A few days ago, we said we really hoped to see new games to add to our Nintendo Switch libraries during Nintendo's latest Direct. Nintendo delivered in a Big way! Come inside for more!
You can't say Nintendo doesn't play nice with 3rd party gamers anymore. You can't even say that Nintendo doesn't host any edgy games anymore. During Wednesday's Nintendo Direct, Nintendo made sure that they bucked any and all stereotypes by announcing a copious amount of games that ranged anywhere between the kid friendly and the Bethesda violent.
Words can't describe how huge it is that Bethesda is set to release Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus for Nintendo Switch, but we're going to try. It was already pretty cool that we were getting Skyrim on November 17, and Doom was just a matter of time, but neither compare to the Wolfenstein franchise. This is a franchise that is bloody and controversial,...

The Doctor took Bill on her first official adventure as a companion, and naturally they encountered a life-threatening situation in Doctor Who Season 10 Episode 2.
At first, "Smile" bore some superficial resemblance to a Seventh Doctor serial called "The Happiness Patrol," which saw a world on which happiness was the law (enforced, naturally, in a fascist manner).
Then there was the Big Twist, which actually proved both strangely sad and simultaneously face-palm worthy (a truly impressive feat).
Actually, "Smile" ended up bearing a surprising resemblance to Doctor Who Season 4 Episode 6, "The Doctor's Daughter," which featured human colonists and a bunch of deaths in an unexpectedly short period of time.
Not to mention the Doctor lecturing the colonists on how to treat their neighbors!
As mentioned above, this was the first official adventure of Bill and the Doctor, following their initial meeting, and the trip to the distant colony world proved quite an excellent bonding experience.

There has been a lot of feel-good diversity press about the 2017 Oscar nominations, especially when compared to the two embarrassingly monochromatic years that preceded them. Much of that is deserved; after massive backlash led by April Reign’s #OscarsSoWhite twitter campaign, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences added hundreds of women and people of color to the voting ranks — a significant, if long overdue, change to their Academy membership.
If you’re among those applauding the increasingly diverse nominations 2017, I have a question: What does diversity really means to you?
I am a black woman. Like many other black women, I’ve spent many years feeling unrepresented and invisible to our film and television industries. I have celebrated a year in which I and my children could see more than one quality representation of black men and women in a major motion picture. The success of amazing black-starring films like “Fences,...

The Academy Awards aren’t known for their commercials the way the Super Bowl is, but that may change somewhat this year. Walmart has partnered with Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg, Antoine Fuqua and Marc Forster on a series of short films set to premiere during this Sunday’s broadcast, with each ad based around the idea that “every receipt tells a story.” Watch Rogen & Goldberg’s contribution to the project below.

The directors are tasked with using a receipt for everyday items — bananas, paper towels, batteries, a scooter, wrapping paper and a video baby monitor — as the basis of their short. In the case of “Bananas Town,” a normal school day turns into an impromptu song-and-dance number. Apparently the musical bent of “Sausage Party” wasn’t a one-off for the frequent collaborators.

Paris Jackson recently sat down with Rolling Stone for her first in-depth interview, in which the 18-year-old touched on everything from her demons, future dreams, and memories of her late father, Michael. Most explosively, she maintains that the King of Pop’s 2009 death was far from an accident, but rather the result of a conspiracy. Here’s everything we learned from the fascinating profile on the up-and-coming member of music’s royal family.
1. She Believes Her Father Was Murdered

Thanks to his hook on Furious 7's Paul Walker tribute song "See You Again," Charlie Puth is behind one of the biggest and most beloved songs of the year - but that wasn't originally the plan. "It's interesting: I mean, I didn't even think that I was going to sing it!" Puth, 24, says in the new issue of People, on newsstands Friday. The rising star cowrote the track for the Furious soundtrack, and that was supposed to be the extent of his involvement ... at least at first. "I [recorded the track] as a reference vocal for Sam Smith to potentially sing," he adds.

In recent years, diversity has become a hot topic in comics. Readers want more diverse characters and creators to go alongside the white, cisgendered, and heterosexual heroes of the past. Companies are slowly responding to these requests, but it could be better. Here in Jacksonville, Florida, The Black Superheroes by Tangela Floyd and Brian Oakley hopes to play a big role in diversity.
I first discovered The Black Superheroes in Superhero Hive Comics during Jax by Jax (the city’s annual writers event). Tangela Floyd, the writer, was doing a reading along with actors and was also selling copies of the preview comic Introducing the Black Superheroes. I loved the art, which combined a modern, comic look with classic folklore aesthetics to create unique characters.
Who are the Black Superheroes? Daddy Mention, super strong strategist; Uncle Monday, animal shapeshifter; Princess Kitaka, combat-ready heroine; Nine Second Men, speedster; Turpentine Sam, psychic leader; Mama Duck,...

The Queen of Pop is crowning a princess!
Yes, Madonna is a fan of Taylor Swift's music, and she can't hide it. The 56-year-old icon told Australia's Network Nine's Today, "It's good to have princesses [of pop]. It means there's lots of pretty dresses around. I like Taylor Swift. I think she writes some really catchy pop songs. I can't get them out of my head."
You're certainly not alone Madonna!
The "Shake It Off" singer can’t believe the compliment that came from the "Material Girl." Swift took to Tumblr on Wednesday to thank the queen for this honor, "Thanks, now I'm dead."
Not knowing how to deal with the attention, Swift tags it as "Be cool Taylor stop being embarrassing."
Photos: 11 Times Madonna Looked Half Her Age
Although Swift is trying to keep it together now, she did not say that Madonna is her role model in music when asked by Time back in November...

Most Richard Linklater fans can tell you which film – and sometimes which scene – ignited their enthusiasm for the director, whether it was 1991’s influential indie Slacker, 1993’s high-school classic Dazed and Confused or 2003’s comedy School of Rock.
But, it all began with Before Sunrise.
Released 20 years ago this week, Before Sunrise boasted fresh-faced actors and a swoon-worthy premise: An American man (Ethan Hawke) meets a French woman (Julie Delpy) on a train, and they spend one magical evening together in Vienna. That alone was enough to attract my 17-year-old self to the theater, as was the case with many of my peers.
News: Julie & Ethan Reunite 'Before Midnight'
The true magic of Before Sunrise, however, lies beyond the picturesque scenery and smitten gazes. Building upon his gift for crafting relatable and engrossing conversation, Linklater’s characters feel fully formed, discussing everything from philosophy and religion to love and their hopes for the future.

Why are more and more Americans falling under the sudsy spell of South Korean dramas? One theory: These shows tend to come in self-contained 16- to 20-episode seasons, making them easily digestible. Another: If you don’t speak Korean, watching one demands your full attention (subtitles!), meaning you get sucked in that much more quickly.
And then there are the dramas themselves — endearingly theatrical and kooky, with a sweetness that can be tough to find in grittier American fare. “Their portrayal of love is a little more PG,” says Jacqueline Sia, senior content manager of massive international TV library DramaFever.

Thor: The Dark World is just weeks away from hitting the big screen, and the anticipation has naturally been rising in recent months.
Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 was a brilliant start to Phase Two for Marvel, and Alan Taylor’s next entry in the studio’s Cinematic Universe is sure to be a lot of fun too.
Following the extended trailer that landed online this week, teasing snippets of new footage, Marvel has released a new character poster for Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster, via Pop Sugar, along with releasing a character poster for Jaimie Alexander’s Sif hitting the battlefield.

There will be a bunch of new faces on the Billboard 200 next week as up to five acts debut in the Top 10. Pop singer Ariana Grande’s “Yours Truly” is in the lead for the top spot going into the weekend, but only by a slim margin over Tamar Braxton’s “Love and War.” Hits Daily Double projects that “Truly” will sell up to 115,000 for No. 1, while “Love” will post numbers around 110,000, for No. 2, but it’s still too close to call. Debuting at No. 3 will be Nine Inch Nail’s “Hesitation Marks” with sales of up to...

The first Chicago bar I drank in was the Old Town Ale House. That bar was destroyed by fire in the 1960s, the customers hosed off, and the Ale House moved directly across the street to its present location, where it has been named Chicago's Best Dive Bar by the Chicago Tribune.
I was taken to the Ale House by Tom Devries, my fellow college editor from the Roosevelt Torch. It was early on a snowy Sunday afternoon. I remember us walking down to Barbara's Bookstore to get our copies of the legendary New York Herald-Tribune Sunday edition. Pogo. Judith Crist. Tom Wolfe. Jimmy Breslin. I remember peanut shells on the floor and a projector grinding through 16mm prints of Charlie Chaplin shorts. I remember my first taste of dark Löwenbräu beer. The Ale House was cool even then.

Playing diner owner Han Lee on the ribald 2 Broke Girls, Matthew Moy has one very memorable role on the CBS comedy. That’s mostly because the show’s creators have been criticized for making Han one big stereotype after another: The character speaks with a heavy accent, often doesn’t understand American slang and turns of phrases, and is regularly made fun of for his small stature and clueless nature.
Behind the silly role, however, is Matthew Moy, an actor who, truly, couldn’t be further from who he plays on TV. Moy is very clued into pop culture, which...

Mel B and Psy go Gangnam style
Seven’s singing competition The X Factor had its best ratings result of 2012 last night.
The show rated 1.665m, according to preliminary OzTam ratings, edging it just over its previous best of 1.662m from September 11th.
The elimination show, which saw soul vocalist Angel Tupai sent home, included K-Pop singer and cultural phenomenon du jour Psy perform his song Gangnam Style dance with former Spice Girl Mel B.
The show won across all three key advertising demographics of 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.
Second for the night was Seven’s local drama Winners & Losers, rating 1.152m across total people. However the show couldn’t hold its spot in the key ad demos, placing third behind Nine’s The Big Bang Theory for the 18-49 and 25-54 age groups, and fourth behind Big Bang Theory and Big Brother for 16-39.

London, September 28: Nine or 68 years are the exact points in life when we are most likely to throw caution to the wind and put fun first, a new survey has revealed.
The surprising results of the survey, conducted by sweet brand Juicy Drop Pop that polled 2,000 people aged five to 80, show that for most of us it leaves 59 years of toil in between.
Two-thirds of those aged 68 claimed having fun is one of the most important driving forces.
This was a sentiment.

Thus, we have the announcement for Bond 50. This collection, is absolutely huge. It's got all 22 current Bond films in HD on blu-ray, and includes a 23rd bonus disc with new special features. That's a lot of damn films, and simply a massive collection.
Outside of all of that, another thing that should have fans excited is that it this is the first time 9 of these films have been available in high-definition. The set is scheduled to release on September 25th,...

If you take a look at the music charts today, it’s rare to see a Top 10 that isn’t filled with glossy American popstars who just want to dance on the floor/party rock/put their hands up/raise their glass (I could keep on going) so sometimes it’s healthy to take a look at things from the other side of the world. Over in South Korea, China and Japan it is very rare for any of the artists we take for granted to dominate the charts considering these countries are each filled with their own pop culture. Cracking the east Asian market is the equivalent of British musicians trying to crack America – near on impossible. You may think ‘What’s the point? I’ve never heard of any of these people and the only ones listening to them are those crazy asian kids who stay on chatrooms...

'There's nine girls, but our teamwork is more amazing than our choreography,' Tiffany tells MTV News.

Nine-member Korean Pop group Girls' Generation are making a name for themselves in the U.S. The girls recently played an "epic" Madison Square Garden show, they're releasing their first Stateside single later this month and their new music video for "The Boys" has nearly 15 million YouTube views after just two weeks.
But although the group has had enormous success overseas, they're still relatively unknown in America, which is why when MTV News sat down with Girls' Generation (a.k.a. Soshi or Snsd to their international fans), we asked them to tell us what they thought new followers needed to know about them.
"We have impeccable choreography, in-sync choreography," Tiffany said.
"Our music is upbeat, lively and energetic," Sooyung added.

Also successful in the nominations are folk band Boy and Bear, hip hop act Drapht and Eskimo Joe - each with six nominations - and Guy Sebastian, who picks up two nominations. Do you ever have that moment when you realize you've watched too many movies? Cause after all, my little wonderwalls, there is such a thing as Real life and the movie explanation often doesn't apply. That being said, when I read about this mysterious "goo" plaguing some Alaskan villages, my first thought was "smear it on a toaster and play some Jackie Wilson!" (The Independent)
Though I take comfort in knowing I haven't watched as many movies as this bloke who built an Alien/Predator themed motorcycle. Thanks, mswas! (Oddity Central)
While we're on the subject of goo, reader Candee sent me these amazing artisinal jello shots. I want to eat them all. And then dance around to Jackie Wilson. (Yummly)
Because I've seen so many movies, these Pop Culture Cinegraphs really float my boat. That Tilda Swinton one sort of sunk me, though. Seriously, that is some scary sh*t.

After having suffered through all the horrors of Hot Shot (I'm still not recovered from that, Btw), this week's episode was so much fun that I thought I must be dreaming.
Certainly some of our favorite characters were dreaming, and pretty steamy dreams too …
Eric Finds God(Ric)
Sookie is lying in bed, fast asleep, in that carefully-posed, neck-exposed, heaving-breast sort of way that only women about to be bitten by vampires in movies do.
Eric stands in the doorway watching her. Suddenly he's fang-blocked from behind, as a hand reaches over his shoulder. It's Godric! Mmmm, dreamy, emo-y, Godric.
Godric strokes Eric provocatively. But then Sookie has to go and ruin everything, as Godric decides to go stroke her leg instead. Booo!
Eric rushes over and tells him to lay off – he called dibs on the fairy. Godric responds (in subtitles) that they can drink together and walk in the sun.

What does hard work, undeniable girl power, a sprinkling of sass and, oh yeah, some very memorable music videos get you? Well, if you're Katy Perry, that winning combination gets you the most nominations at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards.
"I have nine nominations!" Perry shouted when she heard about her noms from MTV News' Sway during Wednesday's night's (July 20) on-air nominations event. "Nine? I thought that was a typo or something! Oh my god, really? That's the most nominations I've ever gotten for anything," she added excitedly.

Twitch an open letter to visual effects artists. Wow, I had no idea that they weren't unionized like other movie crafts. Hollywood is ripping them off!
GQ an oral history of the making of Terrence Malick's Badlands. Great quotes including some discrepancies about his nature. Paul Lee, a Harvard philosophy instructor, says "he was so robust, like Belushi. Like a wrestler, even though he wasn't aggressive in any way" Not aggressive? Martin Sheen says he literally beat up a producer on the set!
Heat Vision X-Men First Class skywriting. Now there's some advertising for you.
Pop Matters "Trouble in Wonderland" the fairy tale's current cinematic crisis.
Cinema Blend Bizarre story that I'm hoping is just an interview pull out of context: Angelina Jolie doesn't want to portray Cleopatra as a sex symbol this time. Uhhhh

Iggy Pop has had a few retrospectives in his career, none of them especially persuasive. At a mere 17 tracks, the single-disc Nude & Rude in 1996 proved so cursory as to be insulting: No “TV Eye”? No “Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell”? Seriously? Nine years later, A Million in Prizes more than doubled the tracklist, but it still sounded like a superficial dip into his rich catalog, with too much obligatory emphasis on his late-career duds. Despite so many excellent songs, Pop simply may not be a musician who lends himself to that sort of retrospective....

2010 has gone by in a blur and another year at the movies has come and gone. So may films that seemed promising have turned out to be disappointments and the surprises audiences received were few and far between. But the past is the past, it's time to look onward as a fresh new year begins and hopes are raised for it to be an exciting time in the world of cinema. Kicking off the Winter season are a number of films described in detail and listed below:january 7Season Of The WITCHNicolas Cage stars alongside Ron Perlman as knights who return from the Crusades to find their homeland ruined by the Black Plague. Two church elders accuse a girl (Claire Foy) of being a witch and being responsible for the destruction. They command Behmen and Felson to transport her to a monastery so the monks there can lift her curse from the land.

A few weeks ago we asked readers to submit up to five of their favorite movies in our third annual favorite gay film poll. We wanted to see which older gay films have timeless appeal and which recent gay films you judged important enough to register in the rankings.
After voting closed we sorted through the nearly 15,000 nominations (representing over 500 individual titles) to identify your top fifty favorite gay films.
Tabulating this data is actually a bit harder than it sounds. For instance, do you know how many different ways our readers can type/abbreviate "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert?" We counted about a dozen!
But we're not complaining, because the list that resulted this year is actually rather interesting.
Nine new films made their way into the rankings, and five of these are of very recent vintage. This represents a strong showing for current queer cinema.

Hamlet
Prepare for the latest battle of the princes. John Simm is first in the field at the Sheffield Crucible; then Rory Kinnear enters the running in a Nicholas Hytner production for the National Theatre. It's not, of course, a contest – but comparisons will be inevitable. Crucible, Sheffield (0114-249 6000), from 16 September; and Olivier, London SE1 (020-7452 3000), from 7 October.
The Thrill of it All
Forced Entertainment continues the British experimental tradition with an evening of vaudevillian capers, Japanese lounge music and tarnished sequins. Nuffield, Lancaster (01524 594151), 12-13 October. Then touring.
