Despite evident passion from the film-makers, this personal transformation through sporting achievement story borders on parody
Traditionally, genre labels gave a broad sense of what kind of experience you might be in for, whether horror, comedy or action. In the streaming era, things are much more specific, with platforms such as Netflix offering ever more niche microgenres: “Cynical Comedies Featuring a Strong Female Lead” for example, or “Classic Feelgood Opposites-Attract Movies”. Bobcat Moretti feels tailor-made for this kind of categorisation. Here we have an “Inspirational Personal Transformation Following Tragic Life Event Sports Movie”, in which a man with multiple sclerosis takes up boxing as part of an effort to turn his life around after a horrific family tragedy.
The passion and commitment of the film-makers are evident. Starring as the eponymous Bobcat, Tim Realbuto also co-wrote the script (with director Rob Margolies) and lost 70kg (11st) during the course of making the film.

The upcoming dramedy “In Fidelity” takes viewers through a surprising, difficult-to-answer question: Can you get a hall pass from your spouse if you’re dying?
Starring “Saturday Night Live” alum Chris Parnell and Cara Buono, “In Fidelity” tells the story of Lyle and Holly, a happily married New York couple whose world is rocked when Holly becomes terminally ill — and asks to sleep with their well-known rock star neighbor (Dennis Haysbert) before she dies young.
It’s not an easy ask, even after Lyle says yes, and you can see for yourself in the humorously bittersweet trailer, right now at the top of the page.
Alongside Parnell, Buono and Hasbert, the film also features Willow Shields (‘’The Hunger Games’’) as their risk-taking Gen-z daughter, and Illeana Douglas (“Grace of My Heart”) as Lyle and Holly’s eccentric confidante Ethel.

"What do you think it says about us as a society that the bad guys are always more fun?" Different Duck Films has released an official trailer for an indie horror-thriller anthology film called Immortal, which premiered at the Screamfest Horror Festival last year. It's written, directed and produced by Rob Margolies, featuring a star-studded cast headlined by Tony Todd, Dylan Baker, Robin Bartlett, Samm Levine, Vanessa Lengies, and Agnes Bruckner. "Thrown into the face of death only to emerge unharmed, the characters of Immortal are left staring at eternity in the face with uncertainty and fear like they've never imagined." A chilling horror anthology film told in four chapters, Immortal boasts career-best performances from a cast that also includes Mario Van Peebles, Lindsay Mushett, and Jason Stuart. Yes this has a solid cast, but the segments seem quite derivative - stories about immortality, another game of hunt-or-be-hunted in the woods,...

From MTV Movies: Last October, after being handed the script for "She Wants Me" by a friend and producer on the indie comedy, Charlie Sheen signed on to play a small role — an outsize version of himself also named Charlie Sheen. He shot his scenes over the course of a few days, and according to writer/director Rob Margolies, was "on time every day and really reliable and always in a good mood."
But speaking to MTV News on Wednesday from Los Angeles, where he's in post-production on the movie, the filmmaker said that the Sheen he's seen in countless recent TV interviews — talking about melting faces and armless children on "Good Morning America," for example — bears little resemblance to the man who was nothing but professional on set.
"Charlie wasn't like that at all," Margolies said. "He was completely in control and not on the defensive. No one ever felt uncomfortable.

Hollywoodnews.com: Charlie Sheen’s first role following his day-long hospital stay should be an easy one for him. He’s expected to play himself in a brief cameo for a film being directed by a close friend.
The project, more than likely, is Rob Margolies’ “She Wants Me,” an independent comedy starring Hilary Duff that’s filming in Los Angeles. Variety reported earlier this week that Sheen would cameo as himself in the film, while People writes this morning that Sheen was anxious to get back to work.
“Charlie will be working this week doing a cameo role, playing himself, in a small movie as a favor to a friend and has every intention of going back to work on ‘Two and a Half Men’ on Tuesday,” said his manager, Mark Burg.
The 45-year-old actor was hospitalized after police found him to be intoxicated and in need of medical treatment.

"Lifelines," a movie which film critic Roger Ebert described as a "fine, strong film" debuted at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival recently. Written and directed by Rob Margolies, the film features a family named the Bernsteins, who may be the most dysfunctional family since Robert Redford's "Ordinary People."
Celebrity News Service talked to the 25-year-old director about the drama, and the fact that his goal is to create films, win Oscars and succeed in life by following his dreams. It took Margolies two years to secure the financing for "Lifelines," and during that time he never gave up and kept chasing his dreams. In the end, he succeeded, and created a movie that has been picked up for distribution. The cast of "Lifelines" includes Jane Adams, Joe Morton, Josh Pais, Jacob Kogan, Dreama Walker and Robbie Sublett.
