Oscar Wilde is known as one of the greatest wits in literary history. But he has brought some delightful eeriness, too, with works like The Picture of Dorian Gray and more. This month, one of his finest combinations of the two, the 1887 short story “The Canterville Ghost”, will arrive in animated form on the big screen. Now, we have a clip from The Canterville Ghost courtesy of Blue Fox Entertainment and Shout! Studios that, like the movie itself, is aimed at the whole family.
In the clip, host Hiram Otis (David Harewood) shows off “the new wonder of the modern world” – electricity – to his dazzled guests, only to be pranked by those channeling the spirit of Sir Simon de Canterville (Stephen Fry), who soon commandeers the spook….

A few familiar faces are missing from Call the Midwife Season 12. The latest season of the long-running BBC drama recently landed on Netflix in the U.S., which means that some fans are just discovering that several beloved characters have left the show. The departures include Fenella Woolgar, who played the cheerful nun Sister Hilda.
Sister Hilda isn’t in ‘Call the Midwife’ Season 12
Woolgar joined the Call the Midwife cast in season 8, which aired in 2019. Her character, Sister Hilda, arrived at Nonnatus House in 1964, and she quickly became an integral part of the close-knit group of nuns and midwives.
Before she joined the religious order, Sister Hilda served in the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force during World War II. During that period in her life, she lived in London’s East End. When she returned to the neighborhood years later as a midwife, she was shocked by the changes she saw.

Warning: This contains spoilers for Not Going Out
Back in 2015, during a BBC Breakfast interview about series seven of Not Going Out, presenter Bill Turnbull asked Lee Mack: “Did you ever imagine when you first got that pilot that you’d get seven series?”
“I didn’t think we’d even get a series,” Mack answers incredulously, explaining that even going from script to a pilot episode felt like “the biggest hurdle”.
And yet, eight years later (17 since the show began in 2006), Not Going Out has now almost doubled its series from seven to 13, still regularly pulling in audiences of over four million, with the newest series arriving on BBC One on Friday 23rd June at 9pm. As ever, the show will focus on Lee Mack as a fictionalised version of himself, alongside his landlady-turned-wife and sparring partner Lucy, and their eventful and often farcical life together.

“Call Me Kat” has been canceled after three seasons at Fox, Variety has learned.
“We are very proud of ‘Call Me Kat.’ But, unfortunately, the audience response to it was not as strong as we had hoped,” a Fox spokesperson said in a statement. “We are thankful for our partnership with Warner Bros. Fox is making its renewal and pick up decisions.
The network has canceled comedy series Call Me Kat after three seasons. The show has seen dwindling ratings, particularly in its third season.
On the comedy side, Fox still has Animal Control, which is expected to receive a second season. However, the future of Welcome To Flatch, which is in its second season, is unclear.
Call Me Kat has been paired with Animal Control and the two shows are not considered particularly compatible. Welcome To Flatch comes at an attractive price point, but the cancelation of Call Me Kat is not expected to influence Fox’s decision whether to bring it back for a third season. Finding more comedies is a priority for new head of comedy Cheryl Dolins.

Mia Wasikowska has spoken about her decision to step out of the Hollywood limelight in the late 2010s to return to her native Sydney, Australia.
The now-33-year-old actor landed her breakthrough role leading Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland (2010) opposite Johnny Depp. She was 21 at the time.
The film’s box office success catapulted Wasikowska to fame among the Hollywood “It girls” of the era.
Her career continued on an upward trajectory as she booked starring film roles in Jane Eyre (2011), Stoker (2013), Madame Bovary (2014) and Crimson Peak (2015).
However, it was just after she reprised her role as young Alice in Burton’s spinoff, Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016), that she disappeared from the big screen.
“I want to do more things in life other than be in a trailer,” Wasikowska recently told IndieWire in a new interview. “I didn’t entirely like the lifestyle of going back to back to back.

The Fox mutli-cam comedy “Call Me Kat” has found its Season 2 showrunner in Alissa Neubauer, Variety has learned.
Neubauer takes over running the comedy series from Darlene Hunt, who stepped down from running the show at the end of its first season. Hunt also developed the show for American television, as it is based on the BBC Studios’ format “Miranda.”
Neubauer is a veteran of the Chuck Lorre camp, having worked on the super-producer’s hit shows “Mom” and “Two and a Half Men.” She started out as a script coordinator on the latter show before rising to the rank of co-producer. She most recently served as a co-executive producer on “Mom,” which ended its run on CBS after eight seasons back in May.

Some of Britain’s most respected drama schools are facing allegations of sexual harassment, with students claiming they experienced or witnessed sexual assault and “inappropriate” behavior from teachers, including pressure to perform naked or in their underwear.
An investigative report into sexual impropriety in U.K. drama schools from The Telegraph has implicated the Guildford School of Acting (Gsa) and the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts (Alra), among others.
One incident reported by the newspaper involved a visiting teacher to Gsa, which is part of the University of Surrey, allegedly sexually assaulting a 20-year-old female student at home in front of another pupil. When the two students complained to another teacher, they were initially met with inertia. After complaining to a second member of staff, the visiting teacher was dismissed. Gsa alumni include Celia Imrie (“The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”) and Brenda Blethyn (“Secrets & Lies”).
