The story of the horrific Idaho student murders is in the works for the page and the small screen. Bestselling author James Patterson and award-winning journalist Vicky Ward are teaming on a nonfiction book about the 2022 murders of the four University of Idaho students. Additionally, Skydance Television intends to option the rights to the book for development as a docuseries, based on Patterson and Ward’s investigation, as part of their first-look deal with Patterson.
The book, which does not yet have a title or release date, will be published by Little Brown and Company. According to the publishing company, in it, Patterson and Ward will give a dramatic account of the November 2022 murders of the four students in the Idaho college town of Moscow and the investigation of suspect Bryan Kohberger.
Patterson and Ward will draw from dozens of exclusive interviews, extensive on-the-ground reporting, copious court transcripts, and also will attend Kohberger’s trial.

Variety announced today that "Straight Outta Compton," "Hidden Figures," and "Black Adam" star Aldis Hodge has been cast in the titular role in a new Prime Video series based on James Patterson's Alex Cross novels. The series is titled "Cross," with the character described by Amazon as "brilliant, flawed, and full of contradictions." The character is a dedicated father and family man, but is said to be on a one-track mind bordering on obsession when it comes to hunting down killers. After the murder of his wife, Cross appears to be broken beyond repair, "desperate for love [...] but too damaged to receive it."

Showtime has canceled the drama series “City on a Hill” after three seasons.
According to insiders, the decision was made months ago, long before the recent exit of David Nevins as chairman and CEO of Paramount Premium Group and subsequent move to put Showtime under the purview Chris McCarthy.
“‘City on a Hill’ concluded its successful run on Showtime with its Season 3 finale,” the statement from Showtime reads. “We have had nothing but the best experience working with Kevin Bacon, Aldis Hodge and the entire cast and crew, led by showrunner Tom Fontana and fellow executive producers including Jennifer Todd and Jorge Zamacona. We offer our sincerest thanks to everyone.”
Created by Chuck Mclean, the series followed seasoned FBI agent Jackie Rohr (Bacon) and city prosecutor (Hodge) as they worked as partners to crack cases and straighten out crime in Boston. Lauren E. Banks, Jill Hennessy and Matthew Del Negro were also among the cast.

The holiday season is almost here and Amazon Prime is getting in the mood with its list of December 2021 releases. Sure there are the usual Christmas movies to be found but the real gift this month are two big original titles.
The sixth and final season of beloved sci-fi series The Expanse premieres on Dec. 10. Amazon is doing its usual release strategy of three episodes on the premiere day followed by a weekly schedule so there’s still some time to be spent with the crew of the Rocinante. The other big ticket item is the Desi and Lucy biopic Being the Ricardos on Dec. 21. Sure, Aaron Sorkin seems to be completely disinterested in I Love Lucy and Nicole Kidman bears no passing resemblance to the iconic comedienne whatsoever but uh…it’s a movie!

Nearly everyone we meet in “The Protégé” is on the brink of retirement, all but one or two of them nudged violently in that direction by Maggie Q’s title character. Anna specializes in finding things “that don’t want to be found”, but her true gift seems to lie in disposing of them once they’ve been located, which Q handily demonstrates in the operation that opens the movie, one that ends with a hard-to-reach Russian crime boss floating face down in his private pool.
Anna is ruthlessly efficient, but also works best as a team, paired with mentor Moody (Samuel L. Jackson) in a combo one wishes the good folks at Millennium had thought of long before. Here, the combo was suggested by “The Equalizer” writer Richard Wenk, and while his script is pure pulp, the execution assumes an air of plausibility in the hands of “Casino Royale” director Martin Campbell.

On Tuesday night, the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences voted for this year’s Governors Awards. Honorary Oscar winners are publicist Marvin Levy, composer Lalo Schifrin, and actress Cicely Tyson. The Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award will go to producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshal, all presented at the Academy’s 10th Annual Governors Awards on Sunday, November 18, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center.
This was a relatively happy and carefree decision. Still on the table is the fate of the Best Popular Film award, which was the subject of much discussion at the Telluride Film Festival, where the Academy throws an annual party. Constantin Film and Prime Universe Films are adapting Vault Comic’s best-selling and acclaimed epic feminist comic book series “Heathen,” into a major motion picture, the company announced today.
Kerry Williamson set to write. Williamson previously penned the Tyler Perry-starring “Alex Cross” and most recently the Netflix film “What Happened to Monday.” She is also currently working on an adaptation of the fantasy series “Sandman Slim” for director Chad Stahelski and Studio 8.
Written and drawn by Natasha Alterici, “Heathen” centers on Aydis, a young female viking, a warrior, an outcast, and a self-proclaimed “heathen”. Born into a time of warfare, suffering, and subjugation of women, she is on a mission to end the oppressive reign of the god-king Odin.

The Hurricane Heist is a curiously bland film. When one opts for a title as knowingly ludicrous as The Hurricane Heist, you expect something trashy and splashy, but in a fun, silly way. Nobody goes into The Hurricane Heist expecting high art. Nor should you. It’s called The Hurricane Heist after all. Delusions of grandeur are strictly void. And there are certainly moments of over-the-top ridiculousness to be found in the newest film from Rob Cohen, the director behind the original The Fast and the Furious and other less-than-noteworthy titles like xXx, Stealth, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and Alex Cross. Sitting at otherwise-agreeable 103 minutes, however, Cohen’s latest film is an amusingly absurd action-thriller that’s stretched out at least an hour longer than it has any right to be. Suffice to say, it doesn’t blow you away.
