A new city gets to experience the horrors of Bird Box in the first official trailer for Bird Box Barcelona, a spin-off sequel to the 2018 post-apocalyptic thriller film. While bodies are falling from the sky and people are flooding public transportation trying to escape to safety, that familiar sense of unease that defined the original, which starred Sandra Bullock, begins to creep back in.

In today's news of slightly unnecessary projects, Netflix is reviving its hit original film "Bird Box" with a sequel-extension film called "Bird Box Barcelona." You read that right, we're getting another "Bird Box" film, but seemingly one that is simply adjacent to, and not a continuation of, the events of the original. Interesting.
Netflix debuted a one-minute teaser trailer for the new film — which was announced back in March 2021 — and it gives us a glimpse into a similar event as the 2018 film, only in Europe this time. There is chaos in major cities, and folks turn to obscuring their sight in the outside world in order to obtain shelter. Again, it's very much a global repositioning of the events of the first film, however, it does seem like this new story will have some of its own twists and turns.

Netflix is diving back into the post-apocalyptic world of 2018’s Bird Box with the spinoff Bird Box Barcelona. This new installment takes place in the titular city and follows different characters within the same universe as the original film. Fans can expect a similar setup but with unique storylines and perspectives.
Bird Box followed Oscar winner Sandra Bullock’s character as she struggled to keep her family safe in a world gone mad. Goya award winner Mario Casas (No matarás) takes on the starring role in the spinoff. The cast includes Georgina Campbell, Alejandra Howard, Naila Schuberth, Diego Calva, and Patrick Criado. In addition, Lola Dueñas, Gonzalo De Castro, Michelle Jenner, and Leonardo Sbaraglia also star.
Álex Pastor and David Pastor wrote the screenplay and co-directed. The post-apocalyptic thriller was produced by Dylan Clark, Chris Morgan, Núria Valls, Adrián Guerra, Josh Malerman and Ryan Lewis. Ainsley Davies and Brian Williams served as executive producers.

Bird Box, one of Netflix’s most-watched movies ever, has finally spawned a follow-up — some four-and-a-half years after the Sandra Bullock-led original broke streaming records.
Released back in December 2018, the original Bird Box followed a mother (played by Bullock) as she and her children embark on a two-day journey whilst blindfolded, to avoid eye contact with a mysterious force that is decimating the world’s population. Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story) and John Malkovich (Billions) co-starred.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are teaming up for a new drama series on the SyFy Channel called Incorporated.
According to THR the series is described as a "futuristic espionage thriller set in a world where corporations have seemingly unlimited power. The drama will be the story of one man's efforts to beat the system."
The pilot for the series will be written by brothers and writing team David and Alex Pastor (Selfless, The Last Days). Affleck and Damon on executive producers on the series, and Ted Humphrey (The Good Wife) will serve as showrunner.
This seems like a story that will fit right in with what SyFy is doing these days with the series they are producing. There's some solid talent attached to the project, and I'm curious to see how it turns out.

Lately we've seen cinematic apocalypses from a wide array of intelligent people: the Spanish import The Returned dealt with zombies in a low-key and tragic fashion; Soderbergh's Contagion went with the biological angle; Alfonso Cuaron imagined a newly sterile world in Children of Men; and you can probably guess what happens to half the world in Fernando Meirelles' underrated Blindness from a few years back.
Feel free to add another very interesting Spanish import to the "erudite apocalypse" sub-genre: David and Alex Pastor's The Last Days poses an odd question: what if people started to simply fear the outdoors? "Fear" is putting it lightly. The Last Days blows way past simple agoraphobia; this is more like a virus that strikes if you go outside, and it simply fries your brain. The epidemic starts casually enough: a few bizarre deaths hit the news, and then our hero notices that...

Disaster / apocalypse films can be tricky. How much time do you spend on explaining the disaster? Do you investigate and examine the causes and symptoms? Do you give a cursory look at how the world got in trouble and concentrate on action that has little to do with it? Alex Pastor and David Pastor's The Last Days attempts to do a little bit of both, though its success is mixed. The production value is excellent, it keeps a steady pace, and there are both good quiet moments and excellent action scenes. But unfortunately it also falls too often into Hollywood sentimentalism, and with the exception of the unique cause of the disaster, doesn't explore deeper meanings or tread any new territory.Set in contemporary Barcelona,...

Julia Stiles and Scott Speedman and Stephen Rea are set to frontline Out of the Dark, a supernatural thriller directed by Lluis Quilez. Sources report filming has already started in Bogota, Colombia which Participant Media's Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King are executive producing along with Xyz Films' Nick Spicer. Scripted by Alex Pastor and David Pastor, as well as Javier Gullón, Out of the Dark follows Sarah and Paul Harriman, an American couple who move to Colombia with Hannah, their young daughter in order for Sarah to take the reigns of her father's manufacturing business. However, they soon realize the home their in is haunted. Sounds like nothing out of the ordinary as far as horrors go. Stiles was last seen in David O. Russell's Silver Linings Playbook alongside Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro and Jennifer Lawrence, and stars in the Blue TV series.

David and Alex Pastor's first feature film, Carriers, was a creepy film set in a deserted America where a plague was slowly killing the population. In their second feature,The Last Days, they're taking the apocalypse back to their native Spain. This time, the epidemic is psychological: agoraphobia. It's quite a frightening thought, as food sources would dwindle pretty rapidly, so the chaos is not hard to imagine. Deserted cities always look creepy, but even more so in such an architecturally beautiful and usually very busy place such as Barcelona. In this second trailer, more of the story is revealed, as well as some incredible shots of the underground/interior fortresses the remains of humanity have built themselves. In 2013, humanity is suddenly plagued by an intense fear of...
