Utopia and Showtime have partnered to acquire “Meet Me in the Bathroom,” the documentary film about the early 2000s New York City rock and roll scene that made its premiere at this year’s Sundance.
Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern directed the film that’s based on the 2017 book by Lizzy Goodman. Goodman’s book is a comprehensive oral history of the bands that redefined the rock scene in the early 2000s and late ’90s, including The Strokes, Interpol, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, LCD Soundsystem and more. The film specifically is an assemble of archival footage from that era and forgoes talking head interviews, instead featuring rare early performances and behind the scenes looks at NYC’s top bands.
Utopia will release the film theatrically in theaters later this year, and Showtime will air “Meet Me in the Bathroom” by the end of 2022.

Since landing the role of the accident-prone heroine in "The Twilight Saga," Kristen Stewart has sought gritty indie roles that test her acting abilities and cause a stir among fans, the first being her role as a stripper and prostitute in "Welcome to the Rileys." She then cut off her long locks and donned a choppy, black bob to play Joan Jett in "The Runaways." And later this year, she'll portray 16-year-old marijuana enthusiast Marylou in the film adaptation of Jack Kerouac's novel, "On the Road."
But that's just the beginning for the 22-year-old actress. According to Variety, Stewart is set to star in the bold action flick "Cali."

Kristen Stewart’s recent movie choices continue to convey a sense that the actress is searching for projects as far removed from her most famous role as she can possible find. As well as the final part in the ‘Twilight Saga’ still to come, Stewart already has very different and diverse roles booked this year, first playing the more kick-ass than we’ve seen before version of Snow White in this summer’s ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ and then later as Marylou in Walter Salles’ adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s most celebrated work ‘On The Road’.
She has certainly done as much as she can to seemingly distance herself as much as she can from Bella Swann. That trend looks set to continue with news coming from Variety that Stewart has just signed on to headline the action flick ‘Cali’ for Voltage Productions and New School Media.

Kristen Stewart must have enjoyed her stunt work and swordplay in the upcoming fantasy Snow White and the Huntsman, co-starring Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth, because the 22-year-old actress joined the Los Angeles-set action movie Cali both as its female lead and co-producer. Variety reported that Michael Diliberti (30 Minutes or Less) wrote the script about a pair of San Fernando Valley lovers who fake their deaths and leave town with stolen money only to return and face their enemies in order save a relative. Kristen Stewart: Cali next? Above, Stewart in Snow White and the Huntsman Kristen Stewart is set to star in Cali, written and co-produced by 30 Minutes or Less‘ Michael Diliberti. Previously only an unsourced rumor, this time around, the news about Kristen Stewart-Cali comes from Variety’s Jeff Sneider, who describes Cali as a "gritty action pic" set in Los Angeles. Voltage Productions and New School Media will handle the independently made film. Diliberti’s screenplay tells the story of a young San Fernando Valley couple, Mya (Stewart) and Chris, who enjoy living dangerously. They sell a fake snuff film (explicit mix or sex and murder) and leave town, but Mya has to return to Los Angeles to rescue her younger sister and deal with "angry former business partners, homicidal porn stars, stoner vet techs, an unstoppable killing machine in a cowboy hat and their own contentious relationship.

The 2011 Black List, the Top Unproduced Screenplays of the year has been released. The best unproduced screenplays from The Black List 2011 is compiled by votes from over 300 “execs, agency guys, and high-level assistants. Titled The Black List, the compendium highlights both established screenwriters and up-and-comers, and has served as a launching pad in the past for projects like Juno, Lars and the Real Girl, and (500) Days of Summer. Last year’s list included Margin Call, Crazy, Stupid, Love, The Hunger Games, and Snow White and the Huntsman.”
Regarding the validity of The Black List, things to keep in mind:
some of these screenplays have already been acquired and are already in development, though…none will have entered principal photography by December 31, 2011. Also worth pointing out is that, as in previous years, there have been rumors that some of the participants have been accused of using the Black List to promote their own clients or friends.

For the seventh annual year a list of the top unproduced screenplays written in the past 12 calendar months has been made. The Black List is the most recognized and celebritized compilation for screenwriters and unknown movie ideas to be heard. While some prior Black List scripts have gone on to be made (like Juno or 500 Days of Summer), most scripts do not. However, what being on The Black List can do is to give a big push of credibility to a screenwriter hoping to carve out a career in Hollywood.
The Black List recepients are chosen by a committee of 300 individuals working in Hollywood: agents, writers, producers, managers and the like. They read the screenplays that float around the showbiz ecosystem; some are bought and are already in development while others are still seeing the interest of talent of financial backers.

The 2011 Black List has arrived online and there are a bunch of the hottest scripts in Hollywood. Some have already been picked up by studios, while most are still unproduced. Here is the press release: The Black List was compiled from the suggestions of over 300 film executives, each of whom contributed the names of up to ten of their favorite scripts that were written in, or are somehow uniquely associated with, 2011 and will not have begun principal photography during this calendar year.
This year, scripts had to receive at least six mentions to be included on the The Black List.
All reasonable effort has been made to confirm the information contained herein. The Black List apologizes for all misspellings, misattributions, incorrect representation identification, and questionable 2011 affiliations.
It has been said many times, but it's worth repeating:
The Black List is not a "best of" list. It is, at best, a "most liked" list.

[1] Each December since 2004, studio executive Franklin Leonard has compiled the best unproduced screenplays of the year, as voted by hundreds of execs, agency guys, and high-level assistants. Titled The Black List, the compendium highlights both established screenwriters and up-and-comers, and has served as a launching pad in the past for projects like Juno, Lars and the Real Girl, and (500) Days of Summer. Last year's list included Margin Call, Crazy, Stupid, Love, The Hunger Games, and Snow White and the Huntsman. It should be noted that the headline is somewhat misleading -- some of these screenplays have already been acquired and are already in development, though according to Leonard none will have entered principal photography by December 31, 2011. Also worth pointing out is that, as in previous years, there have been rumors that some of the participants have been accused of using the Black List to promote their own clients or friends.
