The Big Bang Theory’s Kunal Nayyar will star in Gurinder Chadha’s next film, Christmas Karma. It’s due out this December.
News has emerged about Gurinder Chadha’s next project, confirmed to be an adaptation of A Christmas Carol.
Titled Christmas Karma, the film will star Kunal Nayyar as Scrooge. He’ll be joined by an ensemble cast that includes Eva Longoria, Boy George, Billy Porter, Hugh Bonneville, Leo Suter, Charithra Chandran, Pixie Lott, Danny Dyer, Bilal Hasna, Allan Corduner, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Rufus Jones, Eve, and Nitin Ganatra.
We can’t say we expected to see Danny Dyer, Boy George and Billy Porter in the same film, but there we are. We also reported earlier this year that the film’s Scrooge would be an “Indian Tory who hates refugees”.
Christmas Karma will also be a Bollywood-style musical; Gary Barlow is in charge of music alongside Shaznay Lewis and Nitin Sawhney.

Visual effects and animation studio Dneg, whose credits include “Dune” and “No Time to Die,” will pay enhanced overtime to its U.K. employees.
From October, Dneg will pay overtime at 1.5x rate to all U.K. staff in non-management positions for all incremental time that they are asked to work beyond the standard 40-hour week. The move will bring Dneg’s U.K. overtime policy in line with its studios in North America and applies across its film and episodic visual effects, Dneg Animation and ReDefine operations, including its artist, production, technology and support teams.
The decision is a departure from the existing U.K. industry norm, where employees are compensated for overtime with paid time off after a project is completed.
Dneg has won multiple awards over the years. In 2021 alone, the company won the visual effects BAFTA and Oscar for Christopher Nolan‘s “Tenet.”

Oh dear: there's trouble in Strictly Come Dancing paradise. Judge Craig Revel Horwood has been stirring the pot by suggesting that pro Kristina Rihanoff was "gutted" to be paired with Daniel O'Donnell, while another report suggested that Oti Mabuse thought her celeb Anthony Ogogo was an "arsehole" before they started working together (Anthony's insisted that's not true).
But both of those duos could have had it a lot worse, as these six disastrous partnerships from the past prove:
1. Lynda Bellingham & Darren Bennett (series seven, 2009)
How far did they get? Finished in 13th place
What's the problem? We didn't know it at the time, but Lynda's widower Michael Pattemore revealed in his book My Lynda that she didn't get on with her partner Darren - because he was a "miserable git" who wanted to dance solidly with No Fun Allowed. Channel 4 has decided not to bring back The Singer Takes It All for a second series, according to Broadcast.
Alan Carr's singing contest with a difference failed to bring in big ratings for the channel when it first aired last summer.
The four-part series allowed viewers to vote in real-time for their favourite performers via an app.
Those who impressed the most were moved to a 'Gold Zone', and the contestant who stayed there the longest won a £15,000 cash prize.
Singer Steve Dorsett won three of the four shows, as well as total earnings of £42,600.
Paddy McGuinness, Rizzle Kicks, Pixie Lott and Jason Manford were among the celebrity guests during the series, while former X Factor singer Brenda Edwards appeared as a giant set of lips which commentated each episode.
The show had a consolidated audience of around 1.1 million, while its finale was seen by just over 800,000.

Golly, they left that to the last minute, didn't they? The coaches on The Voice UK have now completed their teams after the last episode of blind auditions - but for a while we weren't sure if they'd manage it, as Sir Tom and will.i.am left it to the final two acts. Talk about cutting it fine.
We don't actually know how they found time to turn for the six final acts in between all the confetti cannon hiding (will.i.am being sheepish is the best), dancing and singing to S Club's 'Reach', and general Ricky Wilson silliness (including, er, a striptease), but they did! Read on as we assess those lucky six (and the poor eight who didn't make it...)

Simon Webbe, Frankie Bridge, Caroline Flack or Mark Wright would all make worthy winners of Strictly Come Dancing when the final airs this Saturday (December 20).

After watching the first couple of weeks of Strictly Come Dancing this year, Simon was most definitely not on people's shortlist for the final.
He was a competent enough dancer, previously coming joint third on the Strictly Christmas Special back in 2011.
But viewers were no doubt surprised that the energetic singer was not getting the scores someone of his physique and background would usually achieve on the show, and soon Simon found himself struggling to get over 30 points from the judges.

Jake Wood became the 11th celebrity to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing on tonight's show (December 14).
The EastEnders star found himself in the dance-off alongside Mark Wright and Karen Hauer, before the judges decided that it was time for Wood to say goodbye to the competition a week before the final. But was it the right choice?

Just 38.08% of voters thought that the judges were correct in sending home Lott, while 61.92% believed that she deserved to stay for another week.

Simon Webbe was worried the public would ''hate'' him after he beat Pixie Lott in the 'Strictly Come Dancing' dance-off. The rugby star, who with professional partner Iveta Lukosiute became the fourth couple to exit the show in October this year, revealed he was impressed with dancing novice and reality TV star Wright.
Speaking to Digital Spy and others at The Sun's Military Awards in London last night (December 10), Evans admitted he couldn't predict a winner due to all the talent, saying: "This year the standard is so high, and the remaining contestants – any one of them can really win it.
"I'm really happy to see Mark doing so well because he's had no dancing experience whatsoever but you know, I can't call it at all."
When asked if he was annoyed that Judy Murray was still in the show after he left, he added: "No. I mean, I think Judy – she brought so much enjoyment in her own.

Len: "You're not a careful dancer. In gambling terms you went all in, you gave it all you got!"
3. Sunetra Sarker & Brendan Cole's rumba: 5-7-8-7 (27)

"You are fast becoming a serious contender."
It wasn't long ago that we thought Simon Webbe was a Strictly goner.
He seemed disinterested and unhappy, and every Saturday night seemed more of a chore than a joy. The smile he carried around the dancefloor with partner Kristina Rihanoff felt forced, and his demeanour dour. Meanwhile, speaking to Claudia and Zoe post-performance, he lacked oomph.
It wasn't surprising that he landed in the bottom two twice. Although his dancing was competent, there was no heart to what he was doing - and sat at home, it was practically impossible to warm to him. His attitude was as stiff as Judy's Charleston.
Speaking to Digital Spy last week, Simon even admitted that he just wasn't enjoying Strictly Come Dancing when he started.
"Every time I stepped out on the dancefloor, I just felt like a fish in a fishbowl," he told us.

Virtually Famous has been recommissioned for two more series.
Glee star Kevin McHale will return to host the panel show, which has been renewed by E4 for two sets of 10 episodes.
Team captains Seann Walsh and Chris Stark will also be returning.
Executive producer Dan Baldwin said: "We're delighted that Virtually Famous has been recommissioned for two more series. It has been fantastic to see Kevin McHale, Seann Walsh and Chris Stark gel together so well on-screen.
"I hope Chris Stark survives these new shows. Last series he was punched by David Haye, had his face sellotaped up by Pixie Lott and was dressed as a woman and put on a dating website. I wish Chris the best of luck for series two and three."
Virtually Famous puts two celebrity teams up against each other as they battle for points over viral online videos and memes.
