Millennium Films announced today that Rod Lurie (Straw Dogs, Nothing but the Truth) has been tapped to direct Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson’s (The Fighter) adaption of Jake Tapper’s The Outpost: An Untold Story Of American Valor.
Paul Merryman developed the script, which Tamasy and Johnson co-wrote, and will produce alongside Tamasy and Marc Frydman under their Battle Plan Productions banner. Jeffrey Greenstein, Jonathan Yunger, Les Weldon, and Matt O’Toole are also producing for Millennium Films, with John Thompson, Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, and Yariv Lerner executive producing.

FilmNation has come on co-produce and handles sales on the live-action feature A Tale Dark & Grimm to be directed by Henry Selick.
Marissa McMahon of New York-based Kamala Films will finance development and produce alongside FilmNation Entertainment’s Aaron Ryder and Karen Lunder. It is understood FilmNation will not commence pre-sales at next month’s Afm and will introduce the film to a subsequent market.
A Tale Dark & Grimm is based on the children’s book by Adam Gidwitz and is described as “wickedly funny, truly frightening” tale of two children who flee their own dark fairy tale and stray into eight equally fearsome adventures.
Selick’s directing credits include A Nightmare Before Christmas, James And The Giant Peach and the Oscar-nominated Coraline. He co-adapted the screenplay with John W Mann and Jon Gunn.

Dimension Films announced today that it has acquired the rights to the popular futuristic comedy guidebook How To Defeat Your Own Clone written by Kyle Kurpinski and Terry D. Johnson. Ed Ricourt who wrote the feature treatment is also set to adapt the script. Ricourt was part of the Marvel writing program, and his script Now You See Me is currently in pre-production, starring Jesse Eisenberg and to be directed by Louis Leterrier. There is no director on Clone attached at this early stage. The announcement was made by Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company (TWC).
