During their recent panel at WonderCon entitled "Halo-8: Comic Books and Illustrated Films," Halo-8 reps announced their next original comic book/illustrated film transmedia combo will be Matt Pizzolo's The Long Knives, "a giallo horror, bare-knuckled revenge movie with an otherworldly Tim Burton-esque aesthetic." The artwork will be courtesy of newcomer illustrator Ana Ludeshka.
"I wanted to do a gritty realism horror with a dark-hearted toughness like the first Mad Max, which totally kicked me in the nuts when I first saw it as a kid," explained Pizzolo, "but I didn't want the over-the-top visuals to fall into torture porn so it seemed like an awesome fit to do this in a giallo style and tie in the stylized horror of my faves Mario Bava and Dario Argento. Ana Ludeshka's ethereal visuals and extreme use of color are a perfect fit, and I was super excited to discover her for this.

The third and final episode of Matt Pizzolo's "illustrated film" Godkiller: Walk Among Us is being released April 20th, but that's not the biggest news. Godkiller: Walk Among Us is the story of a boy on a quest to save his dying sister. It takes place in a dark future after economic collapse, after nuclear holy war, and after Earth is colonized by alien races. Tommy and his kid sister Lucy live in an orphanage in one of the few remaining city-states, but Lucy is critically ill and desperately in need of a new heart. A Conversation with Writer-Director Matt Pizzolo & Actresses Danielle Harris, Tiffany Shepis, Katie Nisa, and Nicki Clyne about the creation of new illustrated film from Halo 8.
Jason Anders/Fangoria: So let's start with the creation of Godkiller- where did the idea first originate, and also, what were the first drafts of the graphic novel like? Were there any major changes made?
Matt Pizzolo: I first started tooling around with the world of Godkiller when I was on tour in Europe for my first film Threat. While visiting churches and museums, I was really struck by the juxtaposition of pagan art and Christian art. Especially in Italy and France, there's this enduring legacy of holy war in the art itself... I was fascinated by how religions and mythologies and cultures compete for disciples through art. And I was also struck by the similarities between Vatican City and Disneyland.

Halo-8 Entertainment is kicking copious amounts of ass when it comes to the innovative animation technique known as "illustrated filmmaking", and upon completion of their recently announced upcoming Loaded Bible project, they will next be producing the horror/sci-fi adventure Xombie: Reanimated created by James Farr.
If the name Xombie sounds familiar, it's because this project marks the second collaboration between Halo-8 and Farr after Xombie: Dead on Arrival (DVD reviewed here) was released by the studio in March. Award-winning director Matt Pizzolo and Emmy-winning producer Brian Giberson have scheduled the new film for production in early 2010 with a theatrical release planned for later in the year.
Xombie is the story of Dirge, a dead man with a mind of his own, who struggles against his posthumous cravings (not to mention legions of the living dead). In Dead on Arrival (comic reviewed here), Dirge struggles to reunite a lost child named Zoe with her family.

We normally don't participate in such blatant promotional pushes for films, but as Godkiller looks so sweet and we were offered branded wallpaper of one character, we couldn't pass up the opportunity. So what character did we get? The bad guy, Dragos! You can see a slimmed down version of the mobile wallpaper to the right.
All of this is to celebrate upcoming Sdcc events which include appearances and signings by Godkiller castmembers Danielle Harris (Halloween 4, 5, H1, and H2), Bill Moseley (The Devil's Rejects), Justin Pierre (singer Motion City Soundtrack), and Nicki Clyne (Battlestar Galactica), as well as animator Brian Giberson and writer-director Matt Pizzolo (Threat). Godkiller takes place in a dark future after economic collapse, after nuclear holy war, and after Earth is colonized by alien races.

In anticipation of the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con, Halo-8 Entertainment is releasing a series of wallpapers for your PCs and iPhones featuring characters from their upcoming illustrated film Godkiller. Dread Central has been given exclusive rights to distribute the graphics for Nicki Clyne's character, Soledad.
In the words of writer/director Matt Pizzolo, "The ladies of Godkiller are ferocious mixes of strength, sexuality, and survivalism... it's a pretty tough world [illustrator] Anna Muckcracker and I created." Clyne's Soledad looks more than able to take care of herself.
Along with Clyne, Godkiller's eclectic cast of voice actors includes Danielle Harris, Lance Henriksen, Justin Pierre, Tiffany Shepis, Bill Moseley, Katie Nisa, Lydia Lunch, and Davey Havok. It takes place in a dark future after economic collapse and a nuclear holy war with Earth having been colonized by alien races.

Halo-8 Entertainment has released the trailer for its upcoming illustrated film (minimally animated) Godkiller featuring the gorgeous artistry of illustrator Anna Muckcracker. Set in some kind of future organ-harvesting fascist/anarchist/who knows? state, the oppressed (prerequisitely bedazzled by tattoos, manic-panic, and leather corsets) fight 'the system' while acting downtrodden and Punk Rock.
The film showcases the talents of animator Brian Giberson, award-winning filmmaker Matt Pizzolo, and stars the voice talents of Danielle Harris (Halloween 4 & 5, Halloween remake), Lance Henriksen, Justin Pierre, Tiffany Shepis, Bill Moseley, Nicki Clyne (Battlestar Galactica), Katie Nisa, Lydia Lunch, and Davey Havoc. The first episode of Godkiller is currently slated for a limited theatrical release followed by DVD on September 29, 2009. Watch the trailer...

Earlier this week we pointed you in the direction of the Fearsome Fango Film Show Line-Up for the upcoming Los Angeles Weekend of Horrors running April 17-19, 2009. Now that the full event schedule is live, we thought we'd point out a few "choice cuts" (i.e., those panels that we here at Dread Central are either moderating, participating in, or just generally think you shouldn't miss).
Note: All guests/events listed are tentative. More stars are still joining the fun at this late stage, so expect lots of surprises all weekend long. And for the first time ever, there will be a second track of programming that will take place concurrently with the main track on Saturday and Sunday!
