Peacock’s Bel-Air has set Thursday, August 15 as the show’s premiere of its third season. The premiere will feature three new episodes and Deadline has first-look photos of the season to view below.
In Season 3, school’s out for the summer, and Will (Jabari Banks) is doing Bel-Air his way. Being a part of the Banks family has given him a new perspective – it isn’t just about wealth, it means that Will now has options to lean into other things that excite him and has the privilege to dream bigger. As Will makes an exciting pivot, he finds a partner in Carlton (Olly Sholotan), who desperately wants to leave his life of addiction behind and rebuild his damaged reputation. And while the dynamic duo has a lot of exciting wins, working together also reveals fundamental differences in their backgrounds and worldviews. Can a partnership of such extremes work?...

"I don't know if it was meant for life outside The Bronx..." Kino Lorber has unveiled an official trailer for an indie film titled Story Ave, which is the name of the subway stop in The Bronx where part of this film takes place (though not actually a real stop). This first premiered at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival earlier this year, where it won the Best Cinematography prize. The story follows a teenage graffiti artist who runs away from home in New York City and holds up an unwary Mta subway worker in a robbery gone "right" that would change their lives forever. They begin a friendship and Kadir starts to see the potential in his artistic talent. Kino Lorber adds that: "This moving and authentic portrait of the South Bronx announces an exciting new cinematic voice in [director] Aristotle Torres and offers a welcome showcase for beloved character actor Guzman...

Note: The following includes spoilers from the “Bel-Air” Season 2 finale.
“I’m a drug addict. A really f—g good one, too. I’m high on coke most days. In fact, I’m high right now.”
The words echoed loudly as Carlton (Olly Sholotan) spoke them while accepting the Founders Award during the Season 2 finale of “Bel-Air,” as the other members of the Banks family watched in disbelief.
It’s a demon Carlton has been dealing with since Season 1, as he battles with his anxiety. No one knew about his drug problem but Will who vowed to stay quiet and in return asked his cousin to stop and lean on him instead. Aunt Viv (Cassandra Freeman) and Uncle Phil (Adrian Holmes) were none the wiser but knew something was bothering their son.

Amidst the drama of Peacock’s reimagining of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, there’s one thing everyone can agree on: The fashion is on point. In fact, when TV Insider asked the Bel-Air cast to name the best-dressed character on the show, while one name did keep coming up, more than one person acknowledged it was a tough question. “Queensylvia [Akuchie] is the most amazing costume designer,” Cassandra Freeman (who plays Vivian Banks) raved. “I think some of my costumes are incredible, but then I watch the show … it’s a tie for me.” Adrian Holmes (who plays Philip Banks) echoed her praise for their designer. “Everybody’s really fitted, especially this season. We’ve elevated the wardrobe,” he said. Jimmy Akingbola had no issues answering the question, naming his own character, Geoffrey. “Honestly, I’m in tears of joy every time I walk into the costume room,” he shared.

During his early years of theater and indie film acting, Luiz Guzmán did a spell as a youth counselor in New York City. The actor with a grizzled countenance and a world-weary voice appears to have tapped into those memories for drama “Story Ave.” The actor brings an anchoring warmth to his portrayal of the Mta conductor who is held up by the unsure and anguished, but also infuriating, protagonist in Aristotle Torres’ affecting debut feature (co-written with Bonsu Thompson).

Will Smith’s big break in acting was the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The show capitalized on Smith’s natural charisma and humor and proved he was more than just a rapper. Creator Benny Medina and producer Quincy Jones took a chance on Smith that paid off. The show lasted six seasons before Smith became such a big movie star, it was time to end the show. All six seasons of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air are streaming on HBO Max. If you like Fresh Prince of Bel-Air here are five other shows you may like too.

There’s a double meaning to the title of writer-director Aristotle Torres’ debut feature, Story Ave, that neatly sums up what this homegrown NYC coming-of-age drama is all about.
On the one hand, it refers to the fictitious Bronx subway station where its main character, a young and troubled graffiti artist named Kadir, has an encounter that will put him on either the right or wrong path for the future. On the other, it underlines the storybook quality of a movie that, although entrenched in certain socioeconomic realities, veers toward fantasy in some unexpected ways.
Torres, adapting with co-writer Bonsu Thompson from a short they made together in 2018, jumps back and forth between the two elements throughout Story Ave, which takes familiar tropes of the urban youth genre (gang violence, domestic troubles, peer pressure, guns and drugs) and, in its most memorable moments, turns them into something slightly magical. The...

Hoops-loving teen and Philly transplant Will Smith (Jabari Banks) may be the central character in this contemporary drama that reimagines the 90’s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air but one of the things to cheer about in this series is that it tells the story of an entire family; each person is always growing and changing, and that individual journey affects the whole. Take Will’s aunt Vivian Banks (Cassandra Freeman), who fights the good fight in Season 2: both in her job as an artist and over the firing of one of the few Black teachers at her children’s elite school. Over the course of the season, the question for Viv becomes: “Is she brave enough to figure out how to speak for herself? It’s the journey of, ‘how do you claim your voice?” Freeman says. “She’s also trying to stand up for her kids. How...

“Bel-Air” showrunner and executive producer Carla Banks-Waddles says the show’s writers got the messages loud and clear from fans and the cast about what they’d like to see for Season 2 – and those ideas are being weighed and considered.
Peacock’s most-watched original series is back with a fresh new season, and Banks-Waddles says a lot of the storylines in Season 2 were a mix of writers’ ideas and what fans reacted to from Season 1.
“I think it was a combination of knowing the conversations we were having in Season 1,” Banks-Waddles told TheWrap. “[Writers] were like, ‘Oh, maybe that’s something to look harder at. What’s that storyline?’ People really loved Jazz and Hillary in Season 1. What is Uncle Phil doing now that he quit the D.A. race in Season 1? What was he doing before he did that? Peacock's revival of "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" reunites us with some of our favorite characters, in new form. Newcomer Jabari Banks steps into Will Smith's shoes as Will, while Adrian Holmes plays Banks family patriarch Philip Banks. Vivian (Cassandra Freeman), Carlton (Olly Sholotan), Hilary (Coco Jones), and Ashley Banks's (Akira Akbar) roles have also been recast, while April Parker Jones plays Will's mother. And during the show's season one finale, we finally reunited with Will's father, Lou.
For those who don't remember, Lou (originally played by Ben Vareen) abandoned his family in "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" when Will was just 5 years old, leaving Vy to raise Will on her own. Per Hilary, he was "a deadbeat who left him and his mom flat." Lou went on to become a trucker and was absent for most of Will's life until season four, episode 24 ("Papa's Got a Brand...

Last year, “Bel-Air” caught everyone by surprise. Reboots don’t usually stand toe to toe with the original. And the smart thing about Peacock’s “Bel-Air” was it didn’t try to copy its classic and still highly syndicated inspiration, “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” Instead, it recognized the times and did a deep dive into issues a Black cast comedy could only touch on over 30 years ago. So intra-racial class issues, mental health, jealousy and more became the primary topics in the drama format sparked by a viral video from Morgan Cooper who dared to reimagine the classic. Plus, “Bel-Air” wasn’t afraid to shake up the casting, favoring actors with darker complexions while still maintaining the spirit of the original. With that kind of success, of course the second season is highly anticipated and burdened with the question of “Will it be as good as the first?”

Exclusive: Peacock has rounded out the recurring cast for Season 2 of Bel-Air with newcomer Al-Shabazz Jabateh (Prime Day Show), Nicholas Duvernay (Purple Hearts), Diandra Lyle (Secrets of Sulphur Springs), Justin Cornwell (The Umbrella Academy) and Reno Wilson (Good Girls).
Bel-Air, based on Morgan Cooper’s popular fan film that reenvisions the 1990s Will Smith sitcom The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air as a drama, hails from Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith’s Westbrook Studios and Universal Television, part of Universal Studio Group. In its first season, it became Peacock’s most streamed original series.
Set in modern-day America, Bel-Air follows Will’s (Jabari Banks) complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. As these two worlds collide, Will reckons with the power of second chances while navigating the conflicts, emotions, and biases of a world far different from the only one he’s ever known.

Bel-Air is one of the most refreshing TV reboots on air. Based on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, the series follows Will Smith (Jabari Banks), a 17-year-old who moves from West Philadelphia to Bel-Air to live with his affluent Aunt Viv (Cassandra Freeman) and Uncle Phil (Adrian Holmes). Though he immediately bonds with his older cousin Hilary (Coco Jones), an influencer and aspiring chef, and his young cousin Ashley (Akira Akbar), his cousin Carlton (Olly Sholotan) is a different story.
Though the series centers on Will, Hilary and her relationship with Will’s best friend Jazz (Jordan L. Jones) is set to have some major steam and drama in season 2.
