Published in 1974, it was just two years before Brian De Palma brought Stephen King’s Carrie to the big screen, the very first adaptation of a King tale. Needless to say, the movie was a total game-changer in the world of Stephen King and horror at large, paving the way for countless other King adaptations that have never really slowed down in the decades since.
In this exclusive clip from the upcoming documentary King on Screen, masters of horror including Mick Garris and Frank Darabont spotlight the importance of Carrie to King’s career.
“It all started with Carrie,” Mick Garris explains in the clip. “The book was not well known until De Palma’s movie came out. And the movie blew me away. It was so great.”
Frank Darabont adds, “It was the movie that really brought a lot of attention to Steve’s work.”

Next heading from his pages to the screen is the Rob Savage-directed horror-thriller The Boogeyman from 20th Century Studios and 21 Laps, which hits theaters on June 2nd. Among the most recent titles of his to have been picked up for adaptation is 2021’s Billy Summers, about a hitman set to take one last major job before retiring, which has landed at Warner Bros, as we told you first. Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz are penning the script, with J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way to produce.
Producers on King on Screen included Sebastien Cruz for Les Films de la Plage, Jean-Yves Roubin for Frakas Productions and Zoe Salmon for Mr Salmon Films, with the participation of Ocs.
“Daphné has done a spectacular job of showcasing the talented filmmakers who brought the work of Stephen King to life in moving images,” said Dark Star Pictures President, Michael Repsch. “As a lifelong King fan, I could not be more excited to bring this film to audiences across North America and have it as a part of the Dark Star family.”
Recent releases from the L.A.-based distributor Dark Star Pictures include the WWII epic Onoda: 10,000 Nights in the Jungle, Shinzô Katayama’s crime drama Missing, and the Tribeca-premiering drama Petit Mal. Other upcoming releases from the company include the Tim Roth vehicle Punch, Fantasia Grand Jury winner Megalomaniac, and the serial killer thriller Saturn Bowling from French auteur Patricia Mazuy.
Repsch negotiated the King on Screen deal for Dark Star Pictures, with Hugues Barbier, Justin Timms and Joe Yanick for Yellow Veil Pictures on behalf of the filmmakers.

Do you remember those old sticker albums that you used to have when you were a kid? There you are, stuck plonk in the middle of a 1983 school playground, clutching a tattered copy of the Return Of The Jedi sticker album, wondering how to fill in those missing gaps. They're frustrating things, those sticker albums – what would happen would be that you would spend your hard-earned pocket money on packs of stickers, only to find that tucked away inside are stickers that you already had. So your next option is to trudge wearily around the school playground asking if you can swap your duplicate sticker for one that you don't have. Of course, it never worked out that way, since the missing stickers were as rare as a sighting of the sun in Britain in June 2012.

This is the Pure Movies review of Get Him To The Greek by critic Dan Higgins. The film stars Russell Brand, Jonah Hill, Rose Byrne, Elisabeth Moss, Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs, Colm Meaney with cameos from Zoe Salmon, Lars Ulrich, Mario López, Pink, Billy Bush, Kurt Loder, Christina Aguilera and is directed by Judd Apatow favourite and Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller. Brand’s performance is more than worthy of the lead role and, it is reminder, that he is a very good actor and, along with Hill who deserves his fair share of the plaudits, it is this screwball-buddy-relationship that brings the film above the level of just another gross-out comedy. Brand is wild, rebellious and utterly irrational; every inch of the moral fibre that makes up his rock star. Forgetting Sarah Marshall was riske, silly, funny and rather genius in my opinion and the same team behind that movie have come together to create Get Him to the Greek. The movie brings Aldous Snow back to the big screen in the form of Russell Brand, reuniting him with Jonah Hill and directed Nicholas Stoller. It also stars Rose Byrne, Tyler McKinney, Zoe Salmon, Pink, Christina Aguilera, Colm Meaney, Aziz Ansari, Kristen Bell, T.J. Miller, DeRay Davis and Chris Wilson.

FHM magazine has announced their 100 Sexiest Women for 2010. Brit Cheryl Cole tops the list, with model Marisa Miller and "Transformers" actress Megan Fox taking second and third. "Twilight" actress Kristen Stewart makes her debut on the list at No. 6.
The site has this to say about K-Stew: "A simply stunning debut for the 20-year-old star of the $700m-grossing-and-counting Twilight mega franchise. With one film left in the trilogy (Eclipse), and a BAFTA Rising Star award on her sideboard, the La-born actress is taking on more challenging roles. First she stars as jailbait rocker Joan Jett in The Runaways, then a Tony Soprano-baiting prostitute in Welcome To The Rileys and finally in K-11 she'll play Butterfly, a male-to-female transsexual with autism, which ironically is also Twilight's target demographic."
We're not sure we would throw stones at "Twilight's" so-called "target demographic" when you can't even be bothered to know there are four books/movies in the franchise.

A number of Dancing On Ice competitiors have sustained injuries, whilst rehearsing for this month’s launch show.
Paul McCartney’s ex wife Heather Mills has snapped one rib, fractured another, torn muscles in her shoulder and injured her pelvis.
Speaking at the show’s press launch today she said:
“There’s not much else left to break. Until I puncture a lung I’m going to carry on.
“The only bonus to it is that I’ve been injured so much in my life that I’m good at healing,” she said.
Jeremy Sheffield tore his hamstring, he said: “I couldn’t train for two and a half weeks and for a while we were worried I wouldn’t be able to do the show.”
Former Emmerdale actress Hayley Tamaddon has sustained a rib injury, which saw all the muscles attached to her ribs detaching from her rib cage.

Former Dancing On Ice competitor Coleen Nolan has admitted that she is grateful to ITV for offering her a job presenting it’s spinoff show, but is nervous about how the public will react to her physical appearance.
Coleen, who was once a size 20 but has recently dropped to a svelte 12 told The Daily Record:
“I appreciate that ITV have given me this opportunity. I am nervous about being judged on how I look because women are.
“When you watch The X Factor, it’s always a question of who is going to be the more beautiful or wearing the best clothes, Cheryl or Dannii. We don’t have the same conversation about the two old farts at either end of them.”
She added:
“We are in a world that is weight-obsessed and obsessed about how people should look but I don’t want my daughter to grow up with those issues.
She added:

Zoe Salmon has admitted that she would have preferred Suzanne Shaw as a judge on Dancing On Ice, to Emma Bunton.
Zoe competed in the last series of the show and suggested that ITV bosses should have followed Strictly Come Dancing’s lead and promoted a former winner to the panel.
Salmon is quoted by the Daily Express as saying: “It’s really interesting because Emma Bunton did Strictly Come Dancing and now she’s ended up as a Dancing On Ice judge.
“I’d like to have seen someone like Suzanne Shaw on the panel because she’s won it. She’d have been very similar to Alesha [Dixon] on Strictly. When I watch Strictly Come Dancing I really respect Alesha as a judge because she has been there.”
She added: “Emma is so nice. I think she’ll be really like Ruthie, because Ruthie was really nice.”
