TV show description:
This sitcom revolves around a pair of single moms who are best friends and former high school nerds. The moms have given the girls everything they've asked for and everything they never had: clothes, money and self-esteem. The unintended consequence is that they have created two mean girls just like the ones who tortured them years ago.
Annie Watson (Jaime Pressly) was raised in an ultra-strict, uber-religious household where she had little-to-no freedom. As a result, she pretty much allows her daughter Sophie (Kristi Lauren) to do as she pleases.

There just wasn't enough love for this Fox sitcom. The network has cancelled I Hate My Teenage Daughter after a handful of episodes.
The sitcom revolves around a pair of moms who realize that their daughters have become the kind of girls who terrorized them in high school. The cast includes Aisha Dee, Chad L. Coleman, Eric Sheffer Stevens, Jaime Pressly, Katie Finneran, Kevin Rahm, and Kristi Lauren.
I Hate My Teenage Daughter debuted back in November to a respectable 2.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.80 million total viewers. That was a positive performance but no doubt had a lot to do with having Fox's very successful X Factor as a lead-in.
The ratings for the second episode fell by 25% and the thirds dropped by another 14% to a 1.8 in the demo with 5.06 million. Those numbers were...

Fox’s new show, “I Hate My Teenage Daughter,” premieres tonight at 9:30/8:30c right after The X Factor.
Last Sunday, the main stars, Jaime Pressly and Katie Finneran helped co-host the Fox All Access radio show. Jaime and Katie play best friends Annie & Nikki on the show, and their daughters have grown up to become the “mean girls” they despised while they were in high school. But while there teens’ behavior drives them crazy, Annie & Nikki have genuine love for their daughters and they want nothing but the best for them.
Fox All Access Producer Monica Guerra recently caught up with Kristi Lauren who plays Sophie, Annie’s daughter on the show. She loves her character and finds the show to be truly funny!

The biggest shame of the new Fox comedy "I Hate My Teenage Daughter" is the amount of talent the show wastes.
The series follows two divorced women and their struggles as they raise their troublesome teenage daughters (thus, the title). Katie Finneran, a Tony Award winner, plays Nikki Miller, a former high school loser who is borderline obsessed about her daughter Mackenzie (Aisha Dee) achieving popularity. Emmy winner Jaime Pressly plays Nikki's best friend Annie Watson, a woman from a super conservative upbringing who can barely control her daughter Sophie (Kristi Lauren).
In the pilot, Sophie and Mackenzie are gearing up for their first high school dance, and their moms couldn't be more excited. But things go afoul when, just days before the dance, the daughters decide to lock up a male, handicapped classmate in the women's bathroom.
As expected, the mothers are called to principal's office and are horrified at the news.

Chicago – Fox’s “I Hate My Teenage Daughter” is so horrendous that there were rumors, after it was picked up by the network and pilots were sent out to press last May, that the network heads might change their mind and decide not to air the show at all. That would have been the nice to do to the American public. An easy choice for the worst new show of the year (especially now that contenders “Free Agents” and “How to Be a Gentleman” have been axed), this offensively bad sitcom should be canceled before Christmas if Santa gets my wish list.

Comedy is very hot this TV season — thank ABC's best-of-class Wednesday comedies (all in repeats tonight), CBS' Monday blockbusters, NBC's cult faves and Fox's giddy New Girl — but two lousy new sitcom arrivals buck the trend, leaving a sour aftertaste.
Normally I'd celebrate at any circumstance that shrinks The X Factor to 90 minutes, but in this case, it opens the door for Fox's unpleasant I Hate My Teenage Daughter (9:30/8:30c), which traps two gifted comedians — My Name Is Earl's Emmy-winning spitfire Jaime Pressly and two-time Tony-winning scene-stealer Katie Finneran — in no-win roles as shrill moms who used to be ugly ducklings and are now cowed by their bratty offspring (forgettably rendered by Aisha Dee and Kristi Lauren), who are turning out to be the sort of spoiled mean girls who tormented the moms back when they were in high school.

I Hate My Teenage Daughter is a curious, but largely understandable, result of the trend in reality television and the absorption of that trend into the collective psyche. This is actually true of another new show this season, Suburgatory, and the two shows are largely cut from the same cloth.
Those who are not overly familiar with reality television as viewers, but only insofar as they are aware of such things as Real Housewives of Wherever, The Continually Less Aptly-Named Real World, Toddlers & Tiaras, and far too many others, find themselves dumbfounded by their continued existence and popularity.
From a removed perspective, they make no sense. Simply from the standpoint of being able to get people to be on the shows (nevermind facts like the interview process for The Real World involves little beyond the quesiton, "So, you drink like a lot, right?"), trying to work...

Jaime Pressly spent four years and won an Emmy for terrorizing on-screen ex-husband Earl on My Name is Earl, but now she's bearing the brunt of the abuse on her new series I Hate My Teenage Daughter.
The series, premiering on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 9:30/8:30c, follows single moms Annie (Pressly) and Nikki (Katie Finneran), who realize that by raising their daughters to be cool (as opposed to the nerds they were in high school), they have actually created two bratty monsters. "The relationship between Annie, my character, and my daughter Sophie is actually a really good one," Pressly says. Adds Kristi Lauren, who plays Annie's daughter: "Annie let Sophie grow up without a lot of rules and so Sophie thinks, 'Oh, I can do whatever I want.' They always have this...

Captain Awesome is bringing the love to I Hate My Teenage Daughter.
TVLine has learned exclusively that Chuck vet Ryan McPartlin has landed a guest spot on Fox’s new fall comedy as a “hot dad” who shares an instant attraction with Jaime Pressly’s Annie. A possible love connection between the two, however, is quickly thwarted when he witnesses first-hand the overbearing, overprotective parenting methods Annie uses with daughter Sophie (Kristi Lauren).
McPartlin — who will return for the fifth and final cycle of NBC’s Chuck, premiering Oct. 21 — is set to appear in the second episode of Teenage Daughter’s debut season.

Diane Haithman is contributing to Deadline's TCA coverage. After today’s TCA panel on Fox’s new multi-camera comedy I Hate My Teenage Daughter, about two high school nerd-girls who grew up to be the mothers of the kind of popular “mean girls” that they envied and hated in high school, the show’s executive producers, Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Kreamer, talked with me about how their multi-camera comedy might fit in at Fox, which has struggled to successfully launch a multi-camera sitcom. The show stars Katie Finneran and My Name Is Earl castmember Jaime Pressly as the moms and Australian Aisha Dee and Kristi Lauren as the snotty teenagers. “I think audiences really appreciate multi-camera comedy -- you watch the big success of Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory and you feel good when you watch it -- there’s something very comforting about it,...

I Hate My Teenage Daughter (working title) is a new comedy that follows two single mom best friends who hate their teenage daughters. The show will air Wednesday nights at 9:30. Check out the trailer below.
I Hate My Teenage Daughter (working title) follows Annie (Emmy Award winner Jaime Pressly, My Name Is Earl) and Nikki (Tony Award winner Katie Finneran) – former high school outcasts whose pasts inform their current parenting styles. Annie, who was raised in an ultra-strict, über-religious household where she had little-to-no freedom, pretty much allows her daughter, Sophie (Kristi Lauren, “You”), to do whatever she wants. Nikki, once an unpopular, overweight social pariah, has reinvented herself as a pretty Southern belle whose top priority is providing her daughter, MacKenzie (Aisha Dee), with the childhood she never had.
Sophie and Mackenzie are also best friends, which leads to a lot of co-parenting for Annie and Nikki. They...

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with second announced today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the list over on Fox.
Aiming to stop the ratings slide that takes place when "American Idol" isn't on, Fox laid waste last week to practically every show that wasn't majorly performing on its schedule, though the fate of "Breaking In" remains in question right now. They're also betting big on the new take of Simon Cowell's "The X Factor" in the Fall - hoping it will perform as well or better than the now Cowell-less "American Idol" does in the Spring.
They're also using the Fall to launch arguably the single biggest show of the new season - "Terra Nova". The lavishly expensive series about future humanity living in a colony in the prehistoric past is not just being touted...
