
Kandel also wrote multiple episodes of such shows as The Millionaire, The Rogues, Gidget, I Spy, Ironside, The Wild Wild West, It Takes a Thief, Dan August, The New Mike Hammer, Mission: Impossible, Room 222, The Magician, Medical Center, Cannon, Hawaii Five-o and Hart to Hart.

Updated: Disney/Marvel’s The Marvels has, as we expected yesterday (see below), come in with the lowest start ever for a Disney MCU title worldwide and internationally. The $110.3M global launch estimate includes $63.3M from the international box office in 51 material markets, and $47M from domestic.
There’s some not so bad news in that The Marvels opened No. 1 in all material markets.
China, as expected, came in really low. It’s curious that there is still no Maoyan audience score, but the Douban critics thrashing (5.4) is clearly not helping. Nevertheless, the market was tops for The Marvels with $11.7M for the launch, followed by the UK...

With her quirky personality and perky smile, Meg Ryan reigned as queen of romantic comedies for over two decades after stumbling onto an acting career during her college years. Over the past 30 years, the blond-haired, blue-eyed actress has carved out a diverse and successful career, making her one of the most popular actresses of her time.
Ryan was born November 19, 1961, in Fairfield, Connecticut. After graduating high school, she majored in journalism at New York University, and began acting to earn extra money, adopting the name Meg Ryan (taken from her grandmother’s maiden name). Following appearances in TV commercials and her film debut in George Cukor‘s final film “Rich and Famous,” Ryan gained fame as half of one of the most popular soap opera super couples with her portrayal of Betsy Stewart Montgomery on “As the World Turns” from 1982-1984. Black-ish alum Anthony Anderson and his mom Doris Bowman (aka “Mama Doris”) are teaming up to host Fox’s new midseason music-centric guessing game show We Are Family.
