Chris Pine felt like more than a million bucks after being cast in “Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement” — he felt like $50 million, to be exact. Not that he made anywhere near that sum.
During an upcoming appearance on NBC News’ “Sunday Today with Willie Geist,” Pine recalled how joining the 2004 sequel film proved to be a pivotal point in his career. Pine played Prince Nicholas Devereaux who tries to woo Princess Mia (Anne Hathaway) in her ancestral home country of Genovia.
“It was the height of summer and I was getting off at Magnolia. I was on my little Verizon tiny little flip phone, my silver one, and I got a call from my agents that I booked the job,” Pine said. “I pulled over onto the side of the freeway and they said, ‘You’re getting paid $65,000,’ and it was like they had just told me I’d made $50 million.

Kevin Costner is ready to return to the director’s chair with the epic Western Horizon. Split into two parts, the saga is reportedly set before and after the events of the American Civil War. After over twenty years, the film sees the Oscar-award-winning filmmaker returning as a director. His last film as a director was Open Range.
Costner’s epic saga has been years in the making and has been the subject of controversy due to the actor’s departure from Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone to work on the film. However, one element of the two-part movie might work against the film’s success. According to a new report, the film’s first chapter has a runtime of three hours.

Billy Dee Williams, renowned for his role in The Empire Strikes Back, has opened up about a flirtatious encounter he allegedly had with Marlon Brando in his upcoming memoir titled What Have We Here?
The memoir sheds light on a party that Williams attended at Brando’s residence, accompanied by his friend James Baldwin. Williams recounts a conversation that took place between him and Brando in the library, where he sensed Brando’s romantic interest.
Williams clarified, “I prefer women.”
According to Williams, the conversation with Brando eventually shifted towards leftist politics, which provided a deeper understanding of Brando’s talents as an actor. Williams acknowledges that this experience was not the first time he has received romantic attention, and explained that he has been hit on throughout his life, regardless of the individual’s gender or sexual orientation.

The horror genre and its directors may have endured the most clashes with the Motion Picture Association and the world's other regulatory boards, but Wes Craven, Tobe Hooper, Ruggero Deodato, and a dozen other horror filmmakers are not the only ones. Numerous directors across action, drama, and even comedy have adjusted their content for release, and often at the perilous threshold between R and Nc-17.
This distinction is particularly important because some theater chains refuse to show Nc-17-certified films and several media outlets even refuse to run ads (via NPR). It's an odd streak of puritanism not found in other markets, such as the United Kingdom, where the equivalent "18" rating carries no such stigma.

According to Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese is the true godfather of modern cinema.
Coppola took to Instagram to call his “longtime friend” Scorsese the “world’s greatest living filmmaker” while including the trailer for Scorsese’s upcoming epic “Killers of the Flower Moon.”

“Killers of the Flower Moon” stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro as swindlers in 1920s Oklahoma, preying on the oil reserves of the Osage Nation. Lily Gladstone stars as DiCaprio’s onscreen wife.
Meanwhile, Coppola recently wrapped production on self-funded “Megalopolis” with Adam Driver, Talia Shire, Shia Labeouf, and Dustin Hoffman.

“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” star Evangeline Lilly is speaking up about her stance on mandated Covid vaccinations, telling Esquire that the backlash she received after attending an anti-vax rally in Washington D.C. in January 2022 was something she fully expected.
Back in 2022, Lilly revealed on Instagram that she was among the protesters at a rally in Washington opposing Covid-19 vaccine mandates. The post included black-and-white pictures taken at what appeared to be the same rally where Robert F. Kennedy Jr. compared vaccine mandates to the Holocaust.
At the time she remembered thinking, “’I know the beast that I’m attacking. I know that I have a little pebble and there’s this f–ing Goliath giant. If I shoot this pebble, it’s going to wake the giant.’”

Early in 1987, producers Larry Gordon and Joel Silver were on the hunt for an action hero. They were working on a rollercoaster tale about terrorists hijacking a high-rise tower in Los Angeles and the script called for a muscle-bound bruiser.
For contractual reasons, Frank Sinatra was top of the list for Die Hard. Ol’ Blue Eyes had first refusal as he’d been the star of 1968’s The Detective, which like Die Hard was based on author Roderick Thorp’s thriller novels.
When the 70-year-old crooner confirmed his terrorist-fighting days were long behind him, producers went straight to the most obvious candidate: Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Terminator, Commando and Predator star said no, preferring to try his hand at comedy alongside Danny DeVito in Twins. The rejections kept coming: Richard Gere, Burt Reynolds, Harrison Ford, Sylvester Stallone, Nick Nolte, Don Johnson and Mel Gibson all passed.
Way down the list was Bruce Willis.

In between pandemic musical sessions with his goats, Kevin Bacon seems to have figured out the world. From admitting to having skin too thin to read social media comments to reflecting on how volatile Hollywood can be, a revealing 2021 interview with Esquire shows that he's also learned a lot about himself and life.
So, when he admits that there's only one film role he cares to revisit in the dozens of movies he's appeared in since his 1978 debut in "Animal House," we should pay attention. Bacon has walked a fine line between leading man and this generation's greatest character actor, playing everything from the provocative new kid in town in "Footloose" to a tortured and menacing child molester in "The Woodsman."
Bacon says he prefers to move on to the next role once a project is done, although there is one film that might be worth revisiting. One might say...

Just before the release of Star Trek Beyond, J.J. Abrams announced that Star Trek 4 was already in the works and would bring back Chris Hemsworth as George Kirk, the father of Chris Pine’s James Kirk. J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay signed on to write the script, with S.J. Clarkson set to direct, but the project was shelved when negotiations with Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth fell apart. While there have been other Star Trek projects in development since then, it seems that the one involving Chris Hemsworth is well and truly dead, so the writers might as well spill the beans.

Because it served as a reimagining of Captain James T. Kirk’s adventures on the USS Enterprise, the Star Trek Kelvin trilogy mostly referenced the original series and its spin-off movies. In 2009’s Star Trek, Karl Urban’s McCoy says he’s a doctor in the same manner as DeForest Kelly. Chris Pine’s Kirk says there is no unknown, only the temporarily hidden in Star Trek Beyond, paraphrasing William Shatner’s Kirk from the Tos episode “The Corbamite Manuever.” Star Trek Into Darkness builds to the reveal that Benedict Cumberbatch’s character is actually Khan, because audiences have heard of Khan.
But for the planned fourth Kelvin movie, writers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay drew inspiration from a Next Generation episode, albeit one with Tos connections. Speaking with Esquire, Payne and McKay described their scrapped Star Trek 4 script as “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in space,” complete with...

Despite the box office success of J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek” movies, the iconic sci-fi franchise has been exclusively focused on television for the past half-decade. Paramount initially planned more sequels to the Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto-led franchise after 2016’s “Star Trek Beyond,” with everyone from Quentin Tarantino to Noah Hawley taking stabs at script ideas. “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay revealed that when they were picked to write the follow-up to the 2016 film “Star Trek: Beyond,” they had envisioned a film that would bring back Chris Hemsworth to reprise his role in the 2009 “Trek” reboot as Capt. James Kirk’s supposedly dead father, George.
Payne and McKay have spent the last five years writing scripts with billions of dollars in Amazon money behind them for “The Rings of Power,” but once upon a time, they had been attached to write the long-delayed fourth installment in Paramount’s “Star Trek” reboot film series.
Now, in an interview with Esquire, they have revealed what they had planned.
Through a quirk of Starfleet technology, Kirk’s father, George, would have found himself hurtling forward through time and coming face-to-face with his fully grown son, played by Chris Pine,...
