Jeraldine Saunders, author of the 1974 book “The Love Boats” that inspired the classic ABC series “The Love Boat,” died on Monday at her home in Glendale, Calif., due to complications from kidney stone surgery. She was 96.
The book is Saunders’ firsthand account as the first female cruise director for a major cruise line, Princess Cruises. The series, developed by W.L. Baumes, was billed as “Suggested by Jeraldine Saunders’ ‘The Love Boats” in the show’s opening credit sequence.
“The Love Boat” bowed on ABC in the 1976-1977 season as three TV movies. The show became a regular weekly series on ABC in the 1977-1978 season and ran for some 250 episodes, through the 1985-86 season. A handful of new “Love Boat” specials also aired on ABC the following season.
At the time of her death, Saunders was the daily writer of Omarr’s Astrological Forecast, Tribune Media’s syndicated astrology column.

Louisa Moritz, an actress who appeared in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and brought a good-natured joy to a stereotypical blonde bombshell persona in early ’70s fare like Love, American Style and Match Game but in more recent years joined other women in accusing Bill Cosby of sexual assault, has died from a longstanding heart ailment, her longtime friend and publicist Edward Lozzi announced.
Moritz was 72 and died at her home last week in Los Angeles of natural causes.
In Cuckoo’s Nest, Moritz played Rose, a small but pivotal performance in which her good-time pal of Jack Nicholson’s R.P. McMurphy sneaks into the mental hospital for the against-the-rules party that leads to tragedy. In one memorable moment, she slow-dances sweetly with Danny Devito’s childlike Martini, his head resting upon her breast.

Well, it seems Courtney Stodden definitely has a "type." Weeks after announcing a split from her husband Doug Hutchison, the 19-year-old has been spotted out and about with another older man. In fact, the new guy is the same age as Doug. Go figure.
Stodden was photographed stepping out with 53-year-old Edward Lozzi, a former White House staffer. What's more interesting is he also briefly dated Anna Nicole Smith, who had a bit of a thing for older men at one point as well.
Stodden's manager tells E! Online, who has photos of the two, that they aren't an item, but do it in the creepiest possible way, saying, "It's just innocent fun. It seems like lots of guys have a hard time keeping their hands off of her. She is enjoying being 19. She deserves it."

Lauter died of mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer most commonly caused by asbestos exposure, said his publicist, Edward Lozzi.
Whether he was an irascible authority figure, a brutal thug or a conniving con man, Lauter's presence made him all but impossible to miss in any film he was in. That was so even on those occasions when he was playing a character more bumbling than menacing, although menacing was clearly his forte.
He was the brutal prison guard who was Burt Reynolds' nemesis in the 1974 comedy-drama "The Longest Yard" and the sleazy gas station attendant in Alfred Hitchcock's last film, "The Family Plot.

Friends of slain actress Lana Clarkson protested outside a screening of the HBO film Phil Spector on Thursday, charging the Al Pacino-toplined project with implying that she committed suicide. Clarkson was found dead in 2003 inside the Alhambra mansion of record producer Phil Spector, who in 2009 was convicted of second-degree murder in her death and sentenced to 19 years to life in prison. One of the protesters, veteran publicist and former Clarkson rep Edward Lozzi, told The Hollywood Reporter the group initially hoped to stop the film from being made, but had refocused its efforts on ensuring

Friends and family of tragic actress Lana Clarkson are demanding to know why a new TV movie about record producer Phil Spector's lengthy murder trial is on lockdown.
Spector was convicted of Clarkson's 2003 murder in 2009 and is currently serving 19 years to life in a California prison.
As HBO bosses and moviemaker David Mamet piece together the details of the murder trial for an untitled new movie, starring Al Pacino as the disgraced music mogul, a group calling itself The Friends of Lana Clarkson has demanded to check scripts and plot lines to make sure Clarkson isn't misrepresented in the film.
But group leader Edward Lozzi, a publicist who once represented the late actress, insists there's something wrong with all the secrecy surrounding the set and even words of comfort from Helen Mirren, who portrays Spector's lawyer in the film, aren't enough to appease family and friends.
Lozzi says, "HBO and David Mamet still refuse to show us any facts or script pages concerning how our friend Lana Clarkson is portrayed. We are wondering why HBO has shut down their sets to press, and shut down their own press staff from giving any information about Lana's role to the media."
His comments come a day after Mirren issued a statement to The Press Association, assuring Clarkson's supporters she will not be trashing the actress in the film.
She said, "Lana was obviously a really, really lovely woman and, quite rightly, her friends are worried that she will be dissed and she is certainly not dissed in our story at all."
Lozzi adds, "We are very grateful to Helen Mirren for having the courtesy and understanding to come forward with her statements which are promising. However we are still concerned about the troubling statements that David Mamet made to (newspaper) the Financial Times that he feels Phil Spector is innocent, that he should not be in prison, and that no one knows what really happened the night Spector murdered Lana Clarkson.
"All of these statements Mamet made are untrue and a slap in the face to American jurisprudence. The murderer Phil Spector is in prison for life where he belongs - a menace to society."...

Dame Helen Mirren has ignored calls to drop out of an upcoming biopic about disgraced music mogul Phil Spector.
The veteran British actress prompted outrage among friends of Spector's victim, murdered actress Lana Clarkson, after signing up to play the famed producer's attorney, Linda Kenny Braden. She stepped in to replace an injured Bette Midler in the role.
The Friends of Lana Clarkson campaigners sent a letter to warn Mirren she faces "serious consequences" if she doesn't quit the controversial film, which they fear will portray Spector in a sympathetic light.
The group's spokesperson, Edward Lozzi, tells Britain's Mail on Sunday, "We have great respect for Helen Mirren. What we hope is that when she reads this script and sees Lana is being trashed, she will speak up and say, 'This is not right.'
"Helen Mirren probably didn't know about The Friends of Lana Clarkson when she agreed to take the role - it would have been just another job to her. But now that she is aware, we ask her to examine her conscience."
A representative confirms that The Queen star has received the letter but refuses to walk away from the project.
The spokesperson explains, "She's in the movie. She's not dropping out. That's all she's saying."
Al Pacino has begun filming his role as Spector in the HBO movie, which will chronicle the record producer's first trial for the 2003 shooting of actress Lana Clarkson at his home. The case resulted in a mistrial in 2007, but in 2009, a second trial ended with a conviction and a 19-year prison sentence for Spector.

Furious friends of murdered actress Lana Clarkson are planning a campaign demanding TV industry bosses shun a controversial movie about her killer, Phil Spector.
Al Pacino is stepping into the role of the incarcerated music producer for David Mamet's upcoming film, but the playwright sparked speculation it will be a sympathetic portrayal of Spector after recently insisting the music mogul should not have been jailed.
A close pal of Clarkson, media executive Edward Lozzi, has written to Mamet demanding to know how the late actress will be depicted in the HBO movie - and he wants to urge industry bosses to ban the film from award nominations.
Lozzi is angry after Mamet claimed there is "reasonable doubt" over Spector's conviction, and he tells TheWrap.com, "Is that the way it's going to be portrayed? That means automatically he is going to portray Lana Clarkson as being responsible for her own death... (If he does), we intend to put a campaign on with the Academy members to make sure there are no Emmy nominations for a motion picture that's a lie and hurts people who are alive today."
He also revealed he's written a letter to Mamet, asking: "Will you portray her as the loving beautiful actress and comedian she was...? Or will you go the low road as did 'Team Spector,' portraying her as a casting couch dope-whore hell bent on picking up Spector for kicks and then blowing her brains out in his back doorway, depressed about turning 40?"
Lozzi insists Mamet has not responded to the note.

David Mamet’s newest project – an HBO movie about record producer and murderer Phil Spector – is under fire from friends of the woman whom the crazy-haired Spector is convicted of killing. Friends of Lana Clarkson are afraid of how Mamet will portray the late actress, and are threatening to protest the movie and organize a campaign to keep it from winning any Emmy Awards. It’s a high-wattage project: Al Pacino plays Spector, with Bette Midler and Jeffrey Tambor as his lawyers. But Edward Lozzi, a public relations executive who told TheWrap he...

Ailing actress Zsa Zsa Gabor's daughter has slammed the star's husband Prince Frederic Von Anhalt over plans to have a child via a surrogate.
Von Anhalt, 67, revealed on Thursday he is considering becoming a father, saying, "It was always my wife's dream for us to have a child... and even though we won't be using any of her eggs, she would be thrilled to know I'm going through with this."
But Gabor's only child Francesca Hilton is fuming about Von Anhalt's public statement, slamming her stepfather for creating publicity while her mother, who has been in and out of hospital since she fell and broke her hip last summer, is sick.
Her spokesman Edward Lozzi tells the Afp, "Francesca is shocked but not surprised that vonanahlt (sic) continually creates publicity for himself at the expense of the legacy of her mother Zsa Zsa Gabor.
"We are still trying to get over his wish to have Zsa Zsa's body preserved and displayed. What's next from von Anhalt? Zsa Zsa clones?"
However, Von Anhalt has brushed off Hilton's remarks, responding: "She doesn't know anything. She's not involved in the family, she doesn't know what's going on. Whatever she says, I really don't give a damn."...

Zsa Zsa Gabor appears to be defying death once again after coughing up blood at her Beverly Hills home on Tuesday.
The actress was taken back to hospital for treatment of a possible lung infection, according to her husband Prince Frederic von Anhalt, who feared the worst.
But the 93 year old is refusing to go without a fight - and Edward Lozzi, a spokesman for Gabor's daughter Francesca Hilton, reveals the ailing actress is not in critical condition.
He says, "She's sitting up and awake. She's not on any oxygen or ventilator."
Lozzi and Hilton have been at odds with von Anhalt over his reports to the media about his wife's health ever since she fell and broke her hip at home last summer.
Gabor has been in and out of hospital ever since and in January she had part of her leg amputated to stop the spread of gangrene.
Von Anhalt said Gabor was admitted to UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center in Westwood last week after her blood pressure spiked following the news of the death of her friend Elizabeth Taylor.
Lozzi disputed the story, insisting his client was told that her mother had not been admitted to hospital.
The publicist states Hilton is glad her estranged mother is in hospital again - because she knows she is being cared for there.
Lozzi tells the Los Angeles Times newspaper, "It's the only time Francesca knows her mother is being cared for properly and knows exactly what's happening with her mother."...

Zsa Zsa Gabor's daughter Francesca Hilton is scoffing at reports her mum and stepfather have put their Bel Air mansion on the market, insisting the $28 million (18.6 million) asking price is too inflated to be true.
Socialite Hilton also insists her stepfather, Prince Frederic Von Anhalt, has no right to sell the famous 26-room property because a pre-nuptial agreement he signed before marrying Gabor in the 1980s forbids him from profiting from the mansion.
Hilton's publicist Edward Lozzi says, "The price is so inflated that it is not considered to be seriously for sale here in Beverly Hills Real Estate circles.
"Also it was revealed during investigations in a previous lawsuit between Von Anhalt and Hilton, that Von Anhalt gave up all financial interests to the house. Documents are on public record.
"Hilton claims that Von Anhalt has no right to sell the house or partake in the assets of same, unless he can prove otherwise."
Meanwhile, Gabor is recovering after half of her right leg was amputated last Friday.
Gabor's hospital recovery could take up to four weeks, but the actress' spokesman John Blanchette is hopeful the star will be able to return home in time to celebrate her 94th birthday on 6 February.

Zsa Zsa Gabor's daughter has been denied access to the Hollywood veteran as doctors attempt to save her leg. Francesca Hilton is upset with her stepfather Prince Frederic von Anhalt and doctors at UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center in Los Angeles for refusing to let her visit her ailing mum.

"Francesca has been entirely at the mercy of Mr. Von Anhalt, who has for the most part banned her from visiting her mother at home and now in the hospital. This is a cruel and pathetic situation for Francesca who will not be with her mother in this critical period which could be the last hours of her life."
Lozzi reveals his client has resorted to desperate methods to get access to her 93-year-old mother.
He adds, "Francesca found and entered the offices of David Feinberg, CEO of Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where Zsa Zsa is entered under a false name. After inquiring about the whereabouts of her mother and the reasons she was being blocked from seeing her, Mr. Feinberg's response was, 'I will ask Mr. von Anhalt if he would change his mind and allow you access.'
"Von Anhalt responded to Feinberg that Francesca could see her mother afterwards, but it was not quite clear what 'afterwards' meant."
Von Anhalt, who has been at odds with his stepdaughter for years, revealed on Friday he had given medics the Ok to amputate his wife's leg.
Gabor was taken to the hospital a week ago after a lesion on her leg became gangrenous.
At press time, it is still not known if doctors have been able to save the actress' leg after operating on a blood clot.

Although Zsa Zsa Gabor was readmitted to hospital on Tuesday, August 31, the actress' daughter Constance Francesca Hilton insisted that Gabor is now stable and not in a life-threatening situation. According to Los Angeles Times, Hilton has released a statement through her spokesman Edward Lozzi, saying "Reports of my mother's passing are hurtful and unprofessional."
Additionally, Gabor's publicist, John Blanchette, told TMZ that doctors have stabilized the ailing star's condition although she is still undergoing certain tests. Blanchette further revealed that he is "hopeful she'll be released tonight."
Gabor was rushed to hospital after her husband Prince Frederic von Anhalt found her "unresponsive". The site claimed the person who made 911 call from the actress' house mentioned flu-like symptoms and body pain. And just like Gabor's daughter has revealed, the actress' life was not in immediate danger as a private ambulance which took her to hospital didn't use emergency lights flashing.

A new war between Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband and daughter is brewing over reports the actress is battling pneumonia and influenza.
Gabor's husband Frederic Von Anhalt told U.S. news organisations Gabor, who is Paris Hilton's great aunt through marriage, had returned to her home in Los Angeles after spending six days in hospital, sparking concern from fans and friends.
But her daughter, Constance Francesca Hilton, insists the actress is fine, and devotees needn't worry about the 92 year old's health.
Hilton's publicist Edward Lozzi says, "Major news outlets are running an erroneous story allegedly given to the major wire services by Frederick von Anhalt. (They've) received bogus information that she was hospitalised and suffering from life threatening pneumonia."
Gabor's daughter adds, "My mother is home, I just got off the phone with her and she is fine and denies having been at any hospital this week and certainly does not have pneumonia."
Constance Hilton claims her mother has been inundated with get well messages and flowers - and the actress is keen for the deliveries to stop.
She urges fans to, "Please stop sending calls and messages of concern, and flowers."
Constance is Gabor's only child. Her father is the actress' ex-husband Conrad Hilton, the founder of the Hilton Hotel corporation.

Police in San Francisco, California are one step closer to unmasking the city serial killer who inspired Jake Gyllenhaal movie Zodiac after a woman claiming to be the stepdaughter of the sick murderer agreed to speak to investigators.
Deborah Perez claims spectacles she snatched from Guy Ward Hendricksen's last victim will prove that he was the fiend who terrorised San Francisco, California in the late 1960s and avoided capture.
The police investigation into the Zodiac Killer murders was revisited in the 2007 film, which starred Gyllenhaal and Robert Downey, Jr.
Perez has kept her dreadful memories to herself for 40 years - because she witnessed at least two of her father's slayings and even helped pen several of the mocking notes he sent to police.
And she reveals that, as a child, she embroidered a mask the Zodiac Killer wore on his killing sprees.
Hendricksen died in 1983 after losing his battle with cancer.
Perez, now a real estate broker, insists she never realised her late stepfather was the Zodiac Killer until the film prompted fresh interest in the case, and U.S. TV news show America's Most Wanted revisited the killings. Upon seeing a police sketch of the sick murderer, she realised it was her father.
The 47 year old met with homicide detectives on Wednesday after top forensic experts declared handwriting analysis and psychological evidence proves Perez's participation in the infamous Zodiac Killings.
Perez has been asked to participate in further questioning and police have confirmed the Zodiac case is open.
Her spokesman Edward Lozzi says, "Deborah feels she owes it to the families of the victims to put this case to rest."
Perez tells WENN, "I am very pleased with the professional and official behaviour of the Sfpd's Zodiac Killer detectives. I have made myself available to them as per their request.
"It has been a tremendous sacrifice for me and my family and hopefully the case will be solved soon."...
